They love your animals as much as their own and you are lucky they are not taken home with them every night! Our staff have been with us Ripponvale Pet Retreat a number of years and have a vast amount of experience dealing with animal behaviour and love being involved with your animals. This ensures that at all times your loved pet is looked after,pampered and totally fussed over that they will not even miss being away from home! Trust us they are in safe hands!

Beautiful Rika came to us for boarding and due to unforeseen circumstances, sadly now requires a new home.

Rika is a 9-year-old Vallhund and is a delight to have. She was quiet and a little subdued when first here, but she is a ball of energy and a confident little girl now.

She has had an elderly owner who adopted her mid-way through her life, so it is unclear on how she is with children and cats, but she is fantastic with other dogs and adults.

We have found her to be just a delight to have around and would love her to find a forever home as she has plenty of love and affection to give.

Rika will be here at Ripponvale Pet Retreat until she finds a suitable home, so we are not rushing the process to rehome her.

Dear Pet Parents,

We are in the process of changing our PM Open Times from 4.30-6.00 to 4.00-5.30.

This will be for boarding animals only, Doggy Daycare hours will not change.

This transition will be introduced throughout the month of May and all future bookings will be notified of the change.

The change in open hours will provide a more gradual transition for dogs when they first arrive at the kennel, they can spend time acclimating to the environment, interacting with staff and other dogs, and gradually settling into their new surroundings.

By adjusting open hours to prioritize play and settling in for dogs, boarding kennels can create a more enriching and stress-free environment, ultimately enhancing the experience for both the dogs and their owners.

Part of owing this business is the ability to help our clients with their pets. Help comprises many things and part of it is supporting them in rehoming a pet if they have tried every other avenue.
I have taken in 2 re-homed animals and know the heartbreak the owners went through making this decision and it was one based on love and the future wellbeing for their pet.

Murphy has stayed at with us at the Pet Retreat many times with no issues.

We’ve recently had a baby and despite all of our efforts, Murphy is just not adjusting. He growls at her when they’re close together and she’s so fascinated by him and trying to follow him crawling and we are worried he might react badly. We don’t know this, but aren’t willing to find out. He really would suit a home where he is number 1 or would be fine with another dog if that dog is gentle and good with other dogs. Home without kids/grandkids is vital. We are absolutely devastated and heartbroken to be rehoming our boy, we just can’t give him the life and happiness he deserves anymore. he’s a beautiful soul and a really great and loving pet.

Murphy is a lovely dog, and extremely affectionate and cuddly towards his people. He has some anxiety, and this is presented in barking at people a lot when they come over, but with some management and gentle interaction he does calm down. Really nervous and particularly around young children and would suit home where there are no children/grandchildren (teenagers would be fine).

Very good boy on walks, with great recall, just not good road awareness so always is on leash near roads. Very good with other dogs, and actually timid of dogs bigger than him so will often just walk in other direction.
