Dewey the Griffon

Dewey the Griffon Dewey has now had all of his surgery and is in a loving forever home with his griffon brother Brutus.

I first heard wind of Dewey around 6 months ago and tried to find a home for him. Unfortunately no one wants to adopt a disabled dog who needs surgery, so I decided to rescue him myself and fundraise for his surgery so he can get the perfect home! He is in Auckland now in foster care with a vet nurse Alicia. He has the most severe patella luxation that the specialist has seen. He said the surgery

was reasonably urgent to improve Dewey's quality of life; that we have an ethical obligation to fix him up or put him down. Euthanasia will not be happening under any circumstances, so we are raising the $10-12k needed for his surgeries (and maybe more in the future). All support, love and of course donations are gratefully received.

The veterinary industry is an occupation where you have hazards everyday. You are trained to respect your patients and the situation.
I have even seen some owners that have thrown a punch. Court findings in comments.

Update: Dewey is a happy healthy wee boy now. His treatment is completely and he’s loving his life with his mama and his brother griff Brutus.
