Cambridge Cattery

Cambridge Cattery Cambridge Cattery is a small family run boarding cattery. Our promise is to provide the same care, l Here at Cambridge Cattery, we LOVE cats!
(38)

We have 4 cats of our own, who are all spoilt rotten! (Have a look at our "About Us" page) - And we treat all our guests the same way! - Our aim is to provide accomodation and care that we would feel comfortable leaving our cats in. Our Cattery is a purpose-built facility, set in peaceful countryside just 4km from Cambridge town centre in the Waipa District in Waikato. The Cattery is fully insulat

ed with options of private indoor / outdoor suites and / or communal accomodation. We regularly spend time with our feline guests in order to make them feel more comfortable and relaxed. BBC Radio 4 streams live over the internet in the background to provide soothing voices and that homely feel (we find that the daily "BBC Shipping Forecast" is especially soothing for our guests). Whether you are heading away on a business trip, holiday, or are in the process of moving, and need your much-loved cat properly cared for, please give us a call and come and see us.

Well, here they are. These are the photos of most of our current and recent guests from the last 2 weeks. I hope you enjoy them.

We have had around a dozen black cats staying with us during this period too, so I will post another round of photos with just the black cats in the next couple of days.

Happy New Year everyone.

Well, I’m not going to lie. The last week and a half has been absolutely exhausting catering to a full house of feline furry friends (and it will be like this for another week or so). - However our guests seem to be very much at home here and some of them have even made new friends over the festive holidays.

I have been taking lots of photos of our guests and having spent much of today sorting through them all, tomorrow I will be posting a plethora of individual portraits, so, if your furry family member is currently staying with us then there is a high probability you will see a photo of them then.

For today however there’s just a few group shots of some new found friendships… 😺

Did anyone see “The Project” on TV3 on Friday evening? - A photo of our cat, Powder was featured on their “Beat That” segment. We didn’t win and silly me forgot to mention his name when I submitted the photo, 🤦🏼‍♂️ but it was still exciting to see the photo on TV. 😺 - You can watch the segment below… (UPDATE - Link is no longer available)

We have had a very busy Easter weekend here at the cattery and I have lots of new photos of our recent guests.

I had planned to post them today, however that will have to wait until tomorrow as I received a message today from one of our regular customers informing me that one of her cats, Brogan has passed away at home today. - Brogan had recently turned 18 years old, so his passing was not completely unexpected. Brogan and his companion, Ghost, have been regular visitors with us for many years. He was a lovely natured cat and something of an old gentleman in character, and I am sad to hear of his passing.

So, today, in his memory here are some photos of Brogan taken over the years he stayed with us.

Chris, you have my sincere condolences. I know he will be sorely missed by both you and Ghost.

We have a busy Easter weekend coming up next week, but still have some spaces available if you havn’t yet made plans for going away. - Given that we havn’t had great weather over the summer, let’s just hope that the weather at least stays dry and sunny this time around so we can at least all feel like we have had something resembling a holiday before winter sets in.

Of course, a busy weekend also means plenty of photo opportunities of our guests, so I hope to have a bumper post of photos next weekend.

In the meantime, here’s another selection of some of our current and recent guests, including Benji relaxing in the sunlight and the affectionate but grumpy looking Bailey, both of whom have been with us for nearly 4 months but will be going home next week. Also, there is the equally grumpy looking but very loveable Max, and the visually impaired Brian who though reserved, loves a good chin rub… 😺

I almost cannot believe it’s nearly a quarter of the way through the year already and Easter is only a couple of weeks away. Hopefully the weather this Easter will be better than what we have had recently so that you can all have a break and we can look after your furry friends - and of course try to get some good photos of them for you. - Speaking of which, here are a few photos of our current and recent guests…😺

It’s been so long since I have done a Facebook post that I bet you thought we had disappeared…

…Nothing could be further from the truth though. We have have been so busy over the last few months with cats, kids, maintenance and improvements that social media has been way down on the list of priorities.

I know many of you have missed the photos that I take of our guests, but despite our absence from Facebook for so long, I have still been taking lots of photos of our guests and will be posting literally DOZENS of photos over the coming week.

For now though, I wanted to publicise a local business which I never knew existed until recently.

Did any of you know that Cambridge has it’s very own TAXI company? - I didn’t, until I had the privilege of accomodating the owner’s cat, Tiger. - Tiger is an incredibly friendly and sociable cat and a joy to have around. He went home today after nearly a month’s stay, and I will miss his boisterous personality. In the coming days, I’ll be posting a photo of him along with those of dozens of others of our guests over the past several weeks.

In the meantime however, I would like to give a big shout out to Cambridge Taxis. - Anyone who needs a Taxi in Cambridge definitely needs to know they exist. - And the owner is a thoroughly awesome person.

And stay posted for LOTS of cat photos over the coming days….

Cats, the cost of living and the “Cadbury” effect…

Here at Cambridge Cattery we have committed not to increase our prices this year, although we will have to on the 1st January 2023 due to the continued increase cost of pretty much everything.

Whilst we have not increased our prices, our service standards have not shrunk, unlike some cat foods… Although we use Royal Canin food here rather than Purina One, a customer of ours recently pointed out to us that they are now getting less value for money from their supermarket bought cat food than they were a few months ago.

It appears that not only have Purina rebranded their “One” range, they have also applied the “Cadbury” effect too by “shrinkflating” the bags by 200g from 1.59kg to 1.4kg (I call it the “Cadbury” effect because of the chocolate bar maker’s notorious history of shrinking the size of their products but keeping the price the same in order to hide the fact you aren’t getting the same value any more. - This now makes Purina One nearly twice as expensive as the better quality Royal Canin biscuits we use.

I’m sure Purina are not the only pet food brand to have done this, but such sneaky practices need to be highlighted. - So next time you are at the supermarket buying your furry friend’s favourite food, it may pay to check what you are getting for your money.

Oh, and by the way, we are nearly fully booked for Christmas and New Year, so if you are still needing a place for your feline family member for the holidays, then give us a call quickly…
