The girls this morning 😘
Although Brie (left) passed the CGC assessment on Wednesday, her behaviour on the day was not its best. During the first set of exercises, she did well without any treats. They included:
* walking on lead through people and distractions
* accepting a stranger and being patted by another stranger
* meeting a stranger and their dog
* walking through a gate in a controlled manner
* recalls
* playing with the dog
The exercise I was not sure about was “grooming & inspection by assessor” but Brie coped with it.
I didn’t think that “stay tied on a lead” and “supervised separation” would be a problem but she struggled with them. She vocalised a few times.
“Cafe experience” was another one that Brie found hard. Although she didn’t lose control, she was unable to settle in the down position. At cafes I usually use a mat but because it was raining heavily I didn’t go outside to fetch a mat from the car 😩 I was too lazy! I am sorry Brie.
As it took over three hours, Brie got very tired and agitated in the second half of the assessment. She was uncomfortable being unable to p**p in the heavy rain, too.
In the end she started pulling the lead very hard especially when we were walking to the car with an assessor for our last exercise “into and out of a vehicle” in the rain. The assessor was kind enough to let us pass but I was very embarrassed.
At the end of the day I was reminded how hard these assessments could be. I regret that we hadn’t rehearsed some of the exercises. When my students sit for these assessments, I will help them prepare better!

The girls surprised me today.
Today they stayed home while I was out for the longest time ever…around six hours. When I checked the security camera, Brie was sleeping on her crate. In fact she is pretty good with separation.
On the other hand Jasmine used to start barking if she was left behind for a long time, although she is usually napping on a bed outside recently.
When I come home, Brie usually stays on her bed with a sleepy face while Jasmine comes to the baby gate, wanting me to open it immediately. I usually ask them to go back to their crates before opening the baby gate. But sometimes I need to ask them to go to their crates several times.
Today, as soon as I got out of my car, they jumped into their crates voluntarily! So, I opened the baby gate immediately.
It was a nice surprise 😲
This photo was taken on our evening walk. During the walk Jasmine kept looking at me. Does all of this mean that Jasmine missed me so much? 🤔😀
