I think everyone is way overdue an update on how things are going over here! So here we go..

I am just over 5wks post op and finally starting to get back to some resemblance of normality.
It’s been a bumpy ride with a few complications along the way, but I’m now on the perfect concoction of meds to help support my system while it adapts to the changes my brain surgery caused and hopefully it’s onwards and upwards from here.

Physical activities are still very minimal, so there’s no farming, horsing or doing any heavy lifting or strenuous jobs at home. But I have amazing help around me!

The horses are all fat and happy and luckily this time of year means I can afford to be reasonably hands off. Poor Beau had a hoof abscess pop up which was swiftly dealt with and he’s back to 100% now. I’ve had amazing friends deliver and stack hay in the shed for my winter stocks. Little Bree is growing like a w**d, happy in her little family unit and will be ready for her new home in a few months time.
We also have a gorgeous litter of golden lab puppies who are fab time wasters at the moment 🐶

I’m limited on piccys of my four legged friends but will attach the few I do have… including a ‘scar timeline’ so look away if you’re squeamish! The healing is incredible and it blows me away what our bodies can do!

Hopefully the next update will have at least a few more stories for you all 😅

A little update for all that have messaged, commented and sent well wishes from afar.

One of the toughest and scariest weeks of my life. But it’s over and done with and I’m getting stronger each day.

It might be a little while till I’m home and certainly a long road till I’m able to resume my usual duties, but luckily I have an awesome support crew back at the ranch so everything and everyone is doing just fine 👌

Our beautiful Bree (CE Somer Breeze) is spoken for and I couldn’t ask for a better home for her to go to at weaning time. She is maturing beautifully. Gentle, thoughtful and smart with a very loving nature. Very proud of this girl 💛
She’s had some handling and a drench which she enjoyed every minute of. Now she’ll be turned out and left to grow while I have some bigger fish to fry 😬

We had a lovely Christmas! The rain held off and we got to enjoy sunshine, champagne and pony rides! Christmas Eve I delivered a very special package to very special friends in the shape of Bonsai, our littlest pony. Then Boxing Day the weather packed up and we’ve since had around 180ml of rain!
Lucky Beau is a good dad and shares his breakfast 😉

I have been a little bit absent on our pages recently. Quite a few of our horses have found new postcodes and I’ve been working hard to lighten the load so that come mid January I can take a bit of a break.
In June I was diagnosed with a rare brain condition and long story short, will be undergoing brain surgery in January. There will be a significant recovery period so bear with me!
Our beautiful little Bree (CE Somer Breeze) has just turned 8wks old and will be available on weaning in April/May. She will be a bit of a blank canvas as I will not be able to do anything with her after my surgery but she is currently handled daily and loves people. She is a happy, gentle, social foal and will grow into a stunning big hunter type. So get in touch if you think she’d look good in your paddock!
The rest of the crew are turned out and enjoying a good dose of holiday time!
We hope everyone has a fantastic Christmas 🎄🥂

I so look forward to our Luna updates! Here she is looking wonderful at a Russell Higgins clinic with her mum last week.
I miss her so much which I don’t think will ever fade, but what a fabulous life she has 💛 🦄

It’s a busy time of year for us on the farm but here’s a very quick update for you all!
We had the wonderful Robyn out yesterday to do some sheath cleans and some lovely contact care work. The horses love her!
Baby Bree is growing like a w**d, and looking more and more clydie every day!
Yearling Storm and her 2yr old partner in crime Pink, are living their best lives. Grass up to their knees and looking like butterballs, only caring about fun and food!
Beau is back with his wife Ember and very happy about it. He is lovely with his foal and very respectful and careful around both the girls 🥰
Fat boy Guy is living the life. Mostly concentrating on maintaining his dad bod, with the occasional dose of farm duties when needed 😉
The paddocks still feel rather empty since waving off a few very key members of the equine family, but we have wonderful updates of them being adored in their new homes 🥰

It’s very rare that I appear in photos as I’m always the one behind the lens! 📸 🫣
It was my birthday… Husband wanted to take me out for lunch, but I just wanted him to help hold young horses while I did some hoof trimming 😅
He got bonus points for his spontaneous photography 😉

To say I am thrilled would be an understatement!

This morning Ember had a stunning filly foal by our wonderful stallion Somerton Beau. Healthy, strong and thriving. And the best first time mum there ever was 🧡

I have had a few enquiries about whether Beau is standing to outside mares this season. The short answer is no 😂 but it is something I’ll consider for the future. He is a rising 5yr old and I’m so pleased with how he is maturing. He currently has a new girlfriend, one of two mares for this season. I’ve separated Ember as, for her first foaling, I’d like her to have her space. Here’s a couple of photos of him being a gentleman, even sharing his breakfast 😉

What a journey! 10 years, 6 foals and a whole lot of love. I owe so much to this mare. My paddocks feel empty without her. But what an amazing twist of fate for her to end up with her biggest fan, who has followed her journey for many years. We miss you Nui 💛
