On This Day in History: ~August 12, 1908, The first production Model T was produced.

Motorized transport to replace horse-drawn delivery wagon.

The Model T Ford, Delivery Car sold in 1912 for $700. It was Fully Equipped with Automobile Brass Windshield, Speedometer, Three Oil Lamps, Tire Gas Lamps, Generator, Horn, Tools. It rode on a 100-inch wheelbase, which was powered by 20-hp 4-cylinder engine with 2-speed planetary transmission and had transverse semi-elliptic leaf springs. It could tote two people and a payload of 750 pounds (340 kg). Ford advertised it as “The car that delivers the goods,” and you could get it painted red with blue fenders or in primer with black fenders, ready for your own colour scheme.

Mr. Fred W. Muth is a son of the late Chas. F. Muth. His firm has built up a large business in bee-supplies and honey. We think we are safe in saying that "Fred" has traveled more thousands of miles in the interest of honey sales than any other living man. His firm occupies three large floors at 51 Walnut St. We wouldn't dare estimate the number of carloads of honey he had stock, in both 5-gallon cans and in barrels, bit it looked as if there was enough to sweeten half of the country. Image from the romantic epic Orlando Furioso by the Italian poet Ludovico Ariosto (1474-1533): With the spell pro bono malum (Evil for Good). Ariosto has mastered this spell. The correct meaning has been a matter of debate among various writers for centuries. Like Alberto Casadei “Il PRO BONO MALUM Ariostesco e la Bibbia” and Leigh Hunt “Stories from the Italian Poets” After Ariosto's death, his patron had a medal made with the poet's breastpiece on one side and a beehive being smoked out on the other, the bees flying out of the hive, with his motto PRO BONO MALUM.

Don't forget to ring your bees when they are swarming 😂😂

When your bees swarm, the first thing is to get the key and fire shovel, to ring them. Some of the country folks think, that if you don't ring your bees, you can't follow them, but, in my opinion, this is a mistaken notion;

-I believe, that if you keep in sight of them, or can otherwise prove them to be yours, you may follow them, and demand them, the same as strayed cattle; yet I must confess that I am fond of the ringing of bees, for I always fancy that the more noise you make, the more it deadens their sound, and thereby causes them to settle much sooner and better;-also, I think if there were a swarm just hived, before a second swarm rose, that by your ringing, it would, in a great measure, prevent them from going together; -but, however, if there is no real good in ringing your bees, it is well known there is no harm, therefore I would say, ring, and give your neighbours notice of your swarm, and follow them.

circa. 1709 ~ Emblem; Bees, an Emblem of Flattery

Adulation: Flattery
A Woman in an affected wanton Habit, playing upon a Flute; a Buck at her feet fast asleep, with a Bee-hive by her side. The Buck denotes Flattery, because he is so charmed with music, that he lets himself he taken. The Bees are a true Emblem of it, carrying Honey in their Mouth, and a secret Sting.

🐝 Emblems are pictorial illustrations with accompanying explanatory text, typically morals or poems. Books with Emblems were popular in Europe during the 16th and 17th centuries. For centuries, bees have been held in high esteem, being portrayed as a model for society. Bees, through complex and patient communication, work together to ensure that their colony thrives. Honey bees provide a model for precise, compassionate community that can be achieved only through attentiveness, communication and hard work, which make Bee Emblems a powerful illustration to exemplify to the reader, a model for society.
