With over 100,000 acres of stunning, world famous Glenorchy back country to ride on exclusively, clients are lucky enough to experience crossing glacial fed waters, ride amongst the wildflowers and lupins, be awe inspired by the towering snow-capped mountain ranges that hug Glenorchy, and truly immerse themselves into middle earth on horseback. We cover the Dart Valley, Paradise Valley and Rees Valley, depending on the trek you choose, and offer rides from one hour through to five days. Whether you’re a beginner, intermediate or experienced rider, we have something that suits all. We are the only company in the country to offer this.

Side note - This has happened twice to us now. Zara Phillips popped in with no notice. She came down underover during a world rugby cup to spend some time with a certain English captain.
I at least managed to have her ride my eventer 🤣🤣🤣

Are you passionate about horses, mountains and nature? This may be your dream job!

HCH is looking for two enthusiastic, competent horse guides to start as soon as possible!

DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Preparing horses and equipment required prior to clients arrival (catching, grooming, feeding, tacking up etc.)
- Assisting clients with getting on, teaching them basic horsemanship and doing safety briefings
- Being responsible for taking a group of clients out independently or with another guide
- Assisting clients with their needs, educating them about our area and heritage, and making sure everyone is safe while out on the trails (risk management)
- Unsaddling, cleaning gear, horse health checks
- Assisting with odd jobs around the farm
- Working our green and young horses
- You may be asked to help with wrangling horses for photoshoots, films and other fun projects from time to time

ABOUT YOU:
- Minimum 5 years horse experience
- Previous customer service experience
- Strong work ethic, with a fun, positive, can do attitude
- Drivers license and reliable transportation required
- Ability to be adaptable and work in a fast environment

TEAM MEMBER TUESDAY 🥳

This week we head back to the beautiful Bay of Plenty to bring you Hayley!

Hayley comes to us after a stint across the ditch mustering and saddle making. Growing up farm riding before jumping into Western Performance Horses, definitely gives Hayley an epic background for us to appreciate!

When not on the back of a horse you can usually find Hayley enjoying the summer season and taking a nice dip in the glacial fed rivers.

Make sure you get in quick to be lucky enough to nab Hayley as your guide this summer before she jets back across the ditch to continue making some incredible saddles!

Sooooo snow - some love it, and some not quite so much❣️ Baylee our wonderful Yard Manager started 3 weeks ago, she has had rain, more rain and now snow!! She is a Fairlie girl so thank god she knows what snow is all about. Our herds of 40 or so are much the same as us. Some love it, some just want their hooves dry and summer to roll around. All rides are cancelled today for clients but watch this space I bet the staff can’t help themselves ❤️🤔❤️ We don’t see many snow days any more and horses are well equipped with 3 layers of hair in their winter coats. Some of the special breeds need a little extra insulation, so they get covered. Plenty of hay on top of the snow and horses forage well. All I can say is “Bring on Summer” only 16 days till day light savings 😃😃
