At the moment we have this delightful lady living with us.

Let me introduce you to Pixie!
Pixie has come here to have some important life skills, that all good Donkeys need to know, installed.

She is just the sweetest wee girl.

She is a registered American Miniature Mediterranean Donkey. Both her parents were imported to NZ 2yrs ago

She loves being brushed. She just loves being able to wander around with me and the dogs and nosey around the garden.
She enjoys going on walks both on and off the lead.

She is so easy to have around, she just makes my heart sing when she calls out and comes over for scratche's.

We went up to Riversdale today and had a play with Mykie.
He is a lovely natured boy with a beautiful brain!
He had his first lead lesson, tie up lesson and all four feet lifted as well.
Such a good lad who thought things through without too much fuss at all.
This fella has the moves too. He has a fabulous trot that is accompanied by a wonderful slow rocking horse canter.
He is going to make a great riding horse one day.

We have a few spaces available for walk in-walk out services to Flint available.

This means, You get your mare scanned and ready to breed with the help of the vet. Then when she is ready to serve you bring her here and we will breed her while you wait. Then, once the deed is done you take her home with you.
Because we are not providing any agistment for the mare, we are able to offer this service for $850.

This year we have two colts looking for homes after they are weaned around March/April next year.

They are Mycroft (Mykey) & Sherlock (Lockie)
Mykie is a Grey and Lockie, we think will stay dark but we aren't yet 100% convinced so we won't know until he actually starts to change colour.

With a gelding contract, where you need to geld them they will be available for 6k each. If you want to keep them entire for future breeding please message us to be considered and put your case forward.

Both boys are out of Black mares who are by Southern Cross Dark Knight. And both boys are them selves sired by Deacons Gate Flint.

This marks the end of our foaling season.
A healthy Grey Filly.
Born at just 327 days Gestation.
That's pretty early by comparison to our normal average of 356 days!

At just 2hrs old she is a high achiever and has already reached of all her first major mile stones.
Stood up, pooped, walked, had a run, changed paddocks, fed from mum, had a sleep, had another drink.

Mum, Bailey has once again done it all with style & grace and produced us a lovely Grey Filly. She might have picked a nice day to foal though, our weather is atrocious!

We would like to introduce this little dude to you all.
His name is Mycroft (Older brother to Sherlock Holmes 😆)

Mycroft had a very tough start to like, he was not coming out the right way and during examination his mum started to push her intestines out.
Mycroft was born via c-section and at first was thought to be dead. He then took a wee gasp a fabulous vet jumped into action, she did mouth to nose and worked her heart out on him bringing him to life.
Mycrofts mum was euthanized as she had ruptured her uterus.

So the poor wee chap was brought into this world with no mum to teach him the ropes.
Thankfully for him though, 23yr old Molly, who is the mother of my first ever shire, Nova, has taken it upon herself to watch out for the lonely wee fella. She is teaching him the rules of horse etiquette and she stands watch over him while he sleeps. She nips him into line if he needs it too 😅

Anyway, check out this lovely, lively friendly little chap. He will be available at weaning to a home that will love him and look after him and make him their best mate. He will go with a gelding contract in place if sold in NZ as he is related to all the other shires in NZ.
But if you want to take him overseas, we are open to the prospect of him staying entire.

If you're keen to add him to your family, please get in touch.
He is going to cost a small fortune to raise to weaning age as he is a big lad and drinks HEAPS of milk formula 😉
He will be Grey too when he gets older and you can already see his colour changing around his eyes and muzzle.

Well, it seems Willow liked the deal I was offering her.
She gave me a lovely little filly at 12.15 this morning, so in return, I gave her access to the rest of her big grassy paddock.
More pics to come later on.

Our Story

We are actively breeding top quality registered Shire horses in Southland, NZ. We make and sell our own rope halters and lead ropes and also use the best quality essential oils in the world to support the health of both us and our animals. We offer a variety of services including horse grazing, training tips and support/confidence sessions (float loading is a specialty of ours), foal handling and basic young horse education.

We also offer horse breeding services from pre conception to foaling down services. Located just 5 minutes drive from the Invercargill airport, we are situated in an ideal spot for collecting semen off flights for agisting mares. We also offer whole horse bodywork sessions. These incorporate a variety of techniques as required by each individual horse we see. Including Equissage, Acupuncture, Equine Touch and gentle adjustments as required. We can also assess your horses hoof trim/balance and make adjustments if required.
