Due to his injuries, he took a turn for the worst and unfortantly we had to help this poor wee man over the Rainbow Bridge.

Hi Lovely followers,

Hasn't the weather sprung nicely into spring! We are very aware that this is the time of year that all the bugs come out of hibernation, this year our aim is to reduce parvovirus in our community.

In partnership with Zoetis we are offering $20 parvovirus vaccinations to Community services and Gold card holders with dogs under 1 year of age - with no vaccination history.

Please call us on 09 299 8932 to book this in with our friendly team.

*Community services and Gold cards will need to be sighted at the appointment.

Unfortunately a deceased cat has been brought into us by a member of the public. He is an adult, entire male, black cat, not microchipped. Found in the Alfriston Road area. Please contact us on 09 299 8932 if this is your beloved pet.

🐄🐑 This and season, remember to keep dogs, horses, llamas and alpacas away from calf/lamb meal and milk replacer!

Ionophores (such as monensin) are used in calf/lamb meal and milk replacers to prevent diseases like coccidiosis. But they can be fatal for dogs 🐕, horses 🐎 and camelids🦙.

🐶 Many dogs love the taste of calf and lamb milk replacer and will jump at the chance to lick the containers or equipment! Make sure you keep your feeds away from susceptible animals so they won't be tempted.

⚠️ You may not see the signs of ionophore toxicity straight away, as it affects the heart and skeletal muscle. Symptoms may include muscle weakness, staggering, loss of appetite or difficulty breathing - but don't wait until these signs appear.

If you think your dog, horse, llama or alpaca has gotten into a product containing ionophores, contact your vet immediately.

Our nursing team was visited by the team at Zoetis yesterday to do a refresher on the anesthesia and analgesic drugs we use during our procedures. We are huge fans of constantly upskilling and keeping up to date with current industry standards to provide the best care for your pets 😻
