Does your dog need desexing, but also doesn't want to miss out on trips to the beach?? We have the solution 😉 You may want to book her in for a Laparascopic Spey instead of the traditional way. It is less invasive, meaning recovering is faster and they can get back to their normal activities quicker. Give us a call if you would like some information or to make a booking.

🐾 Is Your Pet in Their Golden Years? Here's Why Blood Testing Matters! 🐾
As our beloved pets age, their health needs change—sometimes in ways we can’t see on the outside. That’s why regular blood testing is so important for senior animals (typically age 7 and up for dogs and cats).
Blood tests help us:
🔍 Detect early signs of disease before symptoms appear
🩸 Monitor organ function (like kidneys, liver, and thyroid)
💊 Adjust medications or diets for changing needs
💖 Ensure your furry friend stays as healthy and happy as possible in their senior years
Just like us, pets benefit from early detection and preventative care. A simple blood test can make a big difference in catching issues early—and giving your best friend the best chance at a long, comfortable life. 🐶🐱

Caring for Senior Pets at Home: Simple Ways to Support Their Golden Years 💛🏡

Our older pets may move a little slower or sleep a little more, but they still have so much love to give—and they deserve extra comfort and care at home.
Here are a few easy ways to help your senior pet thrive:
🛏️ Create a cozy space: Soft bedding, warm spots, and easy access to their favourite places can make a big difference for achy joints.
🍽️ Nutrition matters: Consider senior-formulated diets that support aging bodies and specific health needs.
🐾 Keep them active (gently): Short, regular walks or light play can help maintain muscle tone and mental stimulation.
🧼 Good grooming: Regular brushing helps with circulation and lets you check for lumps, skin changes, or soreness.
💊 Watch for changes: Appetite, mobility, bathroom habits, or behavior shifts can signal health concerns—keep a journal if needed!
👩‍⚕️ And of course, regular vet checkups are essential. Early detection is key to keeping them healthy and comfortable.
Your love and care mean the world to them—let’s make their golden years truly golden. 🐶🐱💕

Every year we see an increase in calls around Easter, with dogs and cats getting into our stashes of sweet chocolaty treats
Why exactly can’t they have chocolate?
Chocolate contains theobromine, a chemical that is toxic because they metabolize it much slower than humans. The darker and more bitter the chocolate, the more theobromine it contains, making it more toxic.
Theobromine is extracted from the cocoa bean to be used in beverages, and forms of chocolate based foods.
It affects the central nervous, cardiovascular and respiratory systems

Symptoms include, but not limited to:
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Increased heart rate
• Tremors
• And in severe cases, seizures and even death.

How to Keep Your pets Safe:
• Store chocolate securely away
• Keep an eye on them when chocolate is present.
• Don't share chocolate with them - even small amounts can be dangerous.

Please call us and use the handy dandy Vets Now Chocolate Toxicity Calculator if they ingest any chocolate products
