🎄🐾As the festive season approaches, our veterinary clinic is gearing up for a busy time with the holiday rush. With Christmas just around the corner, we want to ensure that all our furry friends receive the care and attention they need, especially during this joyous time of the year.🐾🎄

To guarantee that every animal under our care has a happy and healthy holiday season, we kindly request all pet owners to place their orders for scripts and medications by the 15th of December. This deadline allows us to process and fulfill all orders efficiently, ensuring that your pets have an ample supply of the medications they require during the holiday season.

Wishing you and your pets a warm and joyful holiday season, filled with love, laughter, and good health. Thank you for entrusting us with the care of your furry family members, and we look forward to serving you and your pets in the coming year!!🥰🐕💓

🐾🍫Sweet but deadly!🍫🐾

Chocolate is delicious - to both humans and dogs.

Unfortunately, dogs are much slower to metabolize theobromine, one of the chemical components in chocolate, making even a small amount potentially toxic for them.

As we are coming into the Christmas season it is important we stay vigilant when giving/receiving edible gifts!

Although we know that chocolate is bad for our furry friends unfortunately they don't, this is why we need to be always keeping an eye on them 🥰🐾

If you do find that your furry friend happens to get into some sweet treats, make sure to call your local vet clinic immediately, if it is outside thier normal working hours or over the public holidays, make sure to call or visit one of the 24hr clinics/emergency clinics in Auckland.

Today our little friend Louie forgot he can't eat sea slugs!🤦‍♀️

Beach days with your dog are a blast, but there's a hidden hazard lurking beneath the waves: toxic sea slugs.

These seemingly harmless sea creatures can be toxic. Dogs that encounter them may experience symptoms like drooling, vomiting, or worse. Their poison can only affect your furry friend if they ingest it, so always make sure to keep an eye on them for any funky meals they pick up at the beach.

Fortunately our furry friend Louie managed to avoid any serious reactions as his owner was keeping a close eye on him and was able to get him to drop the sea slug immediately. We still kept him in with us for the day just to monitor for any signs of toxicity but Louie was very lucky and just got to have a nice day stay with us and return home to his owners in the afternoon.🥰🐾

Keep a close eye on your dog at the beach.
Use a leash when needed.
Know how to identify sea slugs and steer clear.
If you suspect your dog has interacted with a sea slug, don't wait – seek immediate vet care. Enjoy the beach safely with your furry friend!

Vaccinations: Prepare for the holiday rush!!🐈🐾

This is Holly, an eight week old Golden retriever who is showing you how easy it is to take a trip to the vet!!🦮

Here is why taking a trip to the vet for vaccinations is so important:

Superhero Powers: Think of vaccinations as your pet's personal superhero shield, defending them from sneaky villains like parvovirus, leptospirosis and cat flu!

Paw-sitive Community Vibes: By vaccinating, you're not just protecting your pet but joining a league of responsible pet parents, creating a healthier and happier pet party!

Zesty Adventures: With vaccinations, you and your pet can boldly explore the world, knowing that those pesky diseases won't cramp your style.

Hugs and Happiness: With a vaccinated pet, you're doubling down on cuddles and triple-dipping in pet happiness!

If you're putting your pet into boarding during the holiday season, please ensure that all their vaccinations and parasite protection is up to date.
Schedule a visit with us to make sure your pet is ready for their boarding experience.

We book up quite quickly so make sure to give us a call on 09 524 8361 or book online so your pet doesn't miss out on more tail wagging adventures! 🐾😄

Chanel is our wonderful Practice Manager. She’s been working in the Veterinary Industry since 2012, and has had various roles throughout this time and is a qualified Vet Nurse. After spending some time in nursing while studying and as a vet nurse assistant she discovered that she loves the administrative side of the clinic.

Chanel recently won an award "Clinical Leader of the Year 2022". She is passionate about creating a thriving environment and strives for the clinic to provide a high standard of care. The team never goes hungry as Chanel often creates and brings in delicious treats (mainly chocolate).

If she’s not kneading in the kitchen, you can find her "kneading" or more correctly wedging clay. Chanel has recently taken up pottery and is developing her skills and learning how to create beautiful ceramic pieces. Outside of these hobbies she also loves to travel and enjoys winding down with Pilates.

✨ Meet Rosie ✨

Rosie joined our lovely team late December 2019. Rosie graduated from Massey University in 2013 and spent some of her Veterinary Career in Mixed Practice, General Practice and jumping between the United Kingdom and New Zealand.

We’re very thankful that she chose to settle in New Zealand and has recently started her own little family. Rosie is very family oriented and loves being a part of our family at Abbotts Way and has a keen following of clients who she equally enjoys getting to know.

Rosie is still renovating her 1930’s Art Deco style home. She loves spending time outdoors (much like most of our team) and is an absolute whiz in the kitchen and enjoys cooking & baking.

🐾❤Staff Pet Saturdays!!❤🐾

Meet Yuki the dog and his siblings Chester and Billie. These are the beautiful furry friends of our Nurse Sophia!

Their favorite thing to do is get ALL the attention from their humans. If Chester is getting attention Yuki will often hide under the couch because he is jealous and will then get stuck!!

We absolutely love our furry friends and they love us🥰🐈

🧡 From Darkness to Sunshine: Meet Bert, Our Resilient Ginger Hero! ☀️🐾

This is an incredibly heartwarming tale of second chances and newfound happiness! Meet Bert, a charming ginger male cat who has defied the odds and found a new lease on life, thanks to the kindness and compassion of our receptionist, Hannah. 🧡

Bert, a beautiful and feisty 7-year-old feline, recently found himself at the doorstep of our vet clinic, facing a heartbreaking decision. His previous owners found themselves in the challenging position of having to reluctantly consider saying their final goodbye. The thought of ending Bert's journey prematurely weighed heavily on our hearts.

Enter Hannah, our receptionist with a heart of gold. She couldn't bear to see Bert's story end this way. She saw the spark of life in those beautiful eyes and felt an immediate connection. With unwavering determination, Hannah made the remarkable decision to take Bert under her wing, giving him a second chance at the life he truly deserves.

Since that moment, Bert's transformation has been nothing short of extraordinary. He went from a place of uncertainty to a world filled with love, warmth, and endless opportunities for happiness. 🏡💖

Under Hannah's loving care, Bert has flourished! He spent his first few days hiding and growling, he was a very scared little boy but now he's lovingly adapted to his new home, cuddling on cozy blankets and playfully chasing toys. Bert has quickly become the heart and soul of Hannah's household, and he's living his best life with each passing day.

But Bert's story is not just about the resilience of one incredible cat; it's a story of the extraordinary bonds we share with our animal companions. It reminds us that every animal, no matter their age or circumstances, deserves a chance to bask in the sunshine of a loving home.

Today, we celebrate Bert's journey from despair to delight. Let Bert's story be a beacon of hope and inspiration, reminding us all that love and kindness have the power to change lives in the most beautiful ways. 🌟🐾

Welcome to your new life, Bert! 🐱❤️ 🧡🥰

Tina is one of our most experienced Vet Nurses and has been in the industry for 15 years. She originally started nursing while studying through Ucol in Palmerston North to become a qualified Vet Nurse. Tina joined the Abbotts Way team in 2018 and we’re so glad she did.

Tina has a passion for helping the next generation of nurses to grow and supports out nursing students who come through the clinic on a regular basis. Alongside our other senior nurses she also assists in mentoring our junior nurses. Tina is an excellent teacher.

During her time outside of work she has another fulltime job, being a Mother. A fantastic one at that too. She’s also an artist and incredible painter.

Keya is studying towards her Bachelor in Veterinary Nursing. Keya loves surgical nursing and inpatient care. Her goal for every patient is to give them the highest quality of care possible and that definitely includes giving all of them cuddles.

In Keya's spare time she enjoys cooking new recipes and catching the sunset whenever possible. She also loves to spend time with her friends and doing road trips throughout New Zealand.

Keya is learning a lot under the senior nurses at Abbotts Way Vet Clinic and is hoping to continue her education focusing on surgical nursing and hospital care.

Rachel graduated from Massey University in 2017 with a Bachelor in Veterinary Technology and was welcomed into the Abbotts Way family in May 2019. Vet Technicians are a rare find and it’s a bit like finding a petrol station that’s less than $3 a litre.

Rachel has a special interest in Ultrasonography, Radiology, Anaesthesia & Inventory Management. She’s our in-clinic IT guru and is very knowledgeable when it comes to all aspects of nursing. Rachel is one of our Senior Nurses and spends some of her time in clinic mentoring other nurses.

When she’s not spending her time working hard at the clinic you can find her making the most of her creative skill in writing, poems, quilting, paint by numbers and creating art with vial caps. (The plastic cap that flicks off a vaccine vial).

🌟 Meet Natalia 🌟

One of our dedicated junior nurses who joined our team in 2023. Her unwavering passion for aiding animals and enhancing their well-being is evident in her commitment to learning the intricacies of veterinary care. Natalia finds fulfillment in contributing to the recovery and improved quality of life of our furry patients, whether post-surgery or during their healing process.

Beyond the clinic, Natalia channels her nurturing spirit into being the best mother to her son, demonstrating the same care and dedication she shows to our animal companions. At home, she shares her love with a cherished tortoiseshell cat named Cookie. Natalia's creativity knows no bounds as she crafts delightful brownies and delves into the world of diamond art. We're thrilled to have Natalia as part of our team, where her boundless compassion and thirst for knowledge shines bright.
