🐱 CAT CARRIERS 🐱
We are missing a number of our clinic cat carriers. These are often loaned to clients after their vet visit to ensure our beloved cats are safe and secure on their way home.
If you have one of our cat carriers at home can you please pop it back in to the clinic - we are starting to run low!
It’s Vet Nurse & Technician Awareness Week!

🐱🐮🩺 Tomorrow is World Veterinary Day! 🩺🐰🐶
– a special, unique day created by the World Veterinary Association to celebrate the veterinary profession and to promote the amazing work that veterinarians do.
This year the WVD theme is the "Promoting diversity, equity and inclusiveness in the veterinary profession".
We couldn't be prouder of our dedicated and talented team of veterinarians who demonstrate resilience, embrace each others differences, and work together leading the way in exceptional animal health care.
Each day our teams go above and beyond to ensure their patients (whether they be great, wild, or small) receive the best possible care, and clients the best possible outcomes.
They achieve this by collaborating across multiple locations, working to each others strengths, and supporting one another through the challenges they face on a daily basis. All done with a smile, a laugh and with respect & professionalism. 🌟
So, to our veterinary champions - a huge thank you! Thank you for the care given to every patient that walks through our doors, for the difficult conversations, the surgeries, and for the bad jokes and for the constant pursuit of perfection and excellence
Thank you for your resilience, patience, integrity. Thank you for your love of animals and for choosing our community to share your career! 💚❤️
Over the last week we have cases of heat stroke in dogs after exercise on warm, sunny day. 🔥🔥
Dogs do not perspire the way humans do; in fact, the only sweat glands that they have are on the pads of their feet!
Dogs pant to cool themselves. If the surrounding air is not considerably cooler than the animals’ body temperature – as in the case of a hot, stuffy car – the cooling system will not work and heatstroke can occur.
Head to our website to learn more about heatstroke and for few tips to keep your pets happy, safe and cool in the heat.

Last year Zoetis piloted a recycling programme for Teatseal® tubes and almost 1.6 million used tubes were collected from vet clinics (including ours)!
Plasback, then repurposed the plastic packaging into new FuturePost™ Fence posts, or reusable plant trays.
We are excited to be participating in the Teatseal recycling programme again this year and very pleased that Zoetis have now launched a vaccine recycling programme.
Simply bring your empty vaccine packs back to the clinic and dispose of them in our bright orange recycling stations and talk to us about how recycling your Teatseal tubes can contribute to the Fonterra Co-operative difference programme.

Guy Fawkes is nearly upon us, with a fireworks season that seems to go on for a very long time.
While some pets don’t react to all the fuss, there are some animals who can get quite stressed by the noise and excitement.
Here are some tips to keep your furry friends happy during this time.
1- Never let off fireworks in close proximity to animals.
2 - Keep pets indoors with the windows shut and curtains closed as it gets dark. Familiar noises such as music or the TV could help drown out the bangs.
3 - Provide somewhere to hide to make the animal feel more secure. Putting your dog in a crate with a blanket over the top often makes them feel more secure. If you don't have a crate you can build a den/hiding place for your pet with bedding in a cardboard box and a towel over the entrance.
4 - Try to behave in a calm and reassuring manner. Cuddling and petting too much can provide positive reinforcement of anxious behaviour.
5 - Try a compressive wrap for dogs such and a thunder shirt or calm coat.
6- For animals who get quite stressed with fireworks there are some natural antianxiety options like Adaptil for dogs or Feliway for cats.
