Murphy is a beautiful 8mnth old bulldog mix who’s in a bit of a ‘sh*tty situation’. He has a condition that’s common in bulldogs called screw tail. His tail is short & twisted without full movement or control. This means he can’t lift it when he does his business, resulting in a very messy situation for everyone! Thankfully we can fix this for Murphy, but it’s a bit more complicated than a normal amputation due to how high up it needs to go. Of course, this means $$ we don’t currently have so we once again need your help!!
If everyone who ‘likes’ our page donated 10c we’d have enough but of course the powers that be don’t let our posts be seen by all of our following. 🤯 It’s so frustrating!

Lilly is an outgoing girl who would love to join an active household. She's thriving in foster care and is making great progress with toilet training and walking on a lead with ease . Lilly would be a great running buddy or playmate for other dogs and children. She has been living with cats but requires supervision because gosh they’re fun to chase!

Miss September - Taco 🌮

This years calendar had a slightly different theme, with the majority of the dogs greeting you each month already being rehomed. Each month we will let you know a bit about each dog 🐾

After being adopted as a young dog, Taco came back into our care due to no fault of her own. We could see that she was very sore on her back & after a vet visit for some xrays, we found arthritis in her back. As this was left un-diagnosed, she was put in situations with people & other dogs that made her uncomfortable & she became defensive – understandably!

Due to the little quirks she now had, it meant that a special home was needed, with someone that understood what she had been through & would follow through with the training & pain management we had in place. While she was with us, she became our go to dog for photoshoots as she would do anything for food! She also became our training dog for assessments on the new dogs that came into care, which means she now has many dog & people besties!

It took just over year for the perfect owner to find her & to say she has landed on her feet is an understatement. If you are ever going through the Lyttleton Tunnel have a quick look to see if you can spot her on the balcony keeping an eye on the traffic. She has an important role as part of the team, so has been given her own Tunnel Control Hi-vis vest 👷

Her dad often pops into the shelter when he is going past. We always get a wiggly butt & tippy tappy dance - seeing her so happy & truly loved makes it all worth while ❤

I know this can go either way with dog owners so would love to know where you stand! On, but not in? Under the covers with you? It’s my dogs bed, I just share it!? Eeeeww yuck no dogs in the bed. What’s the rule in your house?
All my dogs have been crate trained, & then once older given the option to choose where they sleep. Papa has his spot behind my legs under the covers although he only comes in when he’s cold & I have to get out of bed to help lift the creaky old boy up when he scratches at the side of my bed to let me know his highness is chilly. Peanut sleeps in the lounge on the dogs beds & Bo**er picks between my 2 youngest boys beds. Pictured how we found him this morning with my youngest …. swoon! 😍

Honey - sweet by name, sweet by nature! You really couldn’t get a happier, more fun loving girl!!

Honey is around 4 years old & by the looks of her poor body has been bred from nearly every season shes had. She was lucky enough to head off to foster care right after her spay surgery to recover & they said she is an absolute dream in the home. As she is in a foster home as the only pet, we sorted a little adventure for her last week with Oskar, one of our trainers dogs.

She is in foster care in Rolleston, so we did a nice stroll through the streets to the local gelato shop, where we all got a nice treat. We sat in the sun at the local park to enjoy our gelato before we headed over to Petstock for a real good sniffari, then made our way back to the fosters home for a play date – Im not sure who was more exhausted after all that!

Honey would make a wonderful addition to any family, she is great with people, kids & dogs. The only thing she isn’t great with is cats!
