Greyhound Racing New Zealand 'Greatmates' Rehoming Kennel in Cambridge, Waikato, New Zealand. Please check out our 'Greatmates-Levin' page too.

The Great Mates Rehoming Programme is dedicated to rehoming more greyhounds by providing full assessments, training, grooming, vet care and de-sexing, to fully prepare each retired racing greyhound in New Zealand for a new life as a pet. We want to give every dog the best chance of being successfully rehomed. Therefore, every dog that enters the GRNZ Great Mates Rehoming Programme will be assessed

not as a 'pass' or 'fail' but assessed in what areas they need extra training, to adjust to life as a pet. We are dedicated to making sure we are fair, consistent and successful in rehoming more retired greyhounds across the country. We have also established excellent partnerships with the following rehoming organizations: Greyhounds as Pets (GAP), May Hounds, Nightrave Greyhounds, and KiwiKiwi Hounds. Once each dog is ready for their new life as a pet, these agencies will perfectly match up a dog with a suitable family and continue supporting them after they have found their forever home. Greyhounds are wonderful to have as pets. They are loving, loyal, well-trained and easy-going dogs. They deserve a great retirement after their racing career ends, and we will make sure they get it!

This handsome lad is Web (Opawa Web)
He’s 5 yrs old
He has had an injury but is all healed now and he’s looking for his forever home
He’s a big boy at nearly 36kgs
He’s a very happy soul constantly wagging his tail
He really enjoys being brushed
He gets on well with other hounds and other breeds
He’s a real social butterfly would love going out for walks and to cafes
He would also be just as happy snuggling up next to u on the couch and watching a movie

So the handsome boy at the back is Bob (Hurricane Bob) and he is leaving us to go on a trial adoption today with May Hounds Charitable Trust - Greyhound Rehoming Group

Have u ever wanted to adopt a beautiful greyhound but didn’t because you had a cat
Well that isnt an issue because this beautiful girl is cat trainable

Her name is Bella she didn’t race because she didn’t want to
She is red fawn and 2 and a half years old

She loves other greyhounds and gets on fine with other breeds

She is scared of cats and prefers to avoid then

She loves going for walks

She LOVES food which will make further training with her very easy

She can be a little shy meeting new people but once she feels comfortable she is an absolute cuddle monster

This beautiful lady is Ana (Not Sure) She is very well named because in different situations she is not sure how to react She’s very sweet and affectionate when she’s comfortable with u She appears quite shy when first meeting strangers but does come round She could live with another hound She’s fine meeting other breeds of dog but can get quite excited until she works out it is another dog No cats please and older calm children would suit her best Please get in touch if u think this lovely girl would be a match for yr family ❤️
