Eastland Veterinary Services is pleased to announce that they have sold their business to Gisborne Country Vets. Alex & Tessa Meban of Gisborne Country Vets are excited to bring these two practices together, combining their passion for personalised care with a strong community focus.

From 31 January our clinic will operate as Gisborne Country Veterinary Services Ltd. John, Tina, and Fiona will all remain on the staff of the new business, and there will be a few new faces as our two staff teams are combined. It will be business as usual with no anticipated disruption to services.

We appreciate your loyal custom over the years, and would love to see you in clinic before the end of January for a catch up. We wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas and an even greater New Year 🎄🎄🎄

The EVS team had a fantastic time at the Gisborne Terrier Races last Sunday. This is such a great event that we love to support. It's always a laugh to see the chaos - dogs running in all directions and everyone having a fun day out !

Now that we're coming into hotter weather it's important to be aware of the risk of heatstroke for animals. If you find an animal you suspect is suffering from heatstroke it is important you get them to the clinic immediately, as the effects can be fatal.

Gisborne and Wairoa are unfortunately usually in the "high" category for sheep measles infection stats. It is important that we work towards making a positive change. Ensure all dogs are wormed on a monthly basis, including hunting dogs and any visiting dogs over the Christmas break.

Contact the clinic if you would like to join the Vetserve postal worming program. Worming pills will be mailed to you each month, taking the hassle out of remembering to dose your dogs.

Thursday 5th December at Kaiawa Beach Tolaga Bay.

No cost to farmers or growers, boards, wetsuits, coaching and BBQ supplied.

This is a great opportunity to get off the farm and give you and your staff the opportunity to refresh.

This little guy was found on Back Ormond Road out in the country last night. He may have been hit by a car but seems to be reasonably unscathed. He's only about 7 weeks old and has no microchip.

Meet Louise !

Louise has a Diploma in Veterinary Nursing and has been at Eastland Vets for 17 years.

Louise works part-time in the clinic, and has a team of her own farm dogs. She is passionate about working dogs, being especially dedicated to their care while in hospital and ensuring their rehabilitation and return to work.

Meet Emma !

Our amazing Head Vet Nurse Emma has a Diploma in Veterinary Nursing, and moved to Eastland Vets almost 6 years ago. She excels in her leadership role, and helps to keep the companion animal department running smoothly.

Emma is a multi-tasker and can carry out her nursing work at the same time as giving John or Garry a hard time, which always gives us a laugh. She organises all of our staff social functions, as well as in-clinic staff competitions and challenges.

Charlie is an honorary EVS staff member, as he pays the most attention at any meetings or staff training sessions he attends. Well done Charlie 😃

Isobel has a Diploma in Rural Veterinary technology. A Gizzy local, she started out as a production animal technician in Balclutha and returned to Gisborne two years ago to be a companion animal nurse at Eastland Vets.

Paige comes from a farm near Dannevirke and completed her Diploma in Veterinary Nursing last year. She loves working dogs and has started a home based boarding service for dogs recovering from orthopaedic surgeries. She is a true animal lover and says hello to every animal in the kennels each morning 🐕🐈

Eastland Vets Wairoa is on the move !

We are excited to announce our move to the old ITM store at 159 Carroll Street Wairoa. Our new premises will be a production animal retail store - small animal services will no longer be provided from our site in Wairoa. We will continue to provide a full range of companion animal and working dog services from our Gisborne clinic. All client and animal histories are already on our system in Gisborne.

We are in the process of moving this week and will be fully opened at the new premises on Monday 14th October. Our retail store will stock production animal healthcare products, as well as working dog and puppy foods, and flea and worming treatments for dogs and cats.
