Our clinic will be closed on Waitangi Day to allow our team to spend quality time with their loved ones.

A Large Animal Veterinarian will be available for any equine or livestock emergencies, and the Hawkes Bay Urgent Care & After Hours Veterinary Clinic will be open for companion animal emergencies.

On Friday evening, Tukituki MP Catherine Wedd and Heretaunga Hastings Mayor Sandra Hazlehurst officially opened the highly anticipated Hawke’s Bay Urgent Care & After Hours Veterinary Clinic.

Designed to provide top-tier care during after-hours, the clinic has undergone a complete transformation, now featuring three consultation rooms, a dedicated prep room, an intensive care unit, and advanced facilities for surgery, ultrasound, radiology, and a full-service laboratory.

The opening event was buzzing with excitement, as Vet Services HB board members, local councillors, vets, the SPCA, Farmers Vet Club members, and industry professionals all came together to celebrate this incredible milestone. ✨

This facility is the first of its kind in Hawke’s Bay, offering comprehensive emergency and urgent care services for animals. The clinic has undergone a complete transformation, now featuring three consultation rooms, a dedicated prep room, an intensive care unit, and advanced facilities for surgery, ultrasound, radiology, and a full-service laboratory.

Designed to provide top-tier care during after-hours, the clinic is staffed with a dedicated team of veterinarians and nurses ready to manage critical cases.

⚠️ PARVO WARNING ⚠️

PLEASE, please ensure your pets vaccinations are up to date! Our community has seen an increased number of parvovirus cases recently.

The likelihood of a dog surviving parvo without veterinary intervention is just 10%.
This virus is extremely contagious and can survive in an environment like the park for years. Because of this, we strongly recommend you do not walk your puppy in public areas or dog parks until they have finished their course of vaccinations (usually 3rd or 4th vaccination at around 16 weeks).

Little Albert came in to the clinic for a minor procedure with his brother for emotional support.

Small mammals are a bit more prone to getting cold under sedation so Albert got a snazzy sock jacket to keep him nice and snug while he recovered 🐭

Important Update: New Clinic Hours!

From 3rd February our clinic hours will be changing.

Our updated hours are:
🕗 Weekdays: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM
🕘 Weekends: 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM

For emergencies outside of these hours, the Hawkes Bay Urgent Care and After Hours Veterinary Clinic will be open to provide urgent and emergency care services. Whether it's late nights, weekends, or public holidays, they’re there to help with any critical or urgent veterinary needs your pet may have.

We are excited to announce the opening of a new dedicated emergency veterinary clinic at 103 Grays Road, Hastings.

This will be Hawke's Bay's first after hours and urgent veterinary care service and will provide cover for clients of all veterinary clinics in Hawkes Bay.

As part of this development, Vet Services Hawke's Bay emergency and after-hours care for companion animals will be looked after by the team at the Grays Road clinic starting from February 3, 2025.

We are confident this new facility will deliver exceptional emergency care to meet the needs of our community.

Little nina came to the clinic after unfortunately getting stood on by another sheep. Her dedicated owners brought her into the clinic for an xray, which unfortunately showed she had a fracture.

After a couple weeks of pain relief and some splint changes her foot is feeling heaps better and she can go back to living her best lamb life!

We receive lots of calls about a baby birds (fledglings) found out of their nest.

In most situations a fledging who has left the nest early will have parents close by who will continue to watch over and feed them, until they are able to fly themselves.

If you find a baby bird outside of the nest, please assess the situation before moving the bird. In most cases these fledglings have a much better chance of surviving to adulthood if they are left in their own habitat.

If they are injured please give us a call and we can talk through what to do next.
