Always a pleasure to collect from the gorgeous Mahogany Black Ice from Regent Park NZ
One of the very few Welsh section A stallions that offer an AI service.
He has brilliant and highly concentrated semen for a stallion of his age! His collection this morning was over 800 million sperm per ml!
Get in contact with Regent Park if you want to use him over mare - he crosses well with any breed, and with AI, it makes it even easier!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from the team at SG Stud!
We hope everyone has a happy and safe holiday break.
While we are open over Christmas and New Years, we won't be taking any more horses until after the holiday break unless already organised for drop off.
We are able to do walk in stallion collections over the holiday period with adequate notice - please note that if the collection needs to be shipped, flights are severely limited during this time but we do welcome pick ups.
Many Happy Returns,
Colette, Rozelle, Jess - SG Stud

Dr Swanand does it again!
First cycle chilled insemination to produce an embryo from a 19yo mare and 22yo stallion! ๐ช
Another successful pregnancy today via fresh/chilled semen.
This time from our resident Anglo Arabian stallion SG Firemaster.
Our second fresh/chilled insemination of the season for a second successive pregnancy first cycle ๐ช
Impulsion Veterinary Fertility
Chilled semen insemination to produce our first Embryo from the first flush of the season ๐ช
This embryo was then successfully frozen to be stored and use at a later date.
We still have some spaces left! Book in now for your embryo transfer or freeze.

Pretty happy with this post thaw motility for a frozen semen insemination early this evening ๐ฅฐ (and this was the video taken after the slide had sat on the warmer for 30min while we inseminated the mare and then put her back into the paddock!)
I was cheeky and thought to re-look at it after the initial post thaw and so took some more videos of it.
We still have some spaces for mares to get in foal this season with Dr Swanand Sathe from Impulsion Veterinary Fertility so please get in touch. Your foal is their goal ๐
Guess who is coming back from her stay at the vets tomorrow? ๐
Absolutely incredible to see this foal as she is now compared to when I was trying to keep her alive when she was born.
As always, a wonderful job done by Alicia and the team at Waikato Equine Veterinary Centre
Not all stories can end like this with foals when they have been severely compromised. Sometimes, a big factor is the cost in saving these foals and we always have to be realistic.
This foal was lucky that they had an owner who could give this filly a chance. She isn't completely out of the woods yet, and will still need careful observation going forward.
Apparently, she is living up to her stereotype in being a sassy chestnut filly ๐
I can't wait to welcome her back tomorrow.
Thank you to the Foster Mare Service and to the owners for such a wonderful mare that accepted the orphan foal.
Foal took a while to learn to latch on, but is happily drinking away.
Results like this are bittersweet for both owners, but at least a happy outcome for one mare and foal โค๏ธ
Our resident special boy Aspen Hills Shell Fire enjoying an equissage before his session of lunging.
Bringing him back into work to have some 'me time' this off season. I love this amazing boy and how easy he is to do anything with ๐ฅฐ
Next mission will be his Anglo Arabian son to bring into some work and training.
Doesn't look or act his 20 years ๐
So this looks like it might have been the reason the mare that foaled last night showed signs of placentitis.....
Myself (Colette), Elaine and Brittany here at SG Stud would like to wish everyone a safe and Merry Christmas and New Year's.
We are having a huge and very busy season, with many people choosing SG Stud as their preferred choice for foaling down mares, getting their mares in foal or for stallion collections. We would like to thank all our amazing clients, suppliers and of course our incredible and very hard working vets.
We will slow down and close to stallion collections and not take any mares for getting in foal from the 25th December. We will reopen on the 5th of January in the new year.
We are still taking in and foaling mares down during this time.
Take care everyone.
Team SG ๐
This sample is from one of the stallions that we collect and ship around NZ.
You know you have a good stallion when you check to see how the semen is doing 4 days later after collecting and extending and you see this motility....
For the popular stallions that collect here we always keep a dose back in case there is a late booking for semen that comes in. For this stallion, this dose wasnt required. I decided to see how long it would last for in the Botugold semen extender - its still going 4 days later!
When you can't get a moments peace!๐
