"Path to Puppies"
I aim to make this page to be more than just a collection of adorable Miniature Bull Terrier photos (there will still be a lot of those!), but its purpose is also an educational resource for current and future owners, as well as those interested in learning more about being a registered kennel.
So, I thought I would start a series of posts titled “Path to Puppies”, so people can see the process we go through for a litter and understand the difference between registered kennel litters and non-registered. As this is my first litter, it’s nice to share this experience; the highs, lows, the unexpected and fun along the way!
I guess the best place to start is at the beginning … and explain how we got here! Having a registered kennel was never in my life goals, mind you I never thought I would be in a show ring with a Miniature Bull Terrier impersonating the kung-fu panda either, but here we are!
On April 4th, 2021, I sent an inquiry email to Heidi and Deane Holland of Boromir Bull Terriers, asking to be added to their puppy waitlist. Heidi replied with a wealth of information and ticked my boxes for the need for knowledge. We arranged a meeting when she was doing her Hyde's Petfood delivery in Taranaki and let me meet her minibull “Ninja”. This is when I was also blessed to meet the wonderful Pip, from Bulltanica Bull Terriers and Bonsai Miniature Bull Terriers.
I had expected to wait for a couple of years for a puppy, but on June 1st, 2021, I was offered a white female from their litter, at the time. I picked her up a week later, and life was never the same!
Vinca (Boromir Luminary Wytch from Vortex) was purchased on a co-ownership contract, which I hadn't considered before Heidi's email. I was drawn to it because it allowed me to contribute to the preservation, and development of the breed in New Zealand and internationally, with the expert support of Heidi and Linda (Vortex Bull Terriers).
