Before buying/leasing a horse, what to consider?
Are you able to attend to your horse at least once a day potentially twice during certain months?
Are you able to afford feed on a regular basis for your horse if it is needed?
Are you able to afford healthcare to your horse if needed?
Are you able to provide regular maintenance to your horses hooves?
Are you able to manage your horse and put in the time and effort with ground manners and Riding if ridden?
Do you have the support of others if you cannot attend to your horse?
There are many more questions to be added to this list in order to keep a horse or pony, above are just the basics. A horse is one of the hardest animals to keep, they are large animals that need attentive care.
The cost of owning a horse is around a basic of $150 a week. And that’s a good doer.
If there is anything on this list that you cannot commit to, then owning a horse is not for you.
