Chopper’s Dog Training senior trainer Barbara McDonald is an experienced certified professional dog trainer based in Auckland training dogs and behaviour modification of all breeds & sizes. Barbara with the assistance of her family has fostered and rehomed in excess of 250 dogs. Choppers Dog Training regularly donates to other rescues and provides their services voluntarily to several rescue organ

isations. Choppers is passionate about educating pet owners and runs workshops on various topics of dog ownership. These have been on hold during Covid but visit the website to be updated on upcoming seminars & workshops on Recall, Loose Leash Walking & Dog Reactivity.

Graduation from group classes for these awesome pups & dogs. Unfortunately we were missing a few due to canine cough.
A big thank you to Paul from Doctor Dog in Kumeu for his chat on nutrition and helping to fill the goodie bags!
Group classes are finished for the year but keep an eye out for upcoming workshops.

Advance notice next group training Pup to Teens for pup’s approximately 3-7 months classes start 29 September. Held in all weather venue in Waimauku. Will be online in next few days to enrol!

June group classes done & dusted. So proud of these teams, they all nailed their homework each week and dogs and handlers had great fun doing it!

Are you looking for a great new family member that’s had all the hard puppy work done for you - look no further than Fletcher! He’s had a solid start in an experienced foster home learning everything a pup should know, he loves his outings investigating the big wide world but also loves hanging out at home having snuggles with his Stafford foster sister and all the humans - there’s lots of them! He’s been well trained including attending Choppers group training that he aced! Toilet training is a thing of the past, Fletcher will wait at the door & let you know he needs to go out.
Fletcher is now ten months old and will make an excellent addition to your home. If you’d like to meet Fletcher - and you should, please contact the team at Paws Restart or send us a message and we’ll put you in touch 😊

GROUP TRAINING
A quick note to everyone starting group classes this weekend that an email has been sent out to everyone registered so please text me if you have not received it. For those that missed out on a spot we are working on the next schedule now. We are also running two workshops early April on loose leash walking & recall due to the demand so be sure to keep an eye out or email me for more information.

Let’s find Harry his next home - now urgent!! It’s been a pleasure getting to know and train Harry and watch him blossom into the happy boy you see on the videos. Harry’s favourite things are food, which is a real plus for training, his ball and just hanging with us! He settles happily at bedtime and waits patiently for us to let him outside in the morning. (We’re not early risers here at Choppers 😁) He’s nailed the foundation behaviours with great gusto and his enthusiasm has brought lots of smiles. Harry previously missed out on appropriate dog friend interactions and was put into situations he couldn’t cope with so we’ve also been helping Harry with this and he’s making good progress. Harry’s time with us is coming to an end as we head out of Auckland in a few days for other commitments. Harry, ourselves and his fabulous rescue team Paws-Restart have put a lot of work into his training and a foster or forever home that will make the most of this training would be awesome. We are offering ongoing training & support for Harry and our secure grounds for lots of sniffing and running on our return. Please contact Paws - Restart if you are able to help Harry. Here’s his recall video again to remind you how great he is!

What do we all think of Harry’s awesome recall! Watch carefully to see how far away he was. When he arrived here a couple of weeks ago Harry was detached, wouldn’t respond and just wanted to do his own thing. Now he loves being around us and understands interaction is a great!! Our Story

Chopper’s Dog Training is headed by Certified Professional Trainer Barbara KPA-CTP and is a family operated business. Our goal is to raise funds to support our fostering program and dog rescue in New Zealand. We are passionate about the well being of abandoned, surrendered and neglected dogs and have a long history of fostering and rehoming dogs hundreds of dogs.

Barbara is a CTDI for Do More With Your Dog and loves running tricks training workshops. Barbara is also a Canine Good Citizen Assessor and Rally Obedience Judge for Dogs NZ (Kennel Club NZ) and a volunteer at North Shore Dog Training Club in Auckland.
