This weekend we thought we’d spend some time together doing this beautiful jigsaw puzzle by .banana and it’s so very lovely to slow down and work on this gorgeous art piece. I’ve never thought about the quality of a puzzle before but this has taken it to a new level 🩵💙🩷and I may well not be able to go back 😆 you have a new fan. And Cris I might need to get this as a print for my wall. Happy Easter from however you spend your holiday weekend.

Instantly flung back to our poo and flower farm after the big smoke of Auckland 🙈🤣

Flowers needed tending to and my garden loved a water 🌴

My mum and dad looked after my epic garden AND darling Frankie 🌸
(my parents are so amazing)

It was hot when we got home so there was no need for pants 🕺🏻
Kitty was supremely happy to see us 🌿
* she’s my silent wee shadow in my garden, she follows me round the farm everywhere 🧡

Now it’s back to farm life while dreaming of our wonderful wee trip away ✨

ps - kitty wears a cat scrunchie, it stops her killing native birds! Legit - she’s not bought a bird home in months!

Would you consider collaring your kitty to protect our endangered birds? 🐾🎋

And would you also consider taking that one step further and combine your quick release collar with a cat scrunchie? 🤩

No matter how cute you think your little smookins is, they kill birds, and even if you say they don't - they will, sometimes kill native birds, or worse, endangered native birds 😞

I was mortified when our kitty came home a few weeks ago with a native bird, and she was wearing her collar with 3 bells! I thought I was doing enough 🫣☹️

I had heard about cat scrunchies so I looked them up and got one for her to try them out. And I gotta say, it makes her look like a right clown we laughed hard for a good hour when she first had it on - SO GOOD! 🤣

She could not care less about her quick release collar and she does not care less about wearing a scrunchie either! She doesn't even notice it one bit.

Why this clown like collar?

Because birds see in colours - more than our human eyes can pick up, birds have a fourth cone in their eyes that enables them to see ultraviolet (UV) light. This allows birds to see a broader spectrum of colors than humans.

So if your cat looks like a clown with a big colourful & reflective scrunchie - the birds have a far better chance of spotting your silent killer and that makes me so very happy indeed!

The scrunchie just slips on right over your cats collar, easy as.
* use a quick release collar for your cats safety 🧡

In addition to our cat wearing a collar with bells & a scrunchie, we also lock her in every night at dusk till dawn, she couldn't care less about this routine and we enforce it with her daily feed, their cat like nature does not allow for emotion - cats are awesome! 🐈‍⬛

Our beautiful bird life in New Zealand is under such serious threat and since we have lived in a rural part of the country, seeing the destruction close up from feral cats everywhere, rats, stoats and possum, it's heartbreaking 😔

I set up traps on our property to catch strays and we have planted many natives since moving onto our farm, but it's a long hard road for our birds - every responsible step we take as cat owners is a fantastic one 😀

Let's do our bit - for the birds 🐦🦇🦉🐧

ps - I often do posts on cats and native birds and they are often met with some angry response.
A lot of people feel strongly that cats should not need to wear collars, a lot of people feel strongly that cats should be free to roam day and night, a lot of people feel strongly that cats should be kept in a cat enclousre while outside.

I am not here to tell you what to do with your cat, or to make you feel bad!

BUT I can bring you some awesome information about cats and birds and how to protect them - and knowledge is power!
