The busy week of racing continues with just one runner at Rotorua today. It's always a great family day out at Arawa Park so get your picnic lunch packed and head down in the sunshine ☀️☀️☀️

RACE 4 - 2.22pm
GOLDEN CENTURY - 2nd 👏👏: Steps up to the 1560mts and drawn well in gate 6. The tight turning Rotorua track may not be ideal for him but his work has been very pleasing and we can not fault his lead up. We expect him to run a competitive race with Ryan Elliot in the saddle.

NEW PLYMOUTH RACES

Two head down the line to Taranaki :

RACE 2 - 1.24pm
PINK GIN : - 2nd 🩷🩷🩷On debut after a pleasing trial at Counties. Green but with a professional attitude for a young filly. Being used as another trial and will only improve with the race day experience under her belt. A group of mostly lady owners who will be riding her all the way home 😂🩷 ( pictured)

RACE 6 - 3.44pm
APPROACHING - 3rd 👍👍: Starts in the Pearl Series 1400mts. Her coat has finally improved and we hope to see a marked improvement on her previous runs. She has promising Japanese apprentice Yuga Okubo claiming 4kgs which should be a big advantage.

ELLERSLIE BOXING DAY RACES

I hope everyone had a very merry xmas, thought's to most of our jockeys who would have been on rations for the day 🙈. A busy week ahead for the industry with race meeting up & down the country.

RACE 4 - 2.08pm
ACQUARELLO : - 2nd 🫶🫶Trialed nicely at Counties after a 10 day freshen up. Drawn a touch sticky in gate 7 but whatever she does today she will only improve on to be competitive in the Westbury Classic in 3 weeks time.

RACE 5 - 2.43pm
POETIC JUSTICE: - 2nd 🙌🏼🙌🏼As you would expect it is a competitive field on a big day. Based on his work and condition we have decided to run for the better prizemoney, has Rory Hutchings over from Aussie to ride and we'd like to think he'll run a better race than his price suggests.

RACE 6 - 3.23pm
HIGH COUNTRY - 2nd 🙌🏼🙌🏼: Looks in fantastic condition and again unlucky with the wide gate draw. Has gun jockey Blake Shinn in the saddle where he will have to go forward and hopefully get some luck. All going well he will head to Wellington in a few weeks time.

RACE 8 - 4.32pm
HONEY BADGER - 8th 👍: Runs in the group 2 Eight Carat Classic where she has drawn well in gate 2 as she steps up to the mile for the first time. Obviously a hot field of fillies but she deserves to have a crack at this level and won't mind the rain effected footing.

RACE 10 - 5.46pm
OVERDRAWN : - 10th 👍This is the race we have aimed him at some months ago. Again, a competitive race but he has done everything right leading into today and looks to be a good each way chance. Drawn nicely in gate 5 with Rory Hutchings in the saddle.

TE RAPA RACES

Looks like you'll need the raincoat at the races today with heavy downpours predicted this afternoon. I'm sure nothing that will dampen the Christmas cheer 🍒🎅🥂🍻🍾

RACE 2 - 1.50pm
DIMAGGIO : -5th 🙂Thriving this preparation and today's looks to be a suitable race for him in the small 8 horse field. Drawn gate 1 and has a tongue tie applied with Matt Cartwright in the saddle.

RACE 4 - 3.00PM
HARLOW ROCKS : Fresh up after a long break. She trialed nicely this week at Counties and she looks in fantastic order. The 1400mts is going to be short of her best but it looked a nice race to kick her preparation off.

RACE 6 - 4.10pm
URLAR : Drops back in trip to the 1600mts. Drawn a sticky barrier in gate 10 so will have to slot in behind but is in great condition and thriving in her work. Will need some luck today but we hope to see her run home strongly.

RACE 7 - 4.45pm
MALDINI : Steps up to middle distance for the first time now he is starting to settle more in his races. A small but competitive field where we should see a bold run from him today despite gate 7 in the small field. It may just be the place to be if the rain appears beforehand.

PAX MUNDI- 2nd 🫶🫶 : Holding her condition well and today looks to be a small but competitive field as she steps up to the 1400mts. Drawn nicely in gate 6 with English jock George Rooke on board.

WITZ END : - 3rd 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼He’s freshened up nicely since his trip down south and galloped nicely at Te Rapa during the week. This is a stepping stone towards the 4yo Karaka mile, but from a soft gate he should make his presence felt .

POETIC JUSTICE -2nd 👍👍: Steps up to 1600mts and drawn nicely from gate 5. Blinkers have been applied after his disappointing start at Taranaki. He’s shown us he has ability but needs to put it togeather on race day. He will appreciate the bigger track and right handed way at Tauranga.

TWILIGHT AT ELLERSLIE

Four runner's head up this afternoon where I'm sure there will many Christmas celebrations going on.

RACE 2 - 4.15pm
WIND OF CHANGE -1st 👏👏👏: She running in consistent form and looks in great condition. This will be her final run in NZ before flying to Australia on Sunday to be served by Storm Boy. Looks to be a good each way chance but would be nice to see her in the winners circle pre departure.

RACE 5 - 5.29pm
NATURE RESERVE : - 10th - On debut and will take alot of improvement from today's run. She is still maturing both mentally and physically but has a lovely staying action and will only improve with the race day experience under her belt.

WIND RUSH - 2nd 👏👏: Drops in class back to maiden company from gate 1. A big actioned horse that prefers the track a bit firmer so fingers crossed the rain doesn't fall to heavy. He is a promising horse to look out for going forward.

RACE 6 - 6.58pm
MALDINI : - 4th 👍Unfortunately drawn wide from gate 10 in the small but competitive field. He will need a touch of luck from this gate to get some cover but we should see him running home boldly with Sam Weatherley in the saddle.
