Kia ora Everyone,

We invite you all to join us for the 2nd annual Te Manawa Kaupoi Matariki Horse Trek.

WHEN: Saturday 15th July 2023
WHERE: Awatere Marae, State Highway 35, Te Araroa East Cape

This will be a day trek only, departing from Awatere Marae at 9.30am, riding over to the township of Te Araroa East Cape via state highway 35, where lunch will be provided for all registered riders.

We’ll then return to Awatere Marae, via the Awatere Riverbed and safely untack, load up and part ways home.

As usual everyones safety is paramount, so we advise to wear a riding helmet, wet weather gear (incase of rain) no dogs and no stallions. Red ribbon will be available for those to tie on their horses that may kick.

Kia ora everyone,

Unfortunately due the Cyclone, we’ve made the best and wise decision to postpone our fundraiser trek, with new date to be confirmed.

Alot of our families and roading are still in a massive state of repair, with some areas inaccessible to travel through, and with that we’ll hold out and look to provide new dates as soon as the universe allows us to.

We apologise for any inconvenience and we’ll be in contact with those whom have paid their registration fees for a refund.

We hope and wish you, all your family and horses are well.

HEALTH & SAFETY:
As this is a family friendly and safety awareness is a key part of what we'd like promoted during our Trek, we strongly advise the wearing of helmets.

COVID Testing:
Mindfulness of our small coastal community of Te Araroa, Covid Tests will required and provided on arrival.

NO STALLIONS & NO DOGS
Any Horse/s that kicks in company of other Horses are required to wear a Red ribbon on tail
(Red ribbon provided by Te Manawa Kaupoi at Trek)

The event was a testament to the diverse talent from all of our small East Coast communities, where both seasoned riders and newcomers demonstrated their skills. Ngati Porou Pa Wars created an electrifying atmosphere, celebrating the rich cultural and sporting heritage of Ngati Porou.
