As the temperature drops, it is important to think about how the change in weather affects your pet. Knitting your pet a new woolly blanket for their bed will not only give you some time to focus on your wellbeing, but also will keep your little one warm and comfortable through the chilly nights. Check out Southern Cross Pet Insurance's video to find out why a wool pet blanket is good for your pet.

Similar to people, cats and dogs are more likely to get sick in the winter months. Each winter we see an increase in pet insurance claims for illnesses (and sometimes accidents) related to the colder and wetter weather. These include joint problems, and fireplace injuries. As pet parents, it’s essential we’re aware of common winter illnesses that can affect our beloved pets and understand how to prevent them. Check out Southern Cross Pet Insurance's article about the five common winter pet conditions and illnesses, and tips on how to prevent them.

As we prepare to welcome the New Year, let's not forget our furry friends. Loud noises can be frightening and stressful for animals. Here are some quick tips to keep your pets safe and calm: ▪️Keep them indoors in a comfortable and secure space. ▫️Play soothing music to help mask the noise of fireworks. ▪️Consider using anxiety-reducing products if your pet is especially sensitive. If you need advice or support, our knowledgeable team is here to help (09 427 9201). #petcare #veterinaryclinic #localveterinarian #pets

HOME LINED UP. This super cute little girl has been a stray with us for a week. No one has come forward so she is up for adoption through Gutter Kitties. She's super outgoing and smoochy. She will come desexed, microchipped, and will have had her first vac. The adoption fee is $180. Please give the clinic a call if you would like to meet her.
These 2 friendly, smoochy, gorgeous boys have been fostered by our lovely vet Emma for Gutter Kitties and are now ready for the furever home. They ideally need to be rehomed together, as they rely on each other a lot for finding their way in the world. Jordie is a cheeky chap, who loves nothing more than exploring new things, pouncing on his brother and chasing ping pong balls. He is constantly looking for fun, but when he gets sleepy will always come looking for a cuddle and nose lick! He had really bad cat flu as a kitten, so has a scarred eye from the infection but this doesn’t stop him loving life or seem to cause him any problems. Beaudie is a gentle soul and shyer than his brother, letting him do all the investigating first while he susses out the situation from afar, but once he warms up to new things and people he is outgoing and the snuggliest boy. He loves having reassurance and attention (quite often headbutting you for it whenever you stop stroking him!). He has been quite anxious during interactions with young children and dogs though, so it may be better for them to go to a home with older children. They have both been desexed, microchipped, flea and worm treated on the 13th January, had their first vaccination and are ready to go to their new home. The adoption cost is $250 for the duo. Please give the clinic a call if you would like to meet them 😁
24 hours after his right hind leg was amputated this boy shows just how well cats adapt to being 3 legged. He is now able to walk upright. A big thank you to everyone who has donated towards the cost of his treatment- we have managed to fundraise approximately 75% of the costs which is fantastic :)
Help us help this lovely boy. He was surrendered to us for treatment following a long standing injury to his right hind leg. He requires amputation for a pain free happy life. Gutter Kitties have very kindly offered to help with payment for his surgery. Any donations would be greatly recieved. Donations can be made via the follwowing: * Payment to us 12-3046-0446909-00 using "Gutter Kitties" as your reference * Payment to Gutter Kitties 06-0479-0077973-00 using "amputation" as your reference * https://givealittle.co.nz/org/gutterkitties
