Training session with Sadie and her owners 😇

We focused on crate training by gradually extending her time inside, introduced small amounts of lead pressure, and worked on recall.
She had so much fun with these exercises, especially playing ‘find it’ and puppy tugs!
Sadie is learning and growing beautifully 🥹

Training session with Zac and Arlo 🐶

We focused on building engagement, the importance of clear communication and solidifying basic obedience.
To put their progress to the test we worked off lead, relying on the techniques and communication skills their owners learnt. And they did so well!

Awesome job team, keep up the good work! 🙌

Dougal showing off his good boy vibes at cafe 🥰

This was a lovely way to finish off his Stay & Train with us this weekend as he struggles with over excitement in new environments. He did so well and put all his hard work to practice - like a little boss 😎
Good boy Dougie!

Meet Sadie 🥰

Little miss is 9 weeks old, we introduced crate training, luring and puppy management. Sadie was so eager to work for her food and her owners are doing a great job at setting her up for success. Lovely to see a strong foundation being laid for her development.
Can’t wait to see her growth 🙌

Auckland Council is looking to update its Dog Policy and Dog Management Bylaw, including a rule to limit the number of dogs walked by one handler to six. 🐾

While I fully support the council’s efforts to create safer spaces for dogs and the community, I feel this limit is rather low for professional walkers.

As a committee member of the Canine Industry Standards Association (CISA) I support their professional standard of 12 dogs per handler. Even though I personally walk smaller groups, this helps ensure safety and quality, I believe 12 is a fair number when handled by trained professionals.

In saying that as co-founder of Dog Training Seminars NZ, ongoing education is an extremely important necessity to our industry and hope in time the regulations will reflect that. Walking ANY amount of dogs, you require a deep understanding, experience and skill in handling dogs. Until regulations reflect these standards, please be cautious when choosing your walker. CISA holds its members to a high standard to ensure the safety and well-being of the dogs in their care.

I am open to change and will adapt to any new rules, but these changes will impact how I operate. My priority has always been the safety, happiness and best interests of the dogs and that will never change.

The council is taking feedback, so if you’d like to share your thoughts, head to Auckland Council’s website – Have Your Say. You can also find the link in .nz bio. 🐶

Solo walk with Bruno ✨

This was such a big step for this anxious lil boy but he did so well!
We’ll be working on building his confidence away from mom and dad, in new environments and around other dogs when he’s ready.

He did so well and was surprisingly comfortable with me! His owners have been attending our group classes, which has given him that extra boost. 🙌

Today was all about getting to know each other and building our relationship. He got plenty of free time to explore and we worked on recalls and some basic obedience in between. I also introduced the place command to help him settle and take in his surroundings.

After lots of desensitization to touch it was so sweet to see him soak up my cuddles at the end of the walk. I can’t wait to see this boy grow! ♥️

Training Session with Zac and Arlo ✨

We focused on the fundamentals of loose lead walking to help with their pulling. We worked on managing their excitement, building engagement, guiding them with clear communication and using a reward system.

Their owners did an awesome job!

The holiday season is here! 🎅
It brings excitement, house traffic with gatherings and social activities. This is a reminder that it can at times be overwhelming for our dogs.

As dog owners, it’s our responsibility to prioritize their well-being, advocate for their needs and make smart choices about their socialization and rest.
Not every gathering or situation is dog friendly and even social dogs need a break from people/ dogs sometimes.
Give thought to which events our dog should attend and when they could do with some relaxed time.

🐶Utilise crate time/ safe place.
🎄Stick to their routine as much as you can to keep the sense of stability.
🐶Give them a good walk before a long day/ event.
🎄Avoid overwhelming your dog with too many new people, dogs or environments.
🐶Advocate for them.
