At long last we have managed to get some resonable photos of the three horses we currently have in work. Getting a good weather day, rider, and a photographer all to coincide has taken quite alot of effort. I hope you will enjoy viewing them. First four photos are of Waps Graduate a 9year old gelding approx 16hands. We have recently discovered he has an apptitude for jumping. He is fine to ride alone or in company, floats, shoes, and is a pleasure alround. Would excel in any discipline Grad is fully registered with aphanz.

Second lot of photos are of Whaps Jewel a 5year old mare approx 16.2 hands. A delightlful mare showing alot of potential for any discipline. Jewel is still green at this stage, but is happy to accept what we askof her. Jewel is also registered with Aphanz.

Third lot of photos are of Whaps Galaxie a 9year old mare approx 15.2 hands. A lovely alrounder (family horse) has been to PC. Loves to go for farm hacks, but is inclined to be a little lazy at times. Galaxie is fully registered with Aphanz

Please call Carole Davis on 027 292 8027 if you would like further information on the above.

With all the wet weather I have spent some time in trying to master the art of moving photos around with the help of my daughter, causing much frustration. Here is the result. Photos of Graduate Grad for short. a nice young gelding who will soon be looking for a new place to live.

Well this is the continuation of the story of the birth of Assetts foal Sorry but it seems that the new rules put on by Facebook make it much harder to write news letters. Wvwntually with much effort a large chestnut filly was wriggling on the floor. She was huge and very fat.. with a neat white blanket. It was touch and go for the survival of both mare and foal for several days. The foal was short of colostrum and had a bag of plasma and Assett had large doses of anti biotics and anti inflamatorys but with much care they are both out in a grassy paddock. with the foal making successful atempts to copy her mother and graze. have never seen that in a 3 day old foal before. I really hope that the other two foals due in a couple of months make a more normal entry into this world.
Unfortunatly both the part time workers I have been lucky enough to have for some time will be leaving by Christmas both for totaly different reasons. I will be sad to see them go but thats what happens. So I will have two vacancies I try to organise hours to suit. The work is not just horses we have a few cows and sheep, Applicants must be able to ride and be confident in handling young horses. Anyone interested in finding out more details please apply with your contct details and CV to [email protected]

At long last the long awated foal By Sundays Xtra out of Noble Assett arrived under extremely dramatic circumstances. Assett showd normal signs of labour at around 6pm 19th SeptThis continued untill around 11pm with little apparent progress. My gut feeling told me that this was not OK. So I rang the after hour service of my usual vet clinic. Vet on duty said I had better come and have a look! might be a positioning problem. With mare sedated first exam produced the info that yes cervix was open so in labour BUT no foal could be felt in the birth canal. in fact was almost out of reach but seemed to be alive. Another vet was sent for as more manpower needed. It took over 2 hours of really hard work for both vets working together to re position foals legs and head so that this very over sized foal could be born. I didnt know who to feel more sorry for. The foal being pulled and pushed this way and that the mare inspite of drugs obviously very uncomfortable the vets working really very hard or me. Well I wont go into that!!!
