We would like to introduce this little dude to you all.
His name is Mycroft (Older brother to Sherlock Holmes 😆)

Mycroft had a very tough start to like, he was not coming out the right way and during examination his mum started to push her intestines out.
Mycroft was born via c-section and at first was thought to be dead. He then took a wee gasp a fabulous vet jumped into action, she did mouth to nose and worked her heart out on him bringing him to life.
Mycrofts mum was euthanized as she had ruptured her uterus.

So the poor wee chap was brought into this world with no mum to teach him the ropes.
Thankfully for him though, 23yr old Molly, who is the mother of my first ever shire, Nova, has taken it upon herself to watch out for the lonely wee fella. She is teaching him the rules of horse etiquette and she stands watch over him while he sleeps. She nips him into line if he needs it too 😅

Anyway, check out this lovely, lively friendly little chap. He will be available at weaning to a home that will love him and look after him and make him their best mate. He will go with a gelding contract in place if sold in NZ as he is related to all the other shires in NZ.
But if you want to take him overseas, we are open to the prospect of him staying entire.

If you're keen to add him to your family, please get in touch.
He is going to cost a small fortune to raise to weaning age as he is a big lad and drinks HEAPS of milk formula 😉
He will be Grey too when he gets older and you can already see his colour changing around his eyes and muzzle.

Send us a message if you think he might be a great addition to your family.

New paddock today for Willow & Cheeky

Well, it seems Willow liked the deal I was offering her.
She gave me a lovely little filly at 12.15 this morning, so in return, I gave her access to the rest of her big grassy paddock.
More pics to come later on.

I'll do you a deal Willow, I'll move that fence for you as soon as you give me a healthy filly 😍..... deal?

Not much in my mind during the day at the moment except that I REALLY want to go to sleep!
My nights are spent dozing while keeping an eye on Willow, our 5yr old Grey, Maiden Shire mare

Kiwis Uncle Cyril is growing like a w**d!
I'm pretty sure he is going to go black rather than Grey. I still haven't found any white hairs around his eyes and now that he's starting to colour up around his muzzle he is showing the characteristic black hair there too.

He will mature around that super convenient 15.2hh - 15.3hh mark
He has a friendly inquisitive nature, just like his siblings.
If you think you'd like him in your paddocks after he is weaned, get in touch with me and we can talk about making that happen.

I absolutely LOVE getting up dates about foals we've sold and how they are doing in their homes.
I genuinely love seeing the photos of them growing up and the joy they are bringing their owners.

Who remembers Torvi?
Look at this stunning girl now. She is Shire x TB, her sire is Dark Knight and her mum is the beautiful Lilly.

I think Torvi is maturing into a stunning girl.

Cyril has clearly been sticking his nose where it doesn't belong!

Praise The Lord for a quick drying property... (when it's nor raining)
A day and a half of no rain (but a bit of wind yesterday) and we are starting to get dry spots in places.

Here is Katana and her son 3yr old Ranger.
Katana is 20 now and she is the first horse I ever bred. She's half Standardbred, and her Dad was mostly Clydesdale with a wee sprinkle of bizta.
Ranger, as you'll know is a son of Flint.

We have had one of the wettest Winters and now Spring that I can remember.
It's getting a bit depressing all the water laying around and when I flew back into Invercargill a couple of weekends ago, I could see just how wet it was all across the region. It was like looking down at a sheet of glass with the odd grassy bit.
I'm so SO pleased the Shires don't stay foaling until November this year.
We do have Juno, our pintaloosa mare due any day though.
Here's a wee video of a few of the horses as I was bringing their water cart back down to fill up tonight.

What's on my mind? Water is on my mind, along with water being on everything else around here too.
I don't think I've ever experienced it to be so sudden here.
One good thing, is that Flint was covered in mud up to his tummy and now, he's put himself through a wash cycle.
I have discovered that my boots are a little too short to open Flints gate in these conditions. The two weanlings are as happy as wee sand boys in the stables, I think they are completely oblivious to how wet it is outside right now.
