Kia Ora Everyone! Hope you all have been well and enjoying the new year. As some of you may know, I had previously been offered an amazing opportunity outside of Pet Journeys that I decided to pursue, which meant taking a break from here. This opportunity allowed my skills to grow within the animal industry, while building bonds and friendships with all the beautiful pets and their amazing families.

For the past couple years I have had the absolute pleasure of helping to manage Paws And Play Tauranga along side of the amazing Owner Renee. However, due to a major change in personal circumstances, I had to make the difficult decision of leaving my team and THE BEST Job, to drive back down to the bottom of the South Island. ❗Canine parvovirus has been identified in Southland❗

What parvo symptoms should I look out for?

A dog who has parvovirus will usually display parvo symptoms 3-7 days after infection with the virus. One of the very first signs is lethargy and a lack of appetite. Fever is commonly (but not always) seen in the early stages too.

Other parvo symptoms include:
➡️ Diarrhoea (sometimes bloody)
➡️ Bloating
➡️ Vomiting
➡️ Depression
➡️ Dehydration

So what to do?

If your dog or puppy displays parvo symptoms, you need to act quickly. Visit a vet as soon as possible, and alert them to the fact that you suspect parvo..

It’s so important for dog owners to understand just how contagious it is and what they need to do to keep their pets safe. Vaccinations are the best protection for your pet.

Due to being given an amazing opportunity outside of pet journeys, I am sad to say I will unfortunately be unable to take on any new bookings at this very moment. I would however like to take the time to give thanks to each and everyone who has allowed and continued to allow their pets to journey with us. It has been an absolute ball meeting new pets and their owners!

Pet journeys would like to give a big warm NGA MIHI/THANK YOU to all the amazing owners who have allowed me to spend time with their fur babies💖 as sad as I am to say, our journey here in invercargill has come to an end. Im so grateful to have been able to meet some awesome owners and make many memories with all their amazing pets. To see the happiness in them while on our adventures, always made me happy🥰 it has been so heart warming growing and learning along side each of your pets, They have taught me so much that I am super grateful for.
