It is with the up most pleasure for us to announce Mary Dormer and her wife Jo Dormer have given birth to a beautiful little boy. They have called this bundle of joy, Edward "Eddie" Arthur Dormer. Mary is taking time off work to support her wife and help out with "Eddie" and will be returning to work on Monday 4 March.

Huge congratulations from all the staff at Pets At Rest NZ guys, we know you will make great parents, well done.

Remember Pets are a lifetime responsibility

It is Christmas day soon
And all are full of cheer,
But I lay freezing on the step,
I always sleep right here.

I never get to go inside,
And join in all the fun,
I'm what they call a yard dog,
When all is said and done.

They have given me some scraps,
I think it was last week,
Now laying in the snow today,
I am feeling tired and weak.

I can hear the children playing,
As my head lay on my paws,
This time just last year,
I was a gift from Santa Claus.

I don't know what I did wrong,
To be shut out in the yard,
I only lived inside 6 months,
Since then my life's been hard.

The snow is falling heavy now,
I'm just a block of ice,
And when I breathe the cold cold air,
My lungs feel like a vice.

A miracle then came to pass,
An Angel did appear,
She glowed, and I could feel the heat,
As she floated near.

She reached her hand and beckoned,
It was such a sight to see,
She smiled and said "Good Dog,
It is time to come with me.

I will take you to the bridge,
Where all the Good Dogs go
You can play there in the sunshine,
There will be no freezing snow."

My bag of bones stood up then,
I shook the snow from off my fur,
And, as I slowly followed,
This is what I said to her.

"I am not a Good Dog though,
In that I think you're wrong,
No one would shut a Good Dog,
In the garden for so long."

The Angel turned and smiled,
As I walked with head hung low,
Then she said "I'm sorry,
I thought that you would know.

You really are a Good Dog,
The reason why your time is up,
It is just unfortunate,
You were born a Christmas pup."

I now live at the Rainbow Bridge,
And I am filled with joy,
But remember this at Christmas time,
A dog is NOT a toy.

Our new hospital ARC Central, at 8 Hereford Street, Freemans Bay is now open 24/7, 365!

Our emergency team are now onsite every night and all weekend. Our critical care service has also started this week at ARC Central, led by Dr. íde Gillespie.

ARC North, the clinic you know and love, is located at 224 Albany Highway, Schnapper Rock.

Both locations are in Auckland!

Working at Pets@Rest and dealing with peoples loss of their furbabies on a daily basis. Its such a comfort knowing Rainbow Bridge is a place pets that have past await for their owners so they can be reunited in love.

Hi to all our customers, this is to advise you that next Friday 14 July we will be closed to celebrate Matariki . We will be open again on Saturday morning for clinic collections. Our phones are manned 24/7 to deal with any urgent enquires while we are closed.

Good Friday 7 April 2023 – Closed – Emergency collections only – Call Out fee applies
Easter Saturday 8 April 2023 - Open 9:00am to 12:00pm – Collections Only – Call Out fee applies after 12:00pm
Easter Sunday 9 April 2023 – Closed – Emergency collections only – Call Out fee applies
Easter Monday 10 April 2023 – Closed – Emergency collections only – Call Out fee applies

Over the entire Easter Break we will have one of our staff members on call for any emergencies to which a call out fee will apply.

Arrived at work today to this lovely email from a customer who came in yesterday. Well done team.

Good afternoon,

After a rough 24 hours, one of the things I keep thinking about, is how the final moments for my cat and aftercare went as well as it could.

I am so grateful for your team, and blown away by your incredible service. From Mindy suggesting to my sister that keeping my little friend overnight for grief, to the two kind gentleman this morning, and your lovely premises. One of your team noticed me bickering with a van driver (not from your company) who had parked his extremely large van in a crooked, stupid way - and I asked him to straighten up - he said I was in the wrong but then hastily said he’d move it and drove far away from me … and your lovely employee called out to me pointing out the parks in front, saying “we’ve lit the candle for you”. I imagine you are used to dealing with stressed people. And even bring able to sit down in a chair whilst you pay - the little things really are the big things.

Thank you so much for making this experience to much nicer than I thought it would be. You provide a wonderful service, and so it so well.

Good Morning All, we hope you all came out ok after the cyclone.

Pets@Rest is back open normal hours as of today, we apologise for not being able to service all our partner clinics yesterday however we will have an extra van on the road today to make sure we complete all required pickups from yesterday and today.

Good Morning Facebook Friends. Due to the current weather situation we will only be open today Tuesday 14 February for emergencies. The phones will still be manned as usual. Stay safe everybody and keep off the road if you don't have anywhere to be.

Please keep your pets inside and safe. This storm must be real scary for them.

Good Morning Friends. Pets@Rest is still open during this unsettled weather. We were unable to complete collections Saturday morning due to the unsafe conditions on the road after Friday nights downpour. Today Tuesday we are back operating as normal we will be keeping our eye on the weather and forecasts and keep our fingers crossed the rain doesn't return in volume while we are out servicing our clients. Keep safe out there and try to enjoy your day.

The Picture below is from the Auckland Zoo during the peak of the rain Friday/Saturday. We are so happy the staff kept the animals safe.
