We can offer walk in scans? 😱

That's right, if you are happy to work around our scan times, you can arrange to have walk in scans done.

We offer this service for chilled and frozen inseminations (frozen may require one or two overnight stays so as to time insemination with ovulation) as well as for Embryo transfer or embryo freezing.

We also offer a walk in Fetal Sexing scan (between 60 to 65 days of pregnancy) - find out if you are having a c**t or a filly! 👦🏽👧🏽

Foaling Down Services:

We still have some spaces for mares to foal this season.

We always leave some spaces for vet referrals and emergency referrals so if you do have a mare you are concerned about for foaling, get your vet to refer her to us for foaling and we can fit you in.

We are fully catered to foal down mares that have previously had significant issues or mares that have been diagnosed with placentitis or some other issue during pregnancy that could compromise foaling.

Alfie is approximately 13.2hh. Both parents are imports from overseas, the Dam from UK and the Sire from USA. Since then Paintball Ells Bells sold to Australia so Alfie is the only c**t of his bloodline in NZ. He is a black Tobiano, and will not produce a chestnut foal. He is really like a big pet with such a kind gentle soul, super easy to do anything with and takes everything in his stride. We have free jumped him and he has nice form over a jump. Alfie has been tested clear from Pssm1 and FIS he has also passed his vet check.

Alfie has produced some stunning foals that have all been coloured thus far and are proving to be fun, confident horses to work with, with his amazing temperament.

Centavos filly born 430am

This mare foaled laying down sternal - so if you had a foaling alarm on her, it would have never been set off!

We know this as we are currently conducting some trials and have all the mares fitted with smart foal foaling alarms to see what the delay is between waters breaking and the mare setting them off.

So far, we have had 3 this season that have not set the foaling alarm off.

The average time currently is sitting at 16 min from Waters breaking to setting the alarm off.

Another reason highlighting why we do what we do here at SG Stud.

The mares colostrum that we tested for the foaling last night showed that the mare was borderline poor quality.

This meant we knew that the foal would need some high quality frozen colostrum from our stock.

The colostrum was defrosted and we could (thankfully) bottle this to the foal (sometimes we need to have this tubed by the on call vet)

Again, making sure that the foal was tracking well, we did an in-house early igG at 12 hours.

As you can see, the foal passed with flying colours and we saved the owner the cost of potentially needing to get the vet to do a plasma transfusion for the foal to make sure that the foal had immunity.

Introducing a gorgeous c**t foal by our homebred resident Anglo Arabian stallion SG Firemaster.

This stallion does exactly what we bred him for - gives refinement to bigger b***d mares and a good amount of leg.

Cannot wait to see him in the daylight and out in the paddock 😍🥰
