It’s finally time for the last round of votes for August! Every dog that stays overnight gets one entry per month for a chance to feature in our 2025 charity calendar, raising money for Pound Pooches.

We did a big walk together with the calmer cadets, to help new girl Darcy settle in (not sure if this is her usual tongue pose or just a special one for her first photo…see front right!).
Darcy is quite shy but has a new BFF Merlin who adores her.
Hello everyone! An unusual request….
I have a lovely dog called Cassie who comes to stay occasionally who is a little shy. Her owner would love to meet some friendly dogs in Havelock North to build Cassie’s confidence.

Rhubarb has been relegated to the slow-coach group as he’s building up fitness again after an injury. My two boys and Millie and Sasha have welcomed him into the team with open arms and smiley faces.

A couple of c**k pheasants have declared the garden as theirs, the sky is clear and blue and the first kowhai flowers are out, so its close.
However, we had to clear ice off the car and there's a fresh dump of snow too.

I have been talking to the printers who will be making our charity calendars. The more we sell, the cheaper they are to make and so more money goes to charity.
Every single cent of profit will be going to Pound Pooches HB, none of this is for ourselves.
We are currently thinking of selling calendars for $25 each.
As a rough idea of how many we are likely to sell, please could you post in the comments how many you would buy (we won’t hold you to this, we’ll get proper orders placed later in the year).
This will just help us with our conversations with the printers.

Every morning the big boy group has a burn off of energy. I'll be honest, they're a bunch of unruly thugs. I tried to exain this to little Sage this morning, but she wasn't having it and insisted on joining the boys for some fun and games. They now have a new leader.

I did shove her in my pocket and carry her up the hill, so she didn't really volunteer, but a walk is a walk....a really unenergetic one.

Little Reef is having his first stay here, although Kate did have him on her time at the river when he was just a pup. He passed his on lead walks yesterday and had a blast running free around the woods today. A fun fella with a beautiful character.

Precisely one hour after the snow white Blaze’s arrival, this happens. I think I should have shares in the Animates dog wash.
Its difficult trying to find the balance between letting the dogs have fun, and also trying to keep the beautiful white ones clean in this weather. Here is Chilli demonstrating how to have fun and remain mostly white..... .....lets see how well Kate manages to balance fun vs clean a little later. Stay tuned, its worth the wait!!!!
