Meet Rosie 🐾

Rosie is a cheeky 9 month old domestic short hair cat, who presented to one of our wonderful vets Dr Melissa Mcginnis at the start of October 👩‍⚕️🎃

Rosie had been experiencing persistent vomiting, lethargy and had not been eating or toileting for 2 days. 😰 During her physical examination, there was a noticeable blockage felt in her abdomen, but a foreign body could not be ruled out until Xrays were taken 😅

So off Rosie went to our neighboring clinic CareVets Rototuna for her X-rays, and clear as day the problem was found! (swipe through photos to see xray) 😱 Rosie then underwent an exploratory laparotomy, where the item was located but had to be removed rectally (ouch!) 😧😵 After cleaning the object, the culprit of all this was a 4mm round Bratz doll shoe! 😰👡 that's one expensive shoe! 🤑

Rosie's road to recovery started off a bit slow, with her spending a little more time in our hospital, but once she was home, she was back to her normal, rebellious self! 😹

We hope Rosie has gone off her taste for Bratz doll shoes 🤗 She sure made our list of memorable patients! 😉🤩

Meet Poppy 🌸🐾

Poppy came in to see Dr Melissa for a Dental Scale & Polish 🦷 her teeth were ✨ sparkling ✨ new by the time we were finished! 😁

Trips to the vets can be a little bit nerve wracking for Miss Poppy, so we made sure to give her extra cuddles and pats! 🥹 Funnily enough, by home time she was giving US cuddles and handshakes 🥰🥰 Such a clever girl!! 😎

Frankie is owned by one our lovely vet nurse's Jo (so not bias at all! 😂😉) and was the most patient "patient" of the day! It's always a pleasure having Frankles in with us, and I'm sure he was glad no nail clippers were involved! 😅🤣

Here are our top tips for preventing dental problems and keeping your canine’s smile in tip-top form:

✅ Chew treats can help remove plaque and provide stimulation for the gums.
