The classic pink birdsnest coral. The weekly dipping protocols we follow here at EMA for quarantine stock is a fantastic way to inspect these animals under natural light, as the blue light drowns out certain colours such as pink and purples.
Fauna Marin Shipment Update
Having arrived in Auckland July 7th, our Fauna Marin shipment has finally been cleared.
This should replenish stocks of key lines, such as 25kg buckets, 10kg buckets, Rebiotic, Coral Sprint, Total ICP kits and other items.

What you're looking at is a 100% captive bred Holy Grail Torch Coral, bred entirely in captivity from an egg by EMA over the last few years.
Today this specimen is around 5cm across, and it has taken 1.5'ish years to develop to this size.
Previously we've also had Frogspawns and Elegance Corals spawn in captivity, however we lost the Elegance Coral early into the development stage due to invasive coraline growth that outpaced the baby elegance.
We hope to one day show case this stunning specimen, and join its mother colony in the new EMA Display once our new aquascape has been finished 🥳

Did you know that coral distribution changes throughout our oceans? For example, Indonesian corals are different to Australian corals, that are different again to corals found throughout the Pacific?
Take for example this toxic green bowerbanki. It is a classic example of a bowerbanki found in the Pacific Ocean, and is totally different to its Australian counterparts.
The Pacific is home to some beautiful colour morphs, particularly Grape Coral, Bowerbanki, Milleopora, Yellow Toadstools and other corals not often seen in the trade.

It's really interesting to watch fish exhibit natural behaviours that they would do in the ocean. Check out this Filefish hiding amongst new greenery in our retail tanks - in the wild they camouflage in seagrass to help escape predators, hence why they can change colour to match their surroundings 😍 These filefish also help control Aiptasia, and are a popular and hardy fish to serve this purpose.
