We’re extremely excited to be a part of the ‘Among The Stars’ raffle at NZDE. A wonderful showcase of all breeds to cater for everyone. With the raffle being drawn tonight there’s no better time to put a picture to the name - Waipiri Parfect Summer.

Sired by Parfect - a bull we’ve used heavily in our breeding programme the last 2 years Summer is a beautiful silky black heifer who just gets better and better every day. With one of the best pedigree lines at Waipiri in both the show ring and the milk vat with the likes of Cain Suri, Oman Soul and Talent Soul behind her she’s not one to miss! She’s ready to go in the show ring tomorrow should you be the lucky winner and select her. Should she not be selected and you are interested in purchasing her. With shows getting underway around the country we were thrilled to see some great results of Waipiri animals.

Waipiri CR Freaky Girl VG88 carried on her NZDE form winning the 4 Year Old Holstein and Interbreed class as well as Reserve Senior Holstein Champion and Honourable Mention Interbreed Senior Champion at Waikato Show. We couldn’t be more thrilled for Warren and Michelle on their early success with one of our favourite cows we’ve had on farm.

Waipiri Unix Suri placed 3rd in the 4 Year Old Holstein class and backed it up the following weekend winning the 4 Year Old Interbreed Class and Interbreed Honourable Mention Senior Champion at Te Aroha Show. Suri was part of a line of Cows Noah Dibble purchased in June 2023. Couldn’t be more pleased for Noah and the success they’re bringing him!

And lastly it was fantastic seeing one of Waipiri Windbrook Tonio’s Chief daughters gain Honourable Mention Jnr Champion down at Christchurch Show for the Sherriff Family. Tonio made the trip down to Sherraine in 2021 and it’s great to see those daughters following in her success and doing so well.

Another exciting young Lambda calf we have on offer on Friday from another family that’s been around Waipiri a long time. If Lambda doesn’t excite you enough she’s from a great young Atwood (now classified VG88) Straight off the Pen Col D family - of which Semex have a bull called Dropbox that looks to be doing the rounds in the AI market at the minute!

We’ve had some very successful young stock from this family over the years such as Waipiri Braxton Dewdrop - multiple class winner at Waikato Show and NZDE and Waipiri Uno Dewdrop pictured in the catalogue. You could have the next great heifer from this family. Just bid last on Lot 9!

She sells on Friday night in the Next Generation Futurity Sale at Claudelands. This special young calf descends from one of the oldest cow families we have - add in the fact she’s a Lambda. What’s not to like? The Golds are exceptional milkers with her dam averaging 3.2kgs this season. It’s been a long time since we’ve had a young calf so stylish and whoever bids last on Lot 19 is going to have a lot of fun and success at shows with this heifer.

While we’ve had many exciting calves this Spring little Maggie here could be one of the most special. She’s the 1st of 4 ET sisters from Waipiri Sidekick Maggie that have been born the last few days. Sired by either Lambda, Bruins or Dropbox.

Sadly we lost Maggie last November due to a paddock injury in what was one of the toughest days we’ve ever had but these calves are certainly a great result from a tragic day.

Fairly standard these things always happen on a weekend. So a big thank you to Javier from Animal Breeding Services for giving up time in consecutive weekends for both the embryo recovery and implanting. You are a master at what you do and we can’t thank you enough.

It’s been a great Spring for this family line of the Maggie’s along with these ET’s their Great Granddam Waipiri Windbrook Maggie EX2 calving 3 weeks ago and looking as youthful as ever at 12 Years Old while Waipiri Unix Maggie EX is due soon to Sidekick again.

A fantastic night for us at the annual HFNZ awards with our Windbrook and Lambda Progeny teams both making Top 3 in their respective categories.

These were followed up with some great placings in the All New Zealand Photo Comp. We were so proud to see Paris win the Intermediate Age group.

Congratulations to all other winners on the night and congratulations to Wayne Taylor on receiving his HFNZ Honorary Life Membership. A very well deserved reward for his service over a number of decades to the Holstein Breed.

Lot 28 in the ‘75 Years Of Ferdon’ is a Sidekick granddaughter of the legendary SilverMaple Damion Camomile EX95! Who’s progeny around the world have been nothing short of spectacular. Camille is a super milky 2 Year Old (as you can see by the Platform shot just 2 days ago) who featured in the Semex On Farm and is still going strong 9 months into her lactation. She’s only going to get better with age.

We have successfully shown her full sister Waipiri Sidekick Claire - 3rd Autumn Calf NZDE 2022 and there is undoubtedly something special about this family. She’s due in august to Lambda and if Claire’s Lambda is anything to go by then opportunities are enormous.

This smart young heifer Candace descends from a family we’ve long admired at Murribrook in Australia and Murray’s success over the years with this family has not gone unnoticed.

A direct lambda from Doorman Candace - an IDW winner and All Australian Winner and then Goldwyn Candace behind her - A Royal Sydney Easter Show Champion, IDW Intermediate champion and IDW Reserve Senior Champion Champion. Our next feature lot in the ‘75 Years Of Ferdon’ is none other than 2023 NZDE Interbreed Junior Champion Waipiri Moovin Toni. To say she is special is an understatement. Just like her outstanding Two Year Old Full sister she’s never followed another Heifer in her class out of the show ring.

To further the excitement around this heifer she’s scanned due in July to Sexed Lambda. If you attended Stratford Show or NZDE this year you’ll know first hand just how good Lambda works over this family with Waipiri Lambd Tonio winning Holstein Junior Champion and Holstein Reserve Junior Champion after winning the Jnr Yearling Class at each show.

Just last Show season Three - yes THREE of her Solomon Sisters won at major shows. Tonio winning the Four Year Old Holstein Class and Hon. Mention Senior Champion, Tottie winning the Snr. Three Holstein Class at Christchurch for Dean Geddes and Topsy winning the Four Year Old Interbreed Class at Stratford and the All NZ Intermediate Cow in June last Year.

That’s just Five of Tonio’s daughters. She still walks in the Herd today at 12 Years old and doesn’t look like slowing down anytime soon. A sister to one of the greatest show cows ever in NZ - Tahora Goldwyn Toni EX She has been nothing short of an amazing Brood Cow for us and we’ve gladly seen the success of her progeny around the country.

Lilly scanned in calf to a July calving ticks all the boxes in what we like in a stylish in calf Heifer and she will sell in the ‘75 Years Of Ferdon’ sale.

Her Montross Dam is one thats hard to miss in the herd. Over 700kgs as a 2 Year Old and Placing 4th in the 4 Year Old Semex On Farm Waikato Ward last year whilst producing over 11,000L in her 305 day lactation, backed by a VG Baxter then Liza herself.
