We are so excited to let you know that the cross country is finally OPEN … phew ! I feel like I’ve been pregnant for 3 years 🤣🤣

What do you need to know ?

The XC has been designed by Glen Draper and is a training venue. Jump heights from wee logs to 95cm. All jumps are flagged. Some can be jumped both ways and are flagged accordingly. Please be aware of other riders, give space, be courteous and look after each other.

Entry fee is $25 per rider. This is to use the XC for 1 hour. It does not include going for a farm ride. If you want to do both please book each separately.

Keys will be issued for XC access. Come see me, I’ll give you a key, write your name on a tag. The key opens the blue padlock on the XC gate. The gate is to be locked on entry/exit. At the end of your ride bring the key back.

XC rules
1. No booking, no entry
2. Helmets must be worn
3. Body protectors must be worn
4. Jump to you and your horses ability
5. Falls must be reported 027-878-7584
6. Report any damage

XC riders are to use the marked route on the map for entry and exit.

Enjoy 👏

My office. Nothing quite like sitting on a hill, listening to Poppins, May, Sterling and Blue contendedly munching, peacocks calling and sheep bleating on a sunny day after huffing and puffing up (and down) the hill moving fences. Should have bought a ☕️ with me 🤣

Most of mine are well behaved, some have a few quirks 🙄 Must be happy to hack out alone, school horses, work independently, have good time management, attention to detail, happy to help take rides out around the farm, get horses ready for clients and have a friendly disposition. Hourly rate applies. Immediate start.

I’m so lucky to have clever neighbours. Repurposing a Christmas gift box into something useful because when you have every size Scoot Boot from 3-11 you also require storage for the spare parts 😆 Thanks Johan van der Gaag 😊🔨🪚

Who doesn’t enjoy a spot of mustering especially when it involves bringing some extra cuteness home. Mum was having a baaaad day and was convinced she had only had 1 baby not 3. Ewe know the story, she’d probably been up all night, laaaabour sucks, her b***s hurt, she had a bad case of post-partum depression, she was going to kill those kids. That was until Saint Jo and Saint Natalie happened to ride past on their trusty steeds staging an intervention any child protection agency would have been proud of. Two babies tucked up warm for the night in our foster care facility 🍼 Thanks ladies 👏🐴🐑🙄

The Equine Falls Training Course has been cancelled due to a lack of participants and last minute cancellations.

If you have already paid online could you send me a message with your bank account details for a refund. I’m also happy to swap for rides if you’d like to take up this option.

If there’s enough genuine interest for me to organise another day I’m happy to do so.

It’s going to be quiet for the next 3 weeks while the Chief Truck & Trailer Inspector is away. Daniel is taking part in the Adaptive Snowsports Festival next weekend which is a whole lot of fun. With any luck we might get snow tomorrow and Tuesday. Mum needs to brush up on putting chains on. If I can manage scoot boots on a horse how hard can it be 🤣🤣

Amanda Wilson is running Horsemanship Clinics around New Zealand this spring with limited venues and dates. On 24-25 August she will be coming here.

These clinics are specially catered for people wanting to develop a better relationship with their horse and cover body control work (including teaching rein back, hindquarter yield, forehand yield and side pass on the ground and ridden), horse communication, working through anxiety and fear thresholds and more.

These teachings are incredibly beneficial for building more confidence and understanding in horse and rider, with each clinic specially catered to provide attendees with a broad range of information and tools to advance their own unique level of horsemanship.

Price: $180 per horse/ handler + $15 ground fee per day. Spectators are also welcome to attend for $80.

Overnight yards & camping available.

The clinics start at 9:30am and run to 2-4pm. Handlers need to bring a rope halter, 12-foot lead, riding gear, hay and water for your horse and lunch.

Bookings are being taken by email [email protected] to secure your place.

Limited to 10-15 horses.
