My ducks are trying to start new life, and while this nest won't result in ducklings (we have no time before the big move) the ducks might have the chance at our new location!

Sad news... Due to a series of circumstances out of our control, Jerry and I are leaving Christchurch. I will no longer be available for work after 13 September this year as I simply won't be able to do it. Therefore, Chch Pets At Home will be shutting down.

Apologies to everyone who was counting on me to be available for the Christmas/New Year period. While there has been talk of me still coming back to housesit, I honestly don't think I would be capable of it. I do find long travels and housesitting to be stressful, one of the big reasons I leaned more into pet visits and dog walks this year.

While this has not been our first or easiest choice, now that the decision has been made I feel that it's the right one for us. Thank you so, so much for all your support over the years, and especially the last 6 months. I will miss all of the pets I've bonded with.

We have news! Our landlord has given us notice and we have to find a new place to live by the end of September. Do you know of any pet-friendly rentals suitable for a couple in Christchurch? I have a new home lined up for the ducks already just in case but Ender will be staying with us.

Oh, my Bliss! This was one of my own girl rats, Bliss, at a "rat meet" 8 years ago. While raiding one of the public food bowls she got tired and slept in it like this! As an old lady she continued to hoard food into a pile so she could sleep on it, like a little dragon with her hoard.

Yes, I'm very happy to care for cages of rats! They will get lots of cuddles with me!

I love taking care of all sorts of pets, including rats, guinea pigs, ducks, chickens, mice, budgies, rabbits, and fish! I have owned and fostered cats and rats in the past as well as kept and bred fish, and been involved with local clubs and rescues.

Today my pets are our cat Ender, and our six backyard ducks: Sir Quackalackin, Diva, Ichigo, Nigo, Yongo, and Bisky. The photo is of Nandy, one of my pet rats from several years ago. Sadly I'm not allowed rats at my current flat so I'd be so happy to come cuddle yours while you're away from home!

Hope everyone has had a safe and happy Easter! I just got home from housesitting for 2 weeks and I'm so glad to be back home. The rest of my April bookings cancelled meaning the rest of my month has completely opened up for pet feeding visits. Send me a message if interested!

This work is my only source of income this year and I appreciate my customers so, so much! I haven't been supplemented by a benefit and only Jerry's earnings are keeping us afloat so huge appreciation to everyone who has recommended my services to others. You are all amazing!

This darling is 19 years old! I have looked after him since 2019. I was able to spend precious, quality time with him over Easter and it was very hard to say goodbye.

Her ball is well chewed and half deflated. She tosses it into the air, covers it in slobber then shoves it into my lap waiting expectantly for me to throw it for her. Obviously a favourite toy!

Someone was a bit wet after her big walk in the rain. I brought my raincoat and gumboots!
I normally don't offer dog walking but this is negotiable depending on the dog and my health. I'm certainly happy to talk about it. 😀

I still get a lot of enquiries for housesitting and I want to remind everyone that mine is a drop-in service only. I only do housesitting for close friends and previous housesitting clients. This is so I can be at home with my family as much as possible. I do know of others looking for housesitting work in Christchurch, and can maybe help connect you with other options with enough notice (no promises!).

My partner is from the US and we have spent enough years long-distance. While housesitting is nice, it does separate us, and while he's also a pet lover and wants to help, we have to think of our own pets at home when trying to juggle more than one.

It wasn't an easy decision for me and I hope you can understand. I can always do with income as this is my only source right now, and I want to say yes and help everyone, so it's hard to refuse but it's just not what I'm looking to do anymore.

I like to spend time with pets at their level, especially when they are shy. This is a new client who doesn't know me well yet. Here I'm on the floor letting her make the approach and smooch me. You can tell she's comfortable because her tail is up.
