Renate's specialty lies in the correct bio-mechanics of rider and horse. Her extensive knowledge of the rider's anatomy and her meticulous eye for detail allow her to accurately improve the rider's posture and effectiveness of the aids, enhancing the horse's movement and way of going, while her understanding of mind management and rider breathing infuses relaxation and confidence. Having trained i
ntensively with Ulla Salzgeber (German 2x Team Gold and Individual Silver and Bronze Medals at the Olympics) for 2 years and being employed by the South African Lipizzaner's means Renate has the vast knowledge of training horses to Grand Prix and the skill for teaching "work in hand" which includes piaffe, passage and airs above the ground. Renate holds the German National Diploma in Equine Studies (formerly called Bereiter), key aspects are training horses and coaching riders. This is a three year full-time course which includes practical application. The exam requires a riding in a snaffle and double bridle at elementary level and jumping a course at 1.20 m. stable and horse management, vet care, breeding, lunging and horse anatomy. There is no need to be overwhelmed or intimidated by Renate's knowledge and skill, as she has been coaching at Pony Club for many years and teaches at all levels in Pony Club from lead rein to A certificate throughout the North Island. She is just as happy teaching rising trot as she is teaching piaffe, and no matter what level you and your horse work at, by improving your riding, you will improve your performance. Adding another dimension to her Coaching, Renate integrates many aspects of yoga, as there is a close correlation between the skills used in riding and those used in yoga, including; self carriage, alignment, stillness of the mind, awareness and adjustment, harmony and flow. Additionally Renate has coached and competed successfully in Germany, USA, South Africa, The Middle East, and New Zealand. Currently she is available for coaching in the South Auckland Region, and is giving regular clinics in Tauranga and Wellington.
