This young pup, Sammy, was gifted to the owner's nephew for Christmas. However, as outlined in our latest blog, giving pets as Christmas gifts is not always the best idea. For anyone considering this as a gift next holiday season, we encourage you to read the blog for a deeper understanding of the potential challenges involved in such decisions.

While the owner would be happy to keep Sammy, the dog has not been getting along with one of the other dogs in the household (due to personality differences, not Sammy’s fault). As a result, the owner is now seeking a suitable new home for her.

Sammy is a 10-week-old Staffy-German Shepherd cross. She is full of energy, has an affectionate nature, and is very cute, with great ears. Sammy knows her name and has been a joy to have around, but she has become overly attached to the owner, and it’s in her best interest to find her a loving new home where she can thrive.

Please note: Sammy has not had any vaccinations yet and has never been in exposed areas. She is currently located in Manurewa, Auckland.

Thank you for your interest in adoption! For further details on how to adopt, please refer to our featured post at the top of our page, which contains all necessary information and steps to adopt or rehome an animal. We appreciate your support.

Available for Adoption: Missy

Age: 7 years old
Location: Hawke’s Bay (The owner is happy to travel for the right home)

Introducing Missy, a loving and affectionate dog in search of her forever home. Missy is fully up to date on her vaccinations, microchipped, spayed, and registered for the next year. Although her current owner has made the difficult decision to rehome her due to ongoing conflict with her sister, a fox terrier, they believe Missy will thrive in a new environment where she can receive the attention and companionship she deserves.

About Missy:

Missy is a very affectionate dog who loves to snuggle, making her the perfect inside companion. She is used to being indoors and requires a cozy bed to sleep on.
While she can be slow to warm up to new people due to her past experiences, once Missy feels comfortable, she will become your loyal and loving friend.

She has a high prey drive, so she is not suitable for homes with small animals or cats.
Missy enjoys the company of other dogs, particularly male dogs, and she currently lives with a male Schnoodle and has a daily friend who is a male Papillion/Jack Russell mix.

She is best suited to a home where someone works from home or is part-time, as she is used to having company during the day.
Missy would thrive in a quieter household without young children, as they tend to be a bit overwhelming for her.
She has a well-established routine and is content to relax after her walk.
Additional Details:

Missy is trained with an electric collar, which will be provided to her new home, along with her bed and crate.
She requires a well-fenced yard. Although Missy is tall, she does not jump fences.
Missy is friendly and social with other dogs when introduced properly.

Urgent Rehoming of 6-Month-Old German Shepherd x Mastiff - Last Chance

The owner of this 6-month-old German Shepherd x Mastiff is urgently seeking a new, loving, and stable home for him. The dog, who has previously been in care with another family, has been returned as he was deemed unsuitable for their needs. As a puppy, he is still in the process of learning boundaries and social behaviors, and the owner can no longer provide the time and attention required for his well-being.

Key Information:
Breed: German Shepherd x Mastiff
Age: 6 months
Temperament: High energy, boisterous, and affectionate. He enjoys being around people and is generally good with children, but due to his size and energy, a home with children over the age of 8 would be ideal.

Training: He is not yet fully trained on the lead and tends to pull. This behavior worsened after a male figure left his home, and he now tries to dominate other dogs, including the owner's current dog. He is not compatible with the owner's dog, and with three young children at home, the owner cannot provide the necessary care and attention for both dogs.

Health: He is microchipped, desexed, and has had his vaccinations, but his booster shot is still pending. The owner will provide his vaccination book upon pickup.

Socialization: He has had some exposure to cats and kittens and is generally gentle with them. However, he has not been fully socialized with other dogs, as he tends to bark excessively and gets overly excited when meeting new dogs. He has also shown no recall around people or other dogs but listens well when off-leash in open areas like fields or beaches.

Rehoming Details:
Location: Lower Hutt Valley
Conditions: The owner requests that the dog stay with the same vet for continuity of care. The rehoming is urgent, and the owner is asking for serious inquiries only. This is the last attempt to rehome the dog, and if a suitable home is not found by this weekend, the dog will unfortunately be taken to the pound.

The owner is deeply concerned about the dog's well-being and would like him to go to a stable, loving home where he will be treated as a forever member of the family.

Contact Information:
If you are interested in adopting, please send a message directly to Zoe Hiotakis

Serious inquiries only, please. The owner is hoping to find a responsible and caring home as soon as possible.

Pluto (aka Plut / T***s)
10-Month-Old Huntaway – Seeking a Pet Home

Pluto is a 10-month-old Huntaway who was originally purchased for working purposes, primarily for sheep and beef herding. However, Pluto tends to identify more with the Labrador companions he lives with, preferring games of fetch over chasing stock. He is a gentle, well-socialized dog who has never needed discipline; he’s a sweet natured dog who wouldn’t even know what a growl is. Due to his easygoing personality, training can require patience, and prospective owners should be prepared to invest time into developing his skills.

Pluto is very loyal, and responds well to verbal commands as well as whistle cues. He is able to "sit" and "stay" (both verbal and whistle commands), and also responds to a run and call-back whistle. His name is sufficient to call him back due to his strong bond with his owner. He lives harmoniously with two cats and is very sociable with other dogs. While Pluto has not been walked on a lead (as work dogs are typically not leashed), he is responsive to commands like “get in” or “behind,” and will obediently follow when instructed.

Pluto is a large dog who is still growing, and accustomed to a rural lifestyle, so he is not suited for a town or city environment. He is used to open gates and knows that “stay here” means to remain safely in the area. The owner is looking for a responsible and patient home, ideally where Pluto can continue to thrive in a pet-focused environment. Pluto is a soft, goofy companion who would make a wonderful pet for the right household.

The owner is not in a rush to rehome Pluto, as they understand his potential and are committed to finding the best home for him. Pluto is not suited to a home with stock, but he does know to leave it alone unless instructed otherwise.

Seeking to rehome this lovely girl, Lola. She is a Dobermann and Rottweiler cross, approximately 7 months old, and will likely grow to a medium size. Lola is friendly with both children and other dogs. She would thrive in a home with ample space to run and play freely, and it would be ideal if she had a dog companion to grow alongside. Lola is full of energy, has a playful personality, and loves receiving attention.

The owner is based in Auckland but is open to traveling for the right home to ensure Lola finds her forever home.

Urgently seeking help for two dogs currently located in the Wellington region. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the owner has found themselves homeless over the holiday period and has been staying at dog-friendly campsites. They are actively reaching out to various rescues and kennels, but immediate assistance is needed as the dogs cannot continue living in the owner's ute.

The situation is critical and time-sensitive. The local pound has indicated that they are at full capacity, and rehoming the dogs could be difficult, with the possibility of euthanasia, which the owner is determined to avoid.

The dogs are in need of urgent rehoming, and the owner is willing to cover any necessary expenses, including vaccinations and desexing. Below are the details of the dogs:

Benji: Brindle (Male, Desexed), 3 years old, Pointer x Huntaway

Zumi: Black and Tan (Female, Unspayed), 1 year old, Rottweiler x English Setter

Poppy – A Sweet, Energetic Companion Looking for a New Home

Due to an upcoming move and restrictions at the new residence (no pets allowed), the current owner is regrettably seeking a new home for Poppy, their 6-month-old dog.

About Poppy

Breed: We were told she is a Staffy x Pit Bull, but based on her appearance, she seems more like a Hunterway x mix.
Age: 6 months old
Health: Poppy is up-to-date with all vaccinations.
Training: She is fully house-trained, crate-trained, and still learning to walk on a lead.
Temperament:
Poppy is excellent with children and other dogs.
While she gets along with cats, she doesn’t fully understand their behavior when they hiss, as she’s just eager to play.
Raised on a farm around chickens and horses, she has limited exposure to other livestock.
She is very playful, energetic, and enjoys fetch (she’s pretty good about returning the items thrown).
Size: Poppy will be on the larger side when fully grown.
Ideal Home for Poppy
The owner believes Poppy would thrive in a home with more space, ideally a property with land or a farm.

Included with Adoption

XL crate
Bed
Bowls
Water feeder
Food
Location
The owner is located in Palmerston North.

Meet Thor – Available for Temporary Rehoming

The owner is seeking a temporary home for Thor, a 3-year-old Pitbull cross, who will be turning 3 at the end of this month. Due to a relocation, the owner is no longer able to care for him. Thor has been raised around children and other dogs. While he may be wary of unfamiliar dogs at first, he generally warms up after a short period.

Rehoming Details:

Age: 3 years old (turning 3 at the end of this month)
Breed: Pitbull cross
Personality: Friendly with children and dogs; may take time to adjust to unfamiliar dogs
Location: Manurewa, Auckland (preferably South or East Auckland)

The owner is looking for a temporary home for Thor until their sister is able to secure a new residence that allows pets. It is important that the temporary caregiver is open to visits from the owner’s sister to ensure Thor’s well-being during this time.

Rehoming Requirements:

Must be located in South or East Auckland
The caregiver must allow the owner’s sister to visit and stay connected with Thor’s progress
Thor should be provided with a safe and loving environment until his permanent rehoming situation is arranged
