Beau is available for live breeding with your mare. Please make enquiries by Private Message. He has a limited book each year so please get in touch. We have no foals for sale.

Today we have fabulous dressage rider Bella Small schooling Ballytruckle Kaleidoscope on our sand pit. Welsh cobs decorate the paddocks behind and a winter rainbow illuminates the scene.

Well I finally got out riding a horse. Here is me Carolynn West, hubby Steve West and son Conor Lee West all riding Ballytruckle Welsh cob partbreds. It was a childrens hunt and we followed around having a special day whilst Conor Lee West was visiting on his birthday week.

Im riding Ballytruckle Rolls 9yo who is 75% Welsh cob and 25% tb by Cwmkaren Beaufort Express (imp) out of Ballytruckle Rosheen (SOD Mill Creek Valiant). Rollie Pollie is a funny guy, cheeky, but safe as a house, hes a really cool mix of tb and Welsh cob and can move off when you want.

Steve West was riding Ballytruckle Riley 19 yo 50% welsh cob 50% tb. Riley is by Mill Creek Valiant X Rookley Rose (SOD Valuta) so tons of black type in her pedigree, a very fine b***d mare. He has a stone bruise which explains the boots on back feet.

Conor was riding his old nemesis, Ballytruckle Sally Gap, shes an 18yo 50% Welsh cob 50% Tb being by Mill Creek Valiant and out of Star (SOD Indian Ore), Conor Lee West loved every minute and we enjoyed having wonderful family time on horseback.

Ballytruckle Abigaile, (Arawa Royal Mail X Llandovery Mercury) 21 years old, and helping another member of her family have fun on a pony. She was in my first crop of 3 Welsh cobs and Tb crosses when I started Ballytruckle Welsh cobs stud in 2000.
Here she is at her local pony club in the winning team for an area games day. The chestnut closest to the camera. Longlived, still active and not full of arthritis, happy to go out and about. I love this.
Well done to the team..

13th June 2021 Niamh rode Ballytruckle Rolls, 3/4 Welsh cob 1/4tb, by Cwmkaren Beaufort Express (imp) out of Ballytruckle Rosheen, in his only class- the 90cm at Papatoetoe PC SJ Winter series.

He has had several months off since the end of SJ season in March when HOY was cancelled. He has spent recent nights midweek under lights, helping Tegan Macnab canter after a knee injury, as well as getting me back riding.

Well Niamh rode him in the 90cm and was giggling and laughing in the warmup cos hes just such a delight to ride, a real jolly character, so she said to me ""Mum Im going to give it a go and win this one."" Guess what...she did!! by 0.6 seconds

Heres a link to the video of Rolls' 90cm round. https://photos.app.goo.gl/1jYfTKcTxPzZtGX48

Ballytruckle Dana who is a 50% Welsh cob and 50% Thoroughbred mare, by Cwmkaren Beaufort Express (imp) and out of Diamond 2001, who has Zerpour and Shirley Heights as sire and dam sire. - was also ridden at same show after several months resting in paddock. Niamh schooled her around an 80cm class to come 8th place, surprisingly, as Niamh took wide schooling turns.

Ballytruckle Kaleidoscope purebred Welsh cob mare, who Niamh has been hunting this season, did 2 pony SJ classes unjudged. She is by Cwmkaren Beaufort Express (imp) and out of Ballytruckle Alexandra Rose.

Breed for temperament, conformation and talent.

Our stud is a family affair, of me @CarolynnWest my husband Steve and our children Conor and Niamh. The stud is situated on 30 acres in South Auckland, New Zealand. We are very passionate about our Welsh cobs and Tb cross Welsh cobs. We generally break in our own horses we have bred and ride them on with about eight horses in ridden work at any given time. As a family we enjoy many equestrian sports including showjumping, dressage and hunting. The Welsh cobs are extremely versatile winning at all FEI sports world wide from dressage to games, SJing to driving these are super versatile and intelligent horses. My family enjoy riding the Welsh cob X tb in particular. It is very rewarding to see clients Welsh cobs and crosses they have bred with us doing really well in a multitude of horse sports, for their owners. Also those we have sold, that proudly carry our prefix, are fabulous ambassadors for our stud. We stand at public stud the black Welsh cob stallion Cwmkaren Beaufort Express (imp AUS) who we imported from John and Carole Riley's highly successful Cwmkaren Welsh cob stud in Queensland Australia. Recently at the 20th International Welsh Show where competitiors travelled from all parts of Australia to compete, the Supreme Welsh cob as chosen by UK based Welsh judges chose Salient Park Jayne Rees - she has Cwmkaren blood throughout her pedigree. Beau is now 14 years old and is producing several hacks that are bigger than both parents. Over 75% of his progeny to date are black or dark bay.

Visitors are very welcome to visit the stud and ride a Welsh cob or Welsh cob X tb as we have many different rides for different types of people but please contact us first. Messenger will get hold of me anywhere.
