I had four boys returned to me today-Gremlin, Tibben, Bennetto, and Angus. All but Gremlin are littermates to my boys, and two of my girls.
Started intro’s to my dudes, and here are some pics.

Cages and rat room clean! Such a satisfying feeling. And I have the play table back, after it has had a cage on it for a few weeks. Feeling so good.

****HOMED****
I am considering adopting Radar and Ardelia out. Radar is black vari, 9mths old. She has had one litter. Ardelia is a black hood woth a wee headspot, aged 6mths. PET ONLY.
Neither is suitable to breed from, going forward. Both very busy, curious girls. They MUST go as a pair. Reduced adoption fee. Please let me know if you might be interested, and we can go through my adoption process.

Weird and exciting day today. Did the rat room clean, and some intros. I am now down to one DFK. Boys in the top, girls and Kojack in the dropped, deep base bottom. It’s amazing and kinda sad.

I have (finally) made a decision. I will be taking a break from breeding, I’m not certain how long this will be. I have had rats over 14yrs. A decade with NZRR, and breeding for 6yrs. I will be keeping my current rats-I can’t bear to let them go. It SHOULD work out, as my youngest 2 are only 3mths apart. I love the support I have gotten, and the people that have adopted from me. I will be leaving this page as is, in case anyone-adopter or not-needs advice or help. My messages are always open, though replies may take a few hours.

***Edit- I’m still undecided on what I am actually going to do. I made this post in an highly emotional state. Now with time passing, the thought of rehoming anyone is heartbreaking, and I can’t imagine not breeding ever again. ARGH it’s bloody hard. F**k knows what I’m going to do, tbh. ***

After a night of tossing & turning, going back and forth-I will be rehoming a number of my rats. NONE are suitable for breeding purposes. The groups I will post are the groups they must be homed in. I will be asking (reduced) adoption fees. This will not be a fast process, nor will I rehome just to get them out. All are staying unless the right homes are found. I will be doing health checks over the next few days, and will post when I’m able.

‼️RATTERY SHUTDOWN‼️
Hi everyone. It’s been a difficult few days here at Kemodo Rattery. It started with Sheemie passing unexpectedly, and has steadily gotten worse. On the 12th, two of Radar’s babies died in a very traumatic freak way. I am happy to give details, but won’t here, as it is very upsetting. Yesterday, all but one of Radar’s litter died. No apparent cause-all fine and good, then bam. Two different cages. I also lost a girl I had recently taken in.
This has broken me. At this point, I will NO LONGER be breeding. I may return to it in the future. For now, I need to look after my mental health, and remaining rats. Thanks for the support over the last 6yrs, and I will remain available for ghose that have adopted from me previously-this page will stay up.

I forgot to mention-the babies moved in with the adults. All accepted beautifully!
In tragic news, Sheemie, their father, passed unexpectedly yesterday. He was my favourite boy. ♥️

Three weeks old! Radar prefers they do NOT leave the igloo. She won’t be able to enforce this much longer. Babies are trying foods, and are so sweet. And speedy!

Some progress pics of the washing dump zone. I really loathe folding. No play table as yet. It’s clear, clean, and rat stuff is on it, but the cover sheet is in the wash. I’ll do a play table post later, or tomorrow.

Tomorrow, I’m setting up the play table. I do not WANT to, as this means I’ll need to fold the 474748 loads of washing I’ve dumped in the spare room over the last few weeks. I HATE FOLDING. But needs must. And they deserve it.

Two weeks, one day old. All eyes are open. It’s virtually impoosible to take group pics, now. Someone is always doing a runner. Radar will get a hammock today, so she can have a break from them when needed.
