The NZ Cat Foundation

The NZ Cat Foundation There are so many unwanted and abandoned cats and kittens in our Community and its our aim to de-sex all of our Community/stray cats.

To foster and encourage the kind and humane treatment of cats and to prevent and discourage cruelty to and harsh and thoughtless treatment of cats so as to enhance the general health of the community. Importantly, to de-sex community cats to prevent their proliferation in the most kindly and humane way possible. To offer a sanctuary to unwanted stray cats in a protected environment where all their needs are met in an indoor /outdoor environment.

Unless there is FREE de-sexing and microchipping available, there will still be a large number not complying, says Anne Batley Burton, Founder & Chair of The New Zealand Cat Foundation.

International Cat Care is a pioneering cat welfare charity. Since 1958 they’ve challenged cruelty, ignorance and misunderstanding to affect positive change in the lives of cats. With an estimated global population of 600 million cats, half of which are thought to be unowned, their work has never been more important. Their website has a lot of useful information. https://icatcare.org/

Would everyone PLEASE take time to submit on this! In particular the situation re cats !
There is an important question being asked of ratepayers re the Auckland Council funding free de-sexing and microchipping of cats to reduce the breeding of unwanted cats . It is extremely important to support this as de-sexing and chipping is the ONLY humane way of reducing the population . The trapping and killing of supposedly “un-owned” cats by the Conservationists is not only cruel but a waste of time and money to no effect. I will be pushing for rescue organisations to be funded as we are all very proactive in de-sexing stray/ abandoned cats which are the main area where cats are breeding. Please take time to do this. It’s SO important for the future of our beloved cats.

Have your say from 25 October - 8 December 2024.
