They were hand selected for their excellent health, exceptional pedigrees, wonderful temperaments, loving personalities, and beautiful colours. There are none quite like them in all of New Zealand and Australia... unless you count their offspring! Many of my dogs train with Lend a Paw Labs in order to share their skills and capabilities with the Community. They train to volunteer as Assistance dog

s, Therapy dogs, Literacy dogs, Scent dogs and more. Whereas we were previously located in Hawkes Bay, we now call the Manawatu home. With vistas to the Ruahine ranges in our backyard, ponds, streams, and acres to explore, the dogs and I feel we have found dog paradise. Purchasing a Skylit Labrador pup is very special. I look for families that will open their arms and their hearts to these pups as I have done.

A Tail of Two Brothers... both needing homes in two different countries. 🥺

Meet Gryff & Arlo... two brothers (littermates) separated by an ocean and BOTH needing new homes.

Both boys were from my Egg litter (Kindi & Timber), born in April 2022. Gryff recently found his way to western Australia with his family and Arlo has been in Wellington with his family since leaving Skylit. Both are now needing new FOREVER families.

Their story is much the same... lovely, neutered, Dogs NZ registered boys who just need families who can give them more of their time. Both boys are well trained with no issues (no separation anxiety, no aggression, house/crate trained and basic obedience trained) but being fox reds (and coming from my albeit loving but working lines), require experienced families who are looking for a more active labrador to fit into their lifestyle.

Arlo has grown up around a young child and has been very good in this environment. Gryff has grown up with other dog and cat family members and has also done very well in this environment. Both boys are playful and loving with great health.

Anyone that follows me knows I RARELY EVER have adult dogs come back to me but as a breeder committed to the puppies I bring into this world, I need to find these two boys new families that will give them the life they deserve.

Unfortunately the breeding of Kindi & Nash did not take place this week. Kindi had come into season early and then sped to "the top" (hormone wise) before all ducks could get in a row. I have a self-imposed protocol since the Covid days that I need to have 75% of a planned breeding reserved prior to that breeding taking place. Unfortunately that mark was not reached either so I made the decision to not gamble on the breeding at this time.

With our property being under construction for the next year(+), the dogs and I will be taking a bit of a break so that we can focus on our future.

I am tentatively planning my next litter(s) to go home in late 2025 but won't be announcing those planned breedings until the end of this year.

So if you are hoping for a Skylit puppy, this is a good time to start the application process so that you are good to go when my next planned breeding(s) are announced. I only have a limited number of puppies each year and receive far more applications than available puppies. Those that are pre-approved end up with more options available to them.

Kindi has actually come into season EARLY and breeding will be taking place shortly for a litter to be born in late September, going home late November/early December... just in time for GREAT summer weather!

Have you visited the Skylit Labradors (www.skylitlabs.co.nz) website? It is chock full of information regarding my Labradors, my approach to breeding, my past litters and so much more.

I am one of the only Labrador breeders in New Zealand that breeds some of the "different" colours and coat lengths. There is a whole section of my website about that too.

There's also another section of my website that has links to other information that may be of interest to those who question the different colours. It has links to unbiased information on the genetics and history behind this sometimes contentious topic.

There are several breeders out there who are very vocal about their biased dislike of Skylit Labradors. My puppies and I are frequently the topic of discussion in several Facebook groups that I have been banned from joining -- purely so those that dislike Skylit Labs have a platform where no one can refute their statements.

I will say however that for every one of these anti-Skylit people out there, I can provide even more Veterinarians, dog trainers and families that have one of my puppies who highly recommend me and my Labrador puppies.

If I can answer any questions about my dogs or my practices please get in touch. While I may not have the ability to defend myself in these private social media groups, I am very easy to reach and happy to discuss.

Hey there peoples! My sister and I are still on the hunt for our forever families. We'll be ready to leave our family here at Skylit in just 2 short weeks. Before leaving, mum says we'll be fully vet checked AND vaccinated (I don't know exactly what that is but mum says I won't hardly feel a thing!?). I know a lot of peoples worry about puppies crying and all that but this sleeping through the night thing is AWESOME. And really, I much prefer the grass outside for my "business" so to speak. Hi Everyone. My brother said I needed to make a "dating" profile... so weird... but WHATEVA... here we go! So as much as I love this place "Skylit", I feel I would really love a family all my own... one that would play with me all day, give me endless cuddles, and then play with me some more! How sweet would THAT be?!? My mum describes me as "a social butterfly with a tail that never stops". But I'm not really a "girly girl" as I love rough-housing with my brothers just as much as I love swimming or playing fetch. Basically whatever is on, I'm keen! Before leaving here, mum says I'll be fully vet checked AND vaccinated. I heard a rumour from my sister Roku that this "vet" has treats and gives CUDDLES too so SIGN ME UP! I should add that I'm super smart (blush) and am NOT the type puppy to make a mess in my crate. (Ewww... gross!) No worries there. So I'm really hoping you may be my perfect match. Today was all about tasting real food for the first time. And they LOVED IT! Puppies at Skylit are started on a commercial freeze dried raw product that is balanced and appropriate for all life stages. The pups today had Woof! Duck recipe with a bit of their mum's Lamb Ziwipeak as well.

One of the Skylit labs difference: puppies go home nearly potty trained already! Here they are at not even 4wks of age already knowing to use a potty box. This easily transfers over to knowing they need to go outside for toileting. At 6wks I start working on them "holding it" (staying dry/clean through the night)

Besides lounging by the fire, stealing oranges out of our orchard and relentlessly keeping watch of the sheep, all of our dogs train with Lend a Paw Labs in order to share their skills and capabilities with the Community. They train to volunteer as either Service dogs, Therapy dogs, Search and Rescue dogs, Literacy dogs, or Scent dogs. Purchasing a Skylit Labrador pup is very special. We look for families that will open their arms and their hearts to these pups as we have done.
