Today's achievement: Rainbow Reach - Shallow Bay Hut on the Kepler Track.
It was my first hike, a challenge, but a very peaceful beautiful walk. The trees, forest, nature; felt like home.
Although it was a massive push, walking through the trees to the view of Manapouri Lake, I was proud I pushed myself to do something new and challenging.
I mean I did have to walk all the way back but 'eh walk in the park now'; it was not 😅

I ended up finding a quiet spot to rest and read. It was so peaceful listening to the water wash ashore and nature sing behind me. I can't wait to go again, and maybe even further.

Tomorrow's adventure is in Queenstown visiting an old good friend, Arizona 🐴, and her mum of course. Excited for a horse trek with her friends :)

Our latest assessments have found elevated levels of toxic algae upstream of Queens Drive on the Waihopai River in Invercargill.
These algae can produce toxins that are harmful to people and animals, particularly dogs if swallowed or through contact with skin.
Similar algae growth maybe occurring in other waterways in the area and other rivers in the region.
Toxic algae is commonly identified in waterways as a dark green/brown slime on rocks or dark brown/black mats at the water’s edge.
The alert for the Waihopai River at Kennington has now been removed, but there remains an alert in place for the Waiau River near the Excelsior Creek inflow.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

Wanting to give an updated notice about toxic algae in our waterways around Southland.
There are two spots around Invercargill at the moment with warnings; one HIGH risk at the Waihopai River by Queens Drive and one INCREASED risk at New River Estuary at the Ski Club at Sandy Point.
Please be on the look out for toxic algae along the banks before letting your pups and kids swim in the water.

I will attach two links for information on what to look out for and the beacon map where you can see the latest notices.

A reminder to sign the petition and help ban public sale of fireworks.
So many animals are affected by fireworks being set off, many hurt and traumatized.

Someone in our neighborhood has just set off fireworks at 12pm during the day and Hugo went to hide straight away. He used to not mind the noise, until last month someone next door set a whole lot off and it lit up our lounge; he was terrified. There was no consideration for their neighbour's or pets surrounding their home, no notice at all: just for a pretty loud light display. And it created a new fear to an already sensitive pup.

There is no reason for private use. Please sign and help ban public sale.

Last week was Georgie's last walk with us before moving to be with her family over in Aussie. So of course I had the original spaniel crew with her two besties for one last adventure together!

It was a bittersweet walk for me, being sad to see her go but feeling so much joy watching her run like wild with her friends. I am so proud of her growth in confidence and incredibly happy to have had her part of our crew.

So many memories and new buddies were made. We will miss her on our walks but I'm so glad to hear she arrived safely and is very happy to be with her family 🥰

This is something very important to me.
While studying vet nursing, I heard a large number of heartbreaking stories about animals being physically hurt and traumatized by the private use of fireworks.

More recently, last year one of my clients dogs was traumatized by fireworks being set off in a private property nearby, just after an evening walk around their neighbourhood. He immediately switched off and wanted to run, thankfully he was on lead and his Mum got him home safely. But it still affects him to this day. His favourite place to go and explore with his friends is Oreti Sands Golf Course, but since this incident, anytime someone is at the firing range nearby he wants to hide, he can switch off and becomes very anxious. It never affected him before this. His mum has done an amazing job to work with him through this, and he has gotten so much better. But the trauma still hurts him and it is so heartbreaking to see.

We can try our best to comfort, communicate and show that it's okay, but they don't understand what fireworks are and that they're not a threat. All they hear are loud bangs.
Please help and sign the petition to ban the private sales of fireworks. Not all animals are affected but for the ones that are, it can be devastating.

Weather is beautiful, finally warm, so it's a perfect day to hang out with ponies!!

We got very lucky with the weather today, just started walking as the rain stopped!

It was Ajax's first walk with some of the crew today, a bit unsure to start but as soon as he saw where we were going the excitement kicked in. He and Pixie chased each other, hid around bushes and went exploring under the shady trees. But first was a good dip in the first pond we came across.

The second group were just as keen for a swim as the first - with Brandy and Bailey leaping in creating cannon balls each time 😂 Gordo and Iruka were often in chase, either with a pine cone or great big stick.

I hope you all are soaking up the sun today after all the rain! Max and I have spent the last couple days at home as the driveway was underwater! So after a morning of chores and a long walk in the hot sun, we are chilling in the shade with doors open taking in the country air 😊

Hi everyone, hope you're all enjoying this nicer weather we're getting!

I have decided to update and finalize my price list for each service, as well as add the Up-keep Grooming service. This includes de-shedding, de-matting or even just a good decent brush. I can also offer a Shampoo/Condition and Dry, trimming the fur around the paw pads and a Nail Trim. This service is offered at the clients house and/or the Wash service at the closest Dog wash station.

These new prices will start in 2 weeks time, Monday 7th October. The 10% discount will still be available for the weekly/regular clients. Any bookings that have already be quoted/invoiced will not change.

Please let me know if there are any questions or concerns regarding this change.
