This week we rescued 3 newborn stray kittens - but there was a twist! They were found along side a 4 week old kitten. While their past is a mystery, one thing is certain: they will never be unloved strays again.
We are committed to finding each of them a safe and loving forever home. 🏠❤️
We are also committed to trapping the mama cat so that she doesn’t have to live a cruel life as a stray.
Pictured here is the 4-week old kitten enjoying some food!
Please note we are not yet taking expressions of interest for this kitten but please keep an eye on our website as they will be listed when ready. http://catrescuedunedin.org.nz
Meet Harry
Meet Harry, “a beautiful wee lad who deserves the best home” - as described by his foster mum.
Harry Cat (approx 7 month old) is looking for his new home. Harry is used to dogs being around and other cats. He hasn't seen wee people and he doesn't like loud noises. 🙉
🥰 Harry is the best cuddler and has an awesome purr. He's come a long way from not trusting people to being a wee love bug. He loves temptations and his toys.
For an adoption fee of $250, Harry comes desexed, microchipped and vaccinated.

This clinic is for our community in more ways than one.
Having our own clinic means we'll be able to desex and microchip even more cats and kittens, saving costs that go directly back into our rescue efforts. But it’s not just for our rescues - we’ll also be offering low-cost desexing, spaying, and microchipping for your beloved pet cats and kittens. We’ll even offer our services to small dogs sometime in the future.
Unspayed female cats can have multiple litters throughout their lives, which significantly shortens their lifespan and increases the risk of cats and kittens being abandoned, dumped, and left to die. We also know that times are tough and the cost of spaying and neutering a cat is not affordable for many pet owners.
We know that the Cat Rescue Dunedin Desexing Clinic is an essential resource in the mission to rescue vulnerable cats and kittens. We even have local vets onboard for
Something BIG is happening at Cat Rescue Dunedin... stay tuned 😻

Edwin and Esmeralda
Meet our naughty cats of the week 😈
Edwin and his sister Esmerelda garnered the nickname the evil gremlins due to the fact that they hid from their foster mum for months. But now these two best mates have not only decided they love to cuddle at night (without pats), but Edwin has decided he is the boss cat and chases poor Bronson away from the best napping spots.
Edwin has also recently discovered his love for catnip and does not want to share! He does love sharing food though...as long as it's someone else's food that he can snag!
If you can offer a home with plenty of catnip, treats and playtime for this cheekily naughty duo apply at https://adopt.adopets.com/pet/c7eeeb39-b75f-4cea-9ecd-37ae96900f5a?tracking=79b4fcb5-c28e-409d-a4b0-f8dd9fa1127c
Bronson is ready for adoption!
Meet our good cat of the week 😻Bronson!
Every once in a while we have a cat who escapes. Meet Bronson. Bronson escaped from one of our fosters in July 2022. But thankfully, this friendly and resourceful boy made friends with some new folks who took him in and got his microchip scanned and he's been returned to his foster 2 weeks ago!
Bronson used to like cuddles just around dinnertime - but now wants heaps of attention and love! We think the real reason why Bronson escaped is because he is ready to find his forever home. Can you open your heart and home to Bronson? 🏡❤️

Thea is ready to find her forever home. 🏡 ❤️
Thea is a sweet but shy teen who is starting to enjoy ear scratches and pats from people. She also loves to watch other cats play and may do well with a feline companion. Thea will need a quiet, patient home, but we are sure that with some time and attention, Thea will make an amazing family pet.
For an adoption fee of $50 Thea comes neutered, microchipped and vaccinations up to date.

Our lovely foster Oshka has quite a story to tell.
Our lovely foster Oshka has quite a story to tell.
Late one night on our way home, we saw 3 kittens on the side of the road. We went back and set some traps hoping to catch the kittens and with some luck a Mum too. To our surprise they just kept coming. We ended up with five 6 month old kittens and their Mum. More surprising she was still nursing them! All kittens were in good condition.
This little Tabby had somehow managed to successfully raise 5 kittens on a rural industrial site on the side of a 100km road. All kittens have gone on to be adopted into wonderful homes. It soon became apparent Oshka wasn't just sporting a wormy belly but she was well into a second pregnancy. She soon had 5 gorgeous little babies. She patiently raised her litter to weaning and one by one they found their forever homes.
We thought it was fitting to name her Matryoshka, after the Russian nesting dolls, meaning little Mother. 🪆
We were surprised to hear her vet estimated her to be approximately a year old!
Oshka is now ready to find a home of her own. Oshka had clearly been someone's pet at some stage. Sadly, she will at times still shy away from a hand raised to her head. We can only imagine the hardship she has faced in her short life.
Amazingly, she has really blossomed since her kittens left. She is very affectionate and has even started playing! Oshka is looking for a home that will treat her like the queen she is. With time to adjust we think she will adapt to a wide range of homes.
For an adoption fee of $150 she comes neutered, microchipped and vaccainted up to date.
If you think you could offer the perfect home, please click the link to meet Oshka: https://adopt.adopets.com/pet/86bd0bcf-ee67-4608-b2cd-7cf03fcb7975?tracking=4f2b55d8-596b-4297-9ba9-1a48b84e3ebc
