Although it is easy to see top riders as just them and their horse, it is so important to remember they have a big team supporting them!
We would like to introduce you to Phillipa Gillies.
Phillipa is not just the mother to two of our team riders, Sam & Emma, but she is their groom, coach, manager and naturally their biggest fan.
Phillipa has been involved with horses her whole life, from riding to breeding. 🐴
Horses then formed an important part in her life which gives her a wealth of knowledge towards what makes a horse perform and achieve its full potential.
At the Saddlery Barn we find it a great pleasure working with Phillipa and her two daughters, towards helping reach their goals in show jumping! 🏆

We want to congratulate our three team riders Emma Gillies Samantha Gillies and KT Equestrian who all did very well at Tavendale and Partners New Zealand Jumping & Show Hunter Championship 🏆
It was fun to see some family competition when Emma and Sam were the only two in the jump off!
They both ended up going home with some serious laundry to do, especially Sam, as seen in this photo! 🍾

Courtenay Carpentry is a show jump making business.
They can make customised jumps including, Cavaletties, Jump Sets, Trotting Poles and are located in Courtenay, Kirwee.
The jump set pictured is the Watermelon Set which can go to 1.20m max.

Saddlery Barn is built on rural life, with one of our goals being to support the rural community.
Over the years, we have recieved our stock in packages often filled with plastics and other
un-environmentally friendly packing.
When thinking about the packing we use for our boxes, we thought there has to be something better. Wool. 🐏🐑
When wool is in a scoured state, it’s ideal for keeping products we send out, safe and secure in the boxes.
The great part of wool is that it can be reused after the order has been received.
Wool is great for retaining moisture in pot plants or around the garden as it is fully biodegradable!🌷
Or you could even use it to fill a pillow for your pet to sleep on! 🛏

Did you know that socialization can be as important as exercise for your dog?
It helps them grow to be confident, calm adults which can then lead to them being easy to take to places such as horse shows!
DogPack is an app that allows you to see the nearest dog friendly and dog only parks near your location! 📍
You can also post photos with the location on your feed which then can let your friends know if you and your dog are near them!
Another great feature, is the option to log if you're on the way to a certain park or are at the park, which then will give a rough count of how many dogs may be at the park or arriving shortly.

Did you know a horses stomach is roughly the size of a rugby ball and can hold 8-15 liters of food and water! 🏈
Because of how small their stomachs are, it means that they should only be having small meals, frequently!
If a horse eats too much in one go, it can sometimes result in the horse not getting the full nutrience from the feed. But in more serious cases, it can cause them to get sick and even colic!
A safe bet is to give your horse no more than 0.5% of their body weight in hard feed per meal (this excludes their grazing on grass and hay). 🐴
