What a weekend - thanks Brookby Horse Trial for putting on a fantastic event! Little Isla tried her hardest at her first competition - she did a great Dressage test that put her into 4th place, sadly she took a couple of rails which knocked her out of contention, but managed to pull off a fantastic X-Country finishing in 14th place in a field of 32. A great first start for her!
Harry was the star of the day for us, he was in 2nd place after Dressage, went up to 1st after the Show Jumping phase and then completed a faultless X-Country coming home on his Dressage score of 27.5.

After thinking long and hard Alex made the tough decision to retire her wonderful mare, Gina, at the end of last season. They have had the most fantastic time together and she reignited Alex’s passion for Eventing. With the help of Lee at Equibreed over the years we have been lucky enough to have had 4 wonderful foals via her embryo transfer programme, but this time Kara from Franklin Vets has helped us and we are thrilled to announce that the Matriach herself is in foal!!! Coming to Lochinvar Sport Horses late 2024 is ….,,,,,,,,,,????? ❤️❤️❤️❤️

What a weekend to ride when Cyclone Gabrielle was well on its way towards the top of the North Island.
Brookby Horse Trial was great. Amazingly presented ground and well organised in testing conditions. Gina had a awesome first day, I thought a great test and just one pesky rail….today was a test to say the least. Running in slightly damp but pretty windy conditions, Gina just had more go then whoa. When your reins feel like they are covered in a thick layer of butter and you feel like your onboard a bullet train with little responses to my seat, i seriously considered retiring. Instead I utilised a nice open paddock between fences to do a couple of circles, get back to walk and regain Gina’s brain a bit. Pretty frustrating but at the end of the day safety for you and your pony is paramount. Finished up in sixth place with a lot to work on before HOY. Home with the stables full and the hatches battened down ready for Gabrielle to hit 🌧 💨
