Critiques from the North Island bull terrier 62nd Champ Show Sunday 3rd November 2024

A massive thank you to the committee of the North Island Bull Terrier Club for the opportunity to judge your 62nd Championship Show and thank you to all of the exhibitors.
The show was held at the All Seasons Holiday Park, Rotorua – a super location, very relaxed. The weather was kind, despite the forecast and we were made very welcome.
The dogs were of a super quality, both miniature bull terriers and bull terriers. Mouths were generally good, show preparation was excellent and in most cases handling was to a very high standard. The majority of miniatures appeared to be over the measure, but this did not detract from their sound construction and overall balance. My ‘Best Dog’ in miniature bull terriers, was the only entry, but none-the-less of a super quality and he well deserved his win.
Bull Terriers were equally virtuous, my bitch line-up being of an excellent standard, great construction and plenty of substance, on another day, the placings could easily have been different – it was that close.

11 month old, feminine, black brindle and white girl. Her head is long with a sweeping profile, although lacking a little depth. Neat, well placed ears with a slightly kind eye. Mouth correct. She has a good reach of neck set on a well laid shoulder into a short back, a level top-line with adequate bone and a well angulated rear. Moved well although slightly wide in front, handled well and in super condition, just needs time to mature.

2 year old white girl with eye mark, presented in super condition. Head long and strong with a sweeping profile, filled right up. She has a dark triangular eye creating a keen expression, with neat well placed ears. Mouth correct. Good reach of neck into a correctly laid shoulder, level top line with a correct tail set. Well muscled and fit, good substance, balanced bodylines with well angulated hinds. Moved well in her class, but a little lacklustre in the overall movement trophy. A very pretty girl, showing good type, presented in super condition, a real eye catcher.

2nd CH KRATOS ERREUR MAGNIFIQUE AT GLENLEIGH 06768-2021 15/04/2021 DOFRO STORMBREAKER WARBONNET (UK) AI/KRATOS HELLS HUNTRESS Bred by R Hejtmanek & K Bailey and owned by S Shelley (104743)
3.5 year old, white bitch with head marks. Her is head long with a gentle profile, good width although lacking a little depth. Neat erect ears, although set a little low. Mouth correct. Well-muscled body, good reach of neck and a correctly placed shoulder. Straight front showing good round bone finished with neat feet and a well angulated rear. Would like a little more animation on the move. Shown and handled well.

8.5 year old black brindle and white bitch in super condition. Head long with a gentle profile, although lacks a little fill. Well placed ears that she used to her advantage. Mouth correct. Strong bodylines, good overall balance with good bone. Great condition for her age, moved out well, really enjoyed her outing.

Congratulations Corkscrew Kennels-DogsNz really appreciate you guys campaigning Diva to her championship title ,...you're well on the way ...and your kennels are smashing it out there !!!
Ps if this carries on I may enjoy the odd photo opportunity, also a big thanks to Niki Colson who handled Diva's mum Hela (Kratos erreur magnifique at Glenleigh) and our very own Lady (Glenleigh Measure of Success) whilst I recovered from my night shift 🥱

What a massive day and I can't believe our non -shower did what she did.... they say every dog has it day and today was it .....first off thanks to the North Island Bull Terrier Club (NZ) the committee all the sponsors,.the judge who deemed Lady(bug) as good as he did , and special mention to Niki Colson who was instrumental in achieving Lady's success and further mention to Corkscrew Kennels-DogsNz for allowing me the privilege to show Diva (Glenleigh Witchy woman) who is an absolute legend in the ring .
We as a kennel are over the moon, and the dogs just tired ...more photos and critiques to come
