Turnontheglam (3f Turn Me Loose - Glamazon) kicked off her preparation in outstanding fashion winning the Entain/NZB Insurance Pearl Series Maiden 1200.
She got a beautiful run in behind the leading bunch, and the right gaps opened for her to kick through and win by 3/4 of a length at any old odds ($41 fixed). A great ride by Brett Murray, who is edging closer to 100 career wins (96).
Congratulations to Glams owners, C T Cahill, S Harvey, M Hogan, M Dewe, P Corkery, G Shirley, P Chisholm, P Langford who have been incredibly patient - so pleased to see them rewarded with win one from start two for the daughter of Turn Me Loose.
A filly who will improve a lot with that run under her belt, and I am looking forward to seeing how she progresses this preparation.
Playing catch up after the two days at Cromwell last weekend.
Mis Speaks showed she was back in form after a below par three year old season running second the first day, and backing up the second day to win the Positive Signs & Print R65 1200m $40,000 in the hands of Terry Moseley, who gave her a pearler of a ride.
A massive thank you to Katie Readings who took ‘Suzy’ under her wing to give her six weeks of dressage and jumping schooling along with some road riding to have a change of scenery.
Thanks to Noel Nicholson for allowing Katie, Dad and myself to lease the lovely daughter of Speith, and to Terry for not losing the faith and sticking with our girl.
A quiet couple of weeks for the team, before we head into the silly season, starting at Ashburton next week with Ataahuawhatadream and Call Me.
One to race tomorrow at Phar Lap Raceway, Timaru.
1.02pm R2. ATAAHUAWHATADREAM - Ashvin Goindasamy.
Having her first run for the stable. A lovely type of mare who won a trial nicely to prepare for this. Wide draw to overcome, but with an economical run think she is capable of a nice showing here. She will continue to keep improving with racing under her belt and as she steps up over more ground.
Good luck to Jeanette Brown who bred and owns the lovely daughter of Rip Van Winkle.
One to race on Sunday at Ashburton.
1.56pm R3. ALBERTON ANGEL - Denby-Rose Tait (a3)
Very pleased with how she’s trained on from her fresh up run for 4th at Timaru in a stronger field. Denby is riding in terrific form and know she will give her every possible chance from a tricky outside gate.
Good luck to the Green & Gold Syndicate and Jonny Orr who share in the ownership of our little pocket rocket, better known as ‘Bree’ around the stable!
The team enjoying a cold but stunning morning in Canterbury ☀️🫶🏻
Eve (2f Vanbrugh - Acute) having her first look at the gates this morning. She’s got a super attitude towards her work. A pleasure having her here to educate for her owner, Adrian Bull.
A nice day out with the girls today at the trials. Both still quite green but learning the racing caper.
Turnontheglam trialled well for third without being asked a lot from her, she jumped well from the gates and got amongst runners then found the line under her own steam. A nice educational ride from Floor Moerman.
Holdem having her second trial after going shin sore last prep, got away from the gates well to lead, and had to be kept up to the task by Brett Murray wanting to switch on and off throughout the running to win her trial by a nice margin at the post.
Really pleased by both fillies and can’t watch to watch their progression over the next few months.
📹: Holdem loving her work past the post.
Two of our two year old fillies taking advantage of the beautiful, warm morning to take to the pool for the first time. Ally (2f Ace High - Hannah Marene) and Eve (2f Vanbrugh - Acute) loved the water!
Eve (2f Vanbrugh - Acute) hasn’t been the easiest horse to break in, but due to the patience and understanding of each horse at KW Racing she’s finally made an appearance at the track. Katie was really pleased with how rideable she was on her first morning. A massive thanks to Krystal, Floor and team - we couldn’t be more happy with the breakers they’ve done for us this season.
2f Ace High - Hannah Marene going round well in her first preparation at the track. Thanks Kezia Murphy for the company!
Turnontheglam (2f Turn Me Loose - Glamazon) with Floor Moerman up was our sole runner at the jumpouts today. She is now ready for the next step of heading to the trials in a couple of weeks time.
