Angel's Kitten Rescue North Shore

Angel's Kitten Rescue North Shore I rescue, foster, desex, and find forever homes for abandoned, orphaned & homeless kittens. You can donate directly into my rescue kittens account below.

I rescue, foster, desex, and find forever homes for abandoned, orphaned & homeless kittens, queens with kittens and pregnant queens. I am a member of the Auckland Community Cat Coalition Inc and have been for thirteen years. The adoption fee I charge covers some of the cost of worm and flea treatments, vet check, desexing, microchipping, medicine, and food & litter while they are in my care. I pro

vide a warm, safe and loving place for the very vulnerable, kittens, mums with kittens and pregnant mums who have been abandoned and are homeless and have nowhere to go. I also bottle feed very young orphaned kittens who have lost their mums. All my rescues are provided with nutritious food and fresh water every day, and warm soft clean bedding to snuggle in. They are treated for worms and fleas and get veterinary care when required. They are given lots of toys to play with and they all receive heaps and heaps of love, cuddles and attention until they are adopted into a new forever home. All my rescued kittens are desexed, microchipped and NZCAR registered prior to going to their new forever homes. I get no funding at all, thats mean no sponsors, and no annual grants like other larger rescues. I pay for everything needed to do my rescue work from the adoption fee I charge. Please donate to help save the lives of these very vulnerable cats and kittens. Angels Kittens

A rescue story eight months on...about a stray cat "Quitty" and her three kittens "Flossie, Forest and Fern"

Eight months ago back in November of 2023 I rescued three kittens that were born to a stray mother under a house. Two of the kittens were shifted by the mother cat across a building site and into some thick bush, we went looking and found the kittens. The kittens were with me until they were adopted out and in that time I had the mother cat desexed and returned her back to the property where she was being fed as she was semi social.
Since I did that rescue job I have been sent updates and photos from the families who adopted the kittens, and from the family who takes care of the mother cat.
Its always really heart warming to see the end result of the effort thats put into rescueing...these cats have a wonderful life, and their families absolutely love and adore them🥰
Enjoy the photos!
I so love seeing my ex rescues all grown up🤩

Bentley & Wesley in their new home

Today Bentley & Wesley went to their new home, they now live on a six acre life style block in Dairy Flat where there are hens, goats and sheep and plenty of space to enjoy a wonderful life with their new family.
Bentley & Wesley are the most fortunate kittens on the North Shore...going from being dumped on the side of the road emaciated, dehydrated and very sick, and Bentley having a birth deformity and just left to die...then being rescued by a member of the public who saw them being dumped...then me taking them in when no one else would...then to the most kind hearted vet and vet nurses who performed a sucessful life saving repair surgery on Bentley... and also everyone who donated money and food...and now to being adopted by such a lovely family.
I have a saying that I say from time to time, Bentley & Wesley "fell down the toilet and came up with a gold nugget". Thank heavens for good people!!
Here are some photos taken today of Bentley & Wesley settling in with their new family🥰

THEY HAVE NOW BEEN ADOPTED TOGETHER BY A LOVELY FAMILY IN A RURAL HOME

Bentley & Wesley are now available for adoption together
(I will not seperate)

Bentley & Wesley are a beautiful bonded pair of boys, blue grey in colour, they are super friendly, sociable, playful, and they love people and other cats, and they love pats and cuddles

Two months ago these two boys were dumped on the side of Dairy Flat Highway on rush hour, they were seen being dumped and were picked up by a member of the public. The kittens were nothing but skeletons, starving, dehydrated and very sick. They are very fortunate kittens to have been saved. They are now the most beautiful happy healthy kittens as you can see

Adoption fee: $200 each

The adoption fee I charge covers some of the cost of worm and flea treatments, vet check, desexing, microchipping and NZCAR registration

To adopt a kitten is a fifteen to twenty year commitment, you will need to provide a permanent home, and be able to afford vet bills and food for the cats for the rest of their lives

I am not a "first come first served" type of rescue, my number one priority is to find the best homes possible for my kittens

Only approved adopters can meet my kittens, adoption criteria applies

If you would like to adopt Bentley & Wesley and can provide a safe environment to roam away from traffic, and a secure and loving forever home for the rest of their lives then please contact Angel on 09 444 2916 or 0273240262 to apply for adoption. *UPDATE*
Bentley's surgical repair is complete

Yesterday Bentley went into the vets to have his sutures and splint removed after one month of having them in place for his pectus excavatum repair. His sternum has now set in the right position permanantly as he has grown, and he now weighs 2kg.
After wearing his recovery suits for all that time all he wanted to do was clean himself furiously while in the vet nurses arms.
Bentley has become the most loved patient at the vet clinic, they all just adore him, he is so cuddly, friendly and smoochy. He also is now enjoying playing with his brother again and the other older kittens I have.
Bentley's vet said yesterday thats its very satisfying to have fixed him up from the dying kitten he was to a now 100% fit and healthy kitten.
Bentley is so fortunate to have had this surgery to fix his rib cage, hes gone from a very sick, starving kitten with a congenital defect that was dumped on the side of the road to a now beautiful healthy normal kitten.
Im so grateful to everyone who helped me help Bentley😊

Donations appreciated

I have had a couple of donations of kitten food, toys and hand knitted blankets for the kittens Bentley and Wesley.
The food and toys were donated by a lady who adopted a kitten off me a few years ago and has always kept in touch and helps out with food and toys.
The cute little blankets were donated by an 88 year old lady who hand knits them to help out rescues.
I would like to thank them very much for their generosity that helps and supports me to help the kittens🥰

Photos from Bentley's Pectus Excavatum repair surgery

Pectus Excavatum is a congenital defect where the sternum bends in towards the spine resulting in a concave rib cage putting pressure on the heart and lungs.

In the first xray you can see how Bentley's sternum is bent upwards towards his heart and lungs. Then photos of Bentley having his surgery, and then xrays of after surgery of his sternum in its new position pulled down and away from his heart and lungs, and all held in place with sutures holding the sternum down, and through the skin and tied through the external splint and secured by lead shot fishing sinkers which you can see on the xrays.

If anyone would like to donate a few dollars towards the cost of the surgery, and his on going vet care, and with his food etc you can donate to 12-3136-0360826-00 it would be a huge help😊

Bentley's new recovery suits

Bentley's new recovery suits arrived today and they are much better than the modified baby clothes. He needs to wear these for a number of weeks yet until his sternum has firmed up enough to stay in its new position. He will be having regular weekly vet checks. Bentley looks very cute donning his new outfit🤩 and as he needs to be supervised constantly he has been out today to the supermarket and to Bunnings where I wheel him around in the trolleys...he gets quite a bit of attention🧐
Yesterday Bentley had another follow up vet visit with more xrays to make sure his sternum is still in its proper position and to check for any complications. Everything checked out good and he is happy😊
Bentley's three new suits were paid for by donated funds, thank you very much for donating to help Bentley😊

Bentley has had his surgery

Three days ago last Tuesday Bentley had his life saving surgery to help correct his deformed rib cage.
He was born with a birth defect called pectus excavatum where the sternum bends inwards towards his spine putting pressure on his lungs and heart. Without surgery he would have died as a result of breathing and heart problems as he grew bigger leaving no room for the lungs and heart to grow.
Bentley's vet has pulled the sternum back into position with sutures and keeping everything in place with an external splint that the sutures are attached to. Bentley's breathing is normal now as before the surgery his breathing was quite laboured. Bentley has to wear his splint for a month or so so that his rib cage fuses into this new position. He will have regular vet visits to monitor his progress and have the sutures tightened as needed. Bentley has to wear a tiny new born baby singlet to keep him from kicking his splint with his back legs and to stop him from chewing the top of it. There is a hole cut out for his tail and bottom so he can go toilet. I have ordered a couple of proper kitten recovery suits online for Bentley as he does get a bit of wee on his singlets which I am constantly washing. He is happy and just wants to play but he has to stay in his crate without his brother Wesley, they can see each other though but not allowed to play together.
Bentley needs constant supervision in case he wriggles out of his singlet so if I go out I take him with me, he has already been out and about in my ute, and to pac n sav in his carry cage in the shopping trolley and yes we get looked at.
Check out Bentley & Wesley's rescue story in the post dated 10 March...it is very sad!!
If anyone would like to donate a few dollars towards the cost of the surgery, his new recovery suits and his on going care with his food etc you can donate to 12-3136-0360826-00 it would be a huge help😊

Bentley & Wesley update

These two kittens are doing great as you can see by the photos.
I would like to thank the very generous people who kind heartedly donated some money towards the care of Bentley & Wesley. The funds have paid for their antibiotics, other medications, veterinary prescription food, other special foods, pet milk, and kitty litter etc.
I have always considered rescue cats and kittens the responsibility of the whole community. Without the kindness of people in our communities kittens like these two would have no chance of surviving at all. From the people who pick them up off the street and finding them help, to rescues who take them in, to fosterers, to the vets and vet nurses who doctor them, to the generosity of people who donate money to pay for life saving supplies and then to the people who adopt the kittens providing them with a loving home. So everyone out there keep supporting the community cats and kittens who need our help...they have no voice...they need us all to make this world a better place for them🥰

Dumped out of a car on the road and left to die!!

These two little kittens were dumped four days ago on the side of Dairy Flat Highway. A lady was driving along and saw a car parked on the side of the road with the door open dumping something out. She had a gut feeling to turn around and go look at what was dumped out. When she stopped and looked she saw these two little babies sitting there so she scooped them up and put them in her car.
When these kittens arrived into my care straight after being dumped they were in the most horrific state of dehydration and starvation. They were nothing but shriveled up skeletons in fur, covered in fleas, and sick with cat flu.
The kittens were immediately given lots of fluids under the skin via a drip line, and given a glucose solution drop by drop on their gums as it is quickly absorbed through the soft tissues of the mouth.
The smaller kitten I named "Wesley" was so sick and weak that I had to give him one glucose drop every 5 minutes, then two drops every 10 minutes for four hours as he couldnt swallow. The next day I started the kittens on kitten formula and a soup of pureed hills id wet food acouple of mls each every two hours. Increasing amount and length of time as the days have gone by.
The kittens have heen having extra subcut fluids, antibiotic eye drops, antibiotics, treated for intestinal parasites, fleas, kept warm with a heat pad under their bedding, and fed regular nutricious meals. They both have gained weight, have energy, and their cat flu is getting better. They are now both lapping milk and food from a dish as from this morning.
The bigger kitten I named "Bentley" has a deformed rib cage, I noticed it when I first picked him up. When the vet examined him he told me that Bently has Pectus excavatum thats when the rib cage hasnt formed properly so he was born with it. It can be fixed with surgery hopefully, but wont know until Bentley has had xrays.
I dont know how anyone can dump kittens like this, those people who did this to them are a shameful disgusting disgrace to humanity!!!
I anyone would like to help with the cost of caring for these kittens you can donate to my kitten account 12-3136-0360826-00

**ATTENTION RESCUE GROUPS**

I am asking if any cat rescues groups can help this cat.

There is a stray ginger cat in need of medical treatment in Cresta Ave, Beach Haven, North shore. The ginger cat is living under a house/building and has been there for a couple of months with an eye injury/infection. The man who contacted me has no means to help this cat and has reached out to get this cat some help. I cannot do this rescue as I dont have the time or resources to do much rescue work these days.
If you can help this kitty then please txt me on 0273240262 and I will give you the mans name and phone number.

***UPDATE***

This kitten was picked up this afternoon by another cat rescue.
I would like to thank everyone for their help and support, and offers to foster or provide a home for this kitten. The kitten needed to go to another rescue to ensure desexing and microchipping before going to a new home.

**ATTENTION CAT RESCUERS**

Are any of you able to find room to take this tabby kitten in?
I got a call today from a member of the public who said she found this kitten on the road in Otahuhu, she saw the kitten run across the road in front of a car and then hid under a parked car. Another lady told her that she saw a car pull up open the door and dump the kitten out and drove off. This was in an area that had a dairy and laundromat etc. She grabbed the kitten from under the car and took him home because she didnt just want to leave the kitten there. She is not in a position to keep the kitten and is having trouble finding a rescue to take him in.
I myself cannot take in anymore kittens this year I just dont have the time or resources to do rescue on a large scale these days.
This kitten is super friendly and will be easy to rehome for the rescue who takes him.
If you have room to take this kitten then please txt me on 0273240262 and I will give you the name and phone number of the person who rescued him off the road after he was dumped, the kitten is currently with her.

An update on "Maddie"

A happy "Maddie" resting on her soft warm bed with a full tummy this afternoon.
She is doing so well, she is happy and eating well, she has four little meals per day of hills id mixed with hills ad wet food mixed with some water and sprinkled with a few royal canin babycat biscuits, she also has a 50/50 mix of kitten formula and vita pet milk. Maddie has put on 125g in the four days since she was rescued when she only weighed 400g, she is now 525g. Her cat flu has cleared up as she is on antibiotics, and she has been dewormed and deflead.
She spent the first two days crying for food but she had to be gradually transitioned from glucose solution, to a 50/50 mix of glucose/formula, then to full strength formula, then to a watery soup of hills id wet food mixed with water until what she is eating now. That process was due to the severe starvation and dehydration, not hydrating and too much rich food to soon can kill a kitten in that condition. And of course she was covered in fleas, which suck blood out of an already tiny sick kitten making them aenemic, pale and week.
If she had not been rescued the day she was she would have died as the very next day was a hot day, she just would not have survived. She is a little fighter and survived!!

Starving kitten near death

This morning at 8am this tiny little female kitten arrived in a shocking state of starvation, dehydration, and full of cat flu. She is nothing but a skeleton in fur. She only weighs 400g and the size of a five week old despite being about 8 weeks of age. She was so week all she wanted to do was lay down, and her gums and tongue were so pale. I syringed fed her glucose solution immediately before rushing her to the vet for sub cut fluids under the skin. I took her back to the vets in the afternoon as she was having trouble breathing because she was so clogged up from the flu. The vets and nurses there gave her some intensive care until she felt well enough to come home this evening.
She is now stronger and lapping a formula/glucose mixture, and is on antibiotics as well.
She was found on a worksite this morning when a man jumped out of his truck and nearly landed on her, he picked her up and rang around to find her some help. He rang me after a vet at Animates turned them away saying they only take sick kittens...WOW turning away a dying kitten!!! shame on them!!!
I have named this precious little scrap of life "Maddie"🥰

Update on "Sandy" the missing cat in Blockhouse Bay

Sandy has been found and is now home safe. Sandy was found three houses away after a physical search further afield of the neighbouring properties on Wednesday night, a trap was set on Thursday night at the property where she was hiding out in a backyard under some construction work. This morning I got the good news that Sandy had been trapped during the night last night and is now home safe.

The couple in their 70's who have been looking after Sandy for the last six weeks put in a huge effort of searching for Sandy apon my instructions of having to physically search in peoples properties themselves. I lent them a trap an taught them how to use it and gave support during the last week. So when Sandy escaped last week she had gone over the fence to the back of the back property then followed the fence line left going throught some heavy foliage three houses along where she came across the building site where it was quiet and chose to hid there.

The couple love Sandy dearly and will do anything for her so this wonderful older couple are now Sandy's permanent family. Sandy so deserves their love and dedicated commitment to her.
Sandy has a new name "Smudge".
I will be going to visit Sandy now "Smudge" in the New Year when she has settled down after her harrowing ordeal.
In the photo she is hiding in the wardrobe this morning after the shock of being trapped.

*HAS BEEN FOUND AND NOW HOME*

Missing in Block House Bay

This is a really sad story that weighs heavy on my heart.

Back in May of 2017 I took on a litter of 14 week old timid kittens that I tamed and got ready for homes and they were all adopted out. The most timid of the kittens was "Sandy" a sweet little girl who loved tummy rubs. She was the last to be adopted at the age of 8 months old.
Sandy was adopted out to Beach Road in Orewa, the person who adopted Sandy never replied to any of my follow up messages and refused any contact. So I have kept Sandy's microchip number registered in my name to this day.
Six years and three months has passed since then until I got an email from a vet clinic in Block House Bay Friday last week saying a client of theirs came in with a cat that she has been looking after for the last 6 weeks and this cat "Sandy" is registered to me. When I rang the vets they told me that Sandy had been living under a caravan in a caravan park and was now in Block House Bay, and that the cat was very feral. I was going to go and pick her up from the vets but everything just turned to custard.
The vets let the person who had Sandy take her back home the night before but Sandy escaped from their house last Thursday evening and is now missing. I have contacted this lady and I have visited for a scout around and under the neighbouring houses and have lent them a trap in the hope Sandy comes back.
I tried to contact the original adopter...no replies, no surprise there.
After doing my investigations this is what I found out.
Sandy had turned up all skin and bone at the Orewa Beach Holiday Park about July/August 2023 this year which is over the road from where she was first adopted in 2017. One of the workers at the Park looked after Sandy, feeding her and allowing her to go inside her caravan for warmth and affection for 3 months from August till October this year, and in August 2023 she placed an ad on the missing cats of Hibiscus Coast page asking for help...no response. This lady was in NZ on a work visa and left NZ a couple of months ago. So another lady who holidayed at Orewa but lives in Block House Bay took Sandy home for 6 weeks until she took Sandy to the vets and that is when Sandy was scanned for a chip and I was notified, and then I was told she was missing.
Sandy has lived in Orewa for just over 6 years since she was 8 months old, she is now 7 years old, she turned up skin and bone at the Park. I wonder what her life has consisted of in that time, I suspect as a stray, from the info I gathered she was very timid but sociable when food is involved, hid during the day and came out at dusk, a very good jumper and very quick. But Sandy warmed up to these ladies who took care of her and enjoyed their love and affection.
In the 5 months that these ladies looked after Sandy they never bothered to get her to a vet to scan her for a microchip.
Sandy is now missing in Block House Bay in an alien environment to her, she will have a hard time surviving, I hope she is rescued again, it will be the third time...so sad😥
Sandy went missing from mid Donovan St, Block House Bay, Auckland.
She is very timid and will be absolutely terrified and will be hiding so if you live in the area please do a search under your sheds, decks and house.
She responds to the name "Smudgy" thats what the last lady called her.
Please share far and wide and if this cat turns up anywhere please contact Angel.

Small outdoor cat house wanted

Hi, I am looking for a small waterproof outdoor cat house for a stray unsocialised cat that is looked after at a property. She is fed everday there and does sleep on their deck but when it rains she retreats to the underneath of the deck or into the native bush at the back of the property. She doesnt like going into the peoples house either and feels safer outside. This cat is the mother of the kittens I rescued recently and she has been trapped and desexed. When I left the trap there for her to go in and out of it to eat to get her used to the trap before trapping her for her desexing she actually would sleep in the trap using it as her new bed so that is how the idea came about to get this sweet little stray her own outdoor bed house.
If anyone has anything that would be suitable as an outdoor cat house and would like to donate it for this little kitty's comfort then please contact Angel on 0273240262 to arrange drop off or pick up.
This photo is of the little kitty that needs the outdoor house.
