Hi House of Kurī team!

I have had a bit of a family emergency, so I will be needing to take some time off for possibly a week. This will probably start next week, but I will find out more information today.

Those of you who have appointments next week, I will be in touch to reschedule. Some of you will still be able to have grooms by my amazing coworkers and some I'll have to reschedule completely.

I'm so sorry for any inconveniences, but family comes first.

FYI! I have used Clutha Vets and highly recommend them. My own dog was spayed by the Balclutha team when we lived down there, and they were super helpful with my old boy in his final years and final minutes 🥰.

It is dog desexing month 🐾🐾

We currently have 20% off desexing at our Balclutha and Milton clinics. Give us a call to book in as the diary is filling up quickly.

Good Morning House of Kurī team!

I am back at work! Thank you for all of the well wishes and get betters and thanks to my amazing clients who were understanding! I didn't choose the COVID life, the COVID life chose me 😅.

Life resumes as normal and I am still taking bookings for August onwards.

You don’t need to swap out the tag, reuse your longlife tag from last year!

If your longlife tag is showing ‘best before’ signs we will replace this for free!

Good morning House of Kurī team!

Just a quick wee COVID update.

I'm still testing positive and am still feeling like absolute 💩. It's hit me harder than the last time I had it and it's starting to have an effect on my asthma.

I will try and work through the bookings and messages, with those of you I have had to postpone taking priority.

Thank you to my wonderful clients who have been super understanding, I totally appreciate you!

Unfortunately this morning I tested positive for Covid. It came on hard and fast and has hit me a lot harder than the first time!

This means I'm probably going to be laid up at home for a couple of days, but I will be in contact with those of you who have grooms booked and I will look at rescheduling them for you.

A friendly reminder, that unless you have received a pick up text, please don't pop in! It can be quite distracting for your doggo, and sometimes they never calm back down. Even if you sneak in, they can smell you and absolutely know you're there. We have a sign on the gate, reception door, and in reception explaining this 😊.

If you're a regular of mine you may have noticed my hair colour is different every time you visit 😂. I give my talented stylist Tania from Salon on Princes, full creative control and she always does such an amazing job! So she gave me full creative control over her wee man Boston! I turned him into a wee punk rocker with some greens and blues, the start of what I hope becomes a glorious mohawk, a wee goatee and a fabulous tail! 🤘

I've been grooming this Mother and Son duo while their regular groomer is on maternity leave. They do the whole grooming process together and trying to get a nice photo of them both is an adventure 😂. You may notice a few puppies have been on my table lately! Its quite important to get them in as early as you can to start the process of them getting used to a lifetime of grooming. The more regularly you can have them groomed, the more comfortable they become and create a better bond with their groomer. Grooming starts at home, so remember to introduce them to brushing and being handled so it's easier on them in the long run. I will give tips and tricks on any areas they need work on for you to do at home.

I do puppy grooms in 3 stages and here is handsome Ozzy in his recent 3 stages of his puppy grooms!

Stage 1: An intro groom. This is trimming of their feet, nails, face and bum. They get introduced to the salon environment, a good brush, and introduced to clippers and scissors and being handled. They get to meet the other groomers in the building and, of course, lots of cuddles and treats! There is generally no charge for this.

Stage 2: The bath! They get their first bath and blow dry about a week or so after their intro groom. The dryers can be quite scary, so taking it low and slow is important to get them used to the sounds and feeling of the warm air blowing on them. Another brush out and once again, more cuddles and treats! There is a small bathing fee for this groom.

Stage 3: Their first big dog groom! This is where they get the full pamper! About a week or 2 after their bath, they will now be introduced to a Full Groom. They get a bath , blow dry, brush out and full body clip. Nails are also done again if they are needed. And as always, they get more cuddles and more treats! This is where we can start to set the style of groom you would like them to have, and from here on in, we can play around with different styles and find what you like the most. If you want a fluffy style, its so important to brush regularly at home to be able to achieve this. This groom will be at Full Groom pricing.

Wee puppy (or should I say BIG puppy!) Bonnie returned for her first bath and blow dry! Big feelings for her first bath and blow dry but we got through them with lots of cuddles and praise. She'll be back in a few weeks for her first big girl groom!
