The saying is, you have to walk before you can run 🏃
Not true for huskies 🤣
If the dogs are feeling too excited and too pent up, a good old run is what they need before they can focus on the walk.
Sometimes, you have to let them get it all out and let them have fun.
I could have put these guys in a down stay for 15 minutes to calm them down, or, we could go for a little 15 minute blitz on the scooter. Both are important at the right times.
The result - a much more calmer walk 👍
Maccy Boi 🐾
Some dogs are harder than the others.
It is my job to work out what works best for each individual dog.
Mac is just an unconfident dude. Any sign of noise or trouble and he goes into flight mode.
He is also massive, and is not even a year old yet, and so when he goes, he is like a freight train.
Teaching him to walk loose leash without any additional tools has been my main goal these last few weeks.
And look at him go. We did this right next to a building suite (you can hear the noise).
Go Mac, super proud of your progress 🥰

Maisey is still looking for her furever home! Please share so that we can find her a family ❤️
Peaceful 🤍
Ferny, Keira, Oona and Charlie.
Look Mum, no hands! 😇 It is much easier to take a video when I can drop one of the leads. Thor is the best walker out of my three, he just plods along by my side 🤣 He was also very good with Addie, and she was very good with him. Addie is a very excitable dog and Thor is generally the fun police, but they were chill as 👌
We got absolutely drenched and then that was me done for the day ☔️ Still feel cold and wet 🤣 Sorry to all of the dogs that missed out today!
Update! Ellie's training is going well. We moved closer to Keira today and worked on our down stays. I haven't seen Ellie much lately due to my course with @gooddogtrainingnz so it's great to be back into it! 😁
Reactivity Training 👀 Personally, I think there are multiple ways to combat reactivity. It depends on the owner, the dog, the relationship, the scenario, etc. The list goes on. Ellie was very receptive to certain techniques to start with, but after her incident, nothing was working. Some people use prong collars, some people use E-collars, some people use food. Again, personally (and not bagging the technique at all) I do not like using food as a fix. As a reward for ignoring the dog to start with, absolutely. Timing is critical with using food, and it is very easy to get it wrong. Plus the dilemmas of if the dog in question isn't food motivated, or the day you forget treats. So for Ellie, I had to start with the basics. Long line work! As simple as that. Plus I am sending her right back, further than where I allow most of my dogs to walk. Combined with some focus work, she is already a different dog. Small steps are key, not rushing her, and allowing her the time and space to make better decisions. As I want her to see another dog, and consciously make the choice to ignore it. That's where I want to get her, to better than she was before. So yay for Ellie! I can't wait to see her progress.
RUN 🐾 Videos do not convey how fast she actually goes 🤣 Biking is such a great way to exercise your dog. Have a dog that loves to run? Get a bike! 🚴♀️ I barely have to pedal, Storm does all the work.
Cloud is tired 🤣 Bike rides with Loki and Storm 🐾🚴♀️🐾
Treadmill time with the Keeks. She was on there for nearly an hour! Kelsey and Kiki do not go bike riding when the council bins are out 🤣 #treadmilldog
Samson walking calmly next to Zoe 😍 Once upon a time he couldn't even see a tiny speck of another dog in the distance without losing his mind; tantruming, barking, lunging. Look at him now 😊 @jim.law @jaythelaw
Luckily you can still bike with a broken toe 👌 @hannahhbowden Storm and Toby getting some of that energy out! 🚲
