I spent months going back and forth on whether to reopen the business or if it’s time for me to find a “real job”. But ultimately I decided that Pets and Jess is my passion and isn’t the goal to find a job that makes you happy?

So Pets and Jess will be reopening temporarily from October 14 to December 11 where I will have a full break over Christmas while my friend from the UK is visiting. January 6th will be the official reopen date which I will properly announce closer to the time.

I’m still overseas for a few weeks yet but you’ll know when I’m back because I will definitely be sharing videos of me reuniting with the girls!

Thank you to everyone who has supported my small business over the past few years, I will forever be grateful that I got to call this my job.
I’ve worked with some incredible animals who all mean the world to me and leaving breaks my heart (don’t get me started on leaving my own pets 🤣) but here’s to exploring the world 🥳

As most of you know by now, I’m heading overseas soon and will be gone for around a year. Because of this, Pets and Jess will be closing indefinitely from August 11th. I have had a couple of other local dog walkers offer to take on my existing clients, you are more than welcome to make the move over to a new walker at any time between now and when I leave. Genevieve from .wags and Virginia, she doesn’t have a business profile but walks my girls so I’m happy to vouch for her just message for her contact number, are both willing to take on my clients.

Over the past two years I have cared for and loved hundreds of pets and am so thankful I have been able to call this my job. Thank you everyone for all of your love and support and for trusting me with your beautiful fur babies 🫶🫶

Guess who is officially a full time dogwalker/petsitter! 🥳🥳

Yesterday was my last day in hospitality (hopefully ever) and dog walking is now my sole source of income. It’s terrifying to be taking this big step but I’ll finally get some more free time to hang out with my girls!

Oliver is a nearly one year old male Guinea pig who is looking for a new home after his companions have both unfortunately passed away. He is free to a good home where he will have other male guinea pig friends! He is friendly enough to eat from your hands although is not comfortable with being picked up/cuddled so would not be great for young kids. Please message me if you or someone you know can offer him a loving home.

As someone with a lot of pets (15 😬) going on holiday and leaving them behind is no easy feat! So here are my top tips for prepping for a petsitter
1. Prep meals where applicable, especially when there’s lots of pets in the house
2. Feed animals that don’t get fed daily in advance eg. fish, reptiles
3. Write notes and instructions, it also pays to leave an emergency contact and your regular vets phone numbers
4. Try and stick to the same sitter every time, this way they learn your routines and the pet has someone they know and love coming to see them!

As a pet owner myself I’ve felt the struggle of trying to get your pet to an appointment when you’re at work, frantically calling friends and family to see who can take them!

My new pet taxi service aims to reduce some of the stress when making appointments for your pet, ensuring they can get there even if you’re at work. Your pet will be securely transported to and from their appointment and any important information will be recorded and passed on to the owner asap.

*pet taxi is available Tuesday - Thursday only

While I took a break from dog walks over the past week, I didn’t get a break from pet sitting and have been caring for pets from 7 (!!) different families. It’s been a super busy time and is still a little chaotic over the next couple of days but I’ll be back to me normal routine next Monday! Dog walks will still be back from tomorrow morning.

No clients today so I thought I’d take a second to talk about who me and my girls have been working with for the past few months over on on Instagram.

The dogs were going a little crazy in this field that had just been mowed (sorry to the owners who came home to grassy dogs 🤣) but they had so much fun and mostly rinsed themselves off with a dip in the pond.

I missed yesterdays post because I ended up having a nap after our walk (shift work life 😴) but yesterday afternoon I took Tara, Sailor and Taylor out for a walk! The girls are best friends and wee Taylor just plods along behind them 😂
