Good luck to Enough Said and Leisa Keightley in the Love Racing 5k Eventers Stakes at Matamata today!

Better known as Harvey around the stables, he won two races on the track before being retired due to a wind issue.

It’s great to see him thriving in his career off the track as an eventer. Thank you to Pinoaks Park for finding him a lovely home with Leisa, I look forward to continue watching him progress as a sport horse.

One to race today at Wingatui.

3.35pm R5. TURNONTHEGLAM - Brett Murray
Gave us a pleasant surprise fresh up winning at just her second start over a distance we think is short of her best. Steps up to 1400 today and up in class. She’s continued to improve in her work, and looking forward to seeing what she brings today.

Good luck to Glams team of owners C T Cahill, S Harvey, M Hogan, M Dewe, P Corkery, G Shirley, P Chisholm, P Langford, looking forward to catching up on course today!

She’s coped well with the trip and was more than happy to hide in her feed bowl at dinner time after her long trip in the truck.

Eve (2f Vanbrugh - Acute) enjoying being back in the stable routine after a few weeks pre training with Katie.

She is an absolute delight to have in the stable, we look forward to seeing her hopefully progress towards a trial this preparation for her owner, Adrian Bull.

Turnontheglam (3f Turn Me Loose - Glamazon) kicked off her preparation in outstanding fashion winning the Entain/NZB Insurance Pearl Series Maiden 1200.

She got a beautiful run in behind the leading bunch, and the right gaps opened for her to kick through and win by 3/4 of a length at any old odds ($41 fixed). A great ride by Brett Murray, who is edging closer to 100 career wins (96).

Congratulations to Glams owners, C T Cahill, S Harvey, M Hogan, M Dewe, P Corkery, G Shirley, P Chisholm, P Langford who have been incredibly patient - so pleased to see them rewarded with win one from start two for the daughter of Turn Me Loose.

A filly who will improve a lot with that run under her belt, and I am looking forward to seeing how she progresses this preparation.

Three to race tomorrow on our home track at Riccarton Park.

2.45pm R2. HOLDEM - Corey Campbell
Bold effort fresh up having to work hard to get across to lead from a wide alley. Has improved with the run under her belt, and better draw will be of assistances. Think she’s capable of another nice performance.

4.30pm R5. TURNONTHEGLAM - Brett Murray
Nice big filly fresh up. Had one start last preparations and found the line nicely. She missed a trial last week with Timaru trials being cancelled. Can imagine she will improve with a run under her belt.

5.47pm R7. HIVARI - Brett Murray
Didn’t see clear air until late in the race last start and flew home for second. Racing in great form. He’s still green and will need to do things right in which looks a strong rating 75 race.

Good luck to the connections involved in Sam, Glam and Wally!

African Lady (2f Ace High - Hannah Marene) having her first look at the race gates this morning with Brett Murray aboard. A little unsettled at first but took it all in her stride. Looking forward to heading to the next set of trials with her.

Three to race tomorrow at Riccarton Park.

2.45pm R2. HOLDEM - Corey Campbell
Won her trial nicely last week at Ashburton. Has strengthened up during her spring break and looks ready to kick off her preparation. Wide draw to overcome but hoping to see her finish off strongly.

6.24pm R8. BLUE VEIN - Floor Moerman (a4)
Has been a victim of bad barrier draws and strikes another one here. Honest horse who will relish having weight off his back with Floor on board. Hoping to see him bounce back to his usual consistent form.

6.24pm R8. HIVARI - Brett Murray
Got too far back last start and roared home in great sectionals for 6th. Looking to take advantage of a good barrier draw here to be a few spots handier in the running and hit the line hard.

Good luck to all the connections involved in Sam, Smurf and Wally!

Tomorrow we head to Gore with two last start winners to race on Sunday.

3.25pm R7. MIS SPEAKS - Terry Moseley
Put together a superb form line this preparation stringing together a couple of seconds and wins in her four runs so far. Takes the next step up in grade her, but continues to thrive and is well in her work.

4.03pm R8. ALBERTON ANGEL - Brett Murray
Very impressive victory at Kumara. Has trained on well since. Takes her first look at black type here. Drawn to get an economical run from barrier two. We couldn’t be more pleased with how she has progressed this campaign.

Good luck to Paul Cunneen, Katie Readings, the Green N Gold Syndicate and Jonny Orr with their runners!

One to race at Riccarton on Saturday.

2.10pm R5. HIVARI - Brett Murray
A nice run second up with getting held up on multiple occasions and getting caught in restricted room up the straight to run 6th. A horse we think has got a lot of ability going forward. Barrier 5 suits and think he’ll give another bold showing stepping up to 1400m.

Good luck to Richard and Grant Woolford with ‘Wally’.

Our very own Katie Readings having a go on the horse simulator yesterday gaining lots of great advice and tips from the Southern Apprentice Mentor, Jason Laking. Katie is working towards gaining her amateur jockey licence in the next few weeks.

Lucky to have her as a part of the team, she has been doing a tremendous job to keep things running smoothly while I have been out of action.

A super day for the team yesterday at Kumara getting a double.

Alberton Angel was the first to salute in the Entain/NZB Insurance Pearl Series MDN F&M 1150m, ridden by Brett Murray.

Making use of the the number one gate, she flew the barrier and travelled comfortably throughout. Brett guided her to win by 2.8 lengths at the line.

A great way to kick off her new preparation for the Green & Gold Syndicate and Jonny Orr, who race the daughter of Darci Brahma out of Magic Briar.

In between, we had Blue Vein who raced in a very strong field of rating 80 sprinters from a wide gate, he was run off his feet early and Brett looked after him and didn’t knock him round after no luck early in the race.

We finished the day on another high with Mis Speaks gaining her third career win in the McMullan ITM Rating 65 1150m with Terry Moseley aboard.

She flew the gate from barrier three, and led during the race to kick clear of all her challengers at the 50m mark to win comfortably by 1.3 lengths at the line.

Congratulations to Paul Cunneen and Katie Readings who race Suzy, a mare by Spieth out of Indiscretions with me. We are having a lot of fun this preparation with her.

Thank you to Katie Readings, Lydia Truesdale and Maggie Bowles for their help with the horses especially with the runners all back to back.

To our jockeys, Brett and Terry. They are a massive part of the day to day running of the stable, so always a pleasure to have them gain success on our team.

Also a huge thank you to all that helped after a minor mishap while saddling Mis Speaks, especially to Bill Phiskie, Paul Yesberg, Dave Ferriman and the St John staff that made sure I got out of the tie ups quickly and had treatment straight away. I’m a bit battered and bruised but hope to be back on my feet as soon as possible!

Looking forward to heading to Kumara on Saturday with three runners.

12.57pm R2. ALBERTON ANGEL - Brett Murray
Resumes after having a month in the paddock following three nice performances in the spring. Draws the ace gate here, where she will put herself right in contention.

1.34pm R3. BLUE VEIN - Brett Murray
Gallant performance at Kurow after working hard early to get handy from a wide gate. Unfortunately, draws another wide marble here, but is as honest as they come, any extra rain will help his chances.

2.07pm R4. MIS SPEAKS - Terry Moseley
Racing in great form this preparation. She will jump and put herself forward from barrier three. Terry gets on well with her and think the pair of them will be competitive once again.

Good luck to all connections involved with Bree, Smurf and Suzy! Kumara is one of the highlights each year for the team - a super day of grassroots racing!

Two to head to Kurow tomorrow - one of our favourite trips of the year!

4.12pm R7. MIS SPEAKS - Terry Moseley
Has come back in great form this season when racing both days at Cromwell for a second and a win. A mare we’ve always had a lot of time for but had her issues too. Wide draw to overcome tomorrow, but a track which with a bit of luck suits her racing style. She’s extremely well, which I found out first hand this morning, so hoping for another bold performance.

6.03pm R10. BLUE VEIN - Brett Murray
He backed up an average run the first day at Cromwell, with a very gritty effort for third the second day. He has trained on well, but also has a wide draw to overcome. So will be needing things to go his way early in the race, but his sort of track and this run should bring him on nicely before we look to head to the coast.

Good luck to all involved in Suzy and Smurf!

One to race tomorrow at Timaru

5.12pm R7. HIVARI - Brett Murray
Goes into this reasonably fresh after last winning on the first day of Cup Week. Drawn one again. Rises up in class. He’s a lovely progressive horse for the team and continues to please.

Good luck to Richard and Grant Woolford who race Wally!

Christmas Eve is a great night to reflect on the year that has been.

I’m so lucky to be surrounded by good people, through the good times and hard times that racing throws at us.

A special mention to Katie Readings, my absolute rock. Ups and downs that come in racing, she’s always there and works hard for our stable to achieve our goals.

Terry Moseley; who is always there everyday to carry the team on the busier mornings and when Katie is injured. To see him win on Mis Speaks at Cromwell after the odd issue she’s had was so exciting for all involved and very well deserved. We wouldn’t have you any other way.

Brett Murray, we love watching you grow. It may have not been smooth sailing making the transition to being an apprentice to senior jockey, but extremely proud of how hard you’ve worked this year and to get the results on the board. We are excited about your association with Hivari, when he hasn’t been the easiest horse at times, but the talent has always been evident for the both of you, and you’ve always made the effort to be there to help him grow as a racehorse.

Corey Campbell for showing up to help when you’re up in Canterbury and stepping up to ride the team on raceday when needed. The win on Shinto was something special as we knew he was racing on borrowed time, but a horse who meant a lot to all of our team.

And to Dad, Paul Cunneen. The biggest supporter of the team. Win, lose or draw, for being there for advice, or to lead the team in. We appreciate the work behind the scenes, especially getting new people involved in syndicates amongst our team.

Wishing all our owners and supporters a very Merry Christmas! I’m so thankful to have a stable that is surrounded by amazing people.
