Waiting times for consultations in Wellington are currently about 6 weeks. We recommend veterinarians who refer to our Wellington clinic consider using our remote consultation service. We can offer a much quicker turnaround and book patients in directly for surgery/diagnostics as appropriate. For more information on this service see www.peteyecare.co.nz/remoteconsults

We have some exciting changes coming up on a business and personal level, which will impact our referral service going forwards.
For family reasons, Kellam and Amy have decided to relocate to the Waikato, so from September onwards The Referral Centre in Hamilton will be the main home base for Pet Eye Care!

We will continue to provide a regular referral service in Wellington. Petra has now completed the supervised training portion of her residency and will continue to provide a consulting and surgical service at Carevets Kilbirnie clinic. Kellam will regularly travel to Wellington to operate on patients.

The main impact of this change will be a reduced number of consultation appointments available in Wellington. To help alleviate excessively long wait times we recommend veterinarians use our remote consultation service. Further information can be found at www.peteyecare.co.nz/remoteconsults

We are delighted to welcome Dr Petra Price to our team. Some of you may have already met Petra as she's spent a bit of time with us over the last few months. She plans to finish off her ophthalmology residency under Kellam's supervision, and then to sit ANZCVS fellowship examinations and attain registration as a specialist Veterinary Ophthalmologist. We currently have longer than usual waiting times for both appointments and emails.
A close family bereavement and now covid have lead to a back log of work. We’re doing the best we can, but please expect a 5-7 day wait on email communications, and around 4 weeks for non urgent appointments. Thanks for your patience.

Our new website is now live! Check it out at www.peteyecare.co.nz

We also have a new email address for referrals and other enquiries [email protected]

We will continue to monitor the old email address for a few more months, but please update our details in your contact lists when you get the chance.

We use a variety of equipment to give us the correct lighting and magnification to fully examine all parts of the eye, and then perform additional tests to check out any areas of concern.

Amy and Kellam are pleased to announce the recent arrival of our newest family member, Paige Sophia. Born 6/10/21 and doing very well.

While we figure out how to balance caring for both a toddler and newborn, Kellam will be working reduced hours over the next few months.

We will continue to offer a full referral ophthalmic service, but waiting times will likely be longer than usual. Kellam will triage all appointment and surgery bookings. If we feel that we are not able to offer a booking within an appropriate timeframe, we will let you know and discuss the available options.

Thanks for your continued support of our little business ☺️

Kellam, Amy, Mason and Paige
